I have a recumbent trike, very high-end. I needed the chain replaced. I asked if they work on bents and was assured that they do. When I asked the price, and they had to do some extra work on the derailleur and shifter which I understand, I had no problem with the cost, but was told "If we charge what its worth to work on a recumbent, you wouldnt be happy." I found this very off-putting. When I picked up my trike the chain was run -- if youve seen one you will understand -- upside down. The drive chain was run through the return tube. When I pedaled it, I managed to snap off the little bracket that holds that tube. I brought it back around and pointed that out. He told me that was correct, and I assured him it was not. He told me the return tube was there to keep the chain out of my butt, and I told him I have three recumbents, and this is not the case. After arguing about how it should be run for a good ten minutes, he put it back together his way and when you pedaled it, the freewheel spun in reverse. When he put it together for the third time, it was wrapped around itself. The whole time he complained about how these were hard to work on. After about twenty minutes of haggling, I ran the chain myself the way I said it should be run and, aside from now needing to repair or reattach the plastic chain return tube, the bike ran great. Youtube has multiple quick videos on how to run the chain. Catrike also has diagrams on the web. As for recumbents, they are spokes, wheels, pedals and chains. I work on mine almost all of the time. The only reason I brought it in was to get a chain. Its no harder to work on than any other bike. I was also told repeatedly while arguing over the correct path that "This is why we dont usually work on recumbents." This I found downright rude. I felt like he was blaming me for directing my business and dollars his way, when his boss told me they do work on recumbents. I wont be back.

I have purchased 5 bikes and countless accessories and service from Bike Line. Let me be perfectly clear: I have never received better customer service from any business, company etc. on any product or service I have ever puchased anywhere, EVER. Every single employee there is an avid cyclist with incredible knowledge and experience of riding, servicing and maintaining every type of bicycle. I get all things cycling from them and would NEVER go anywhere else for anything whatsoever. They are super friendly, personable and professional, and theres no "used car salesman" pressure or cheesiness. They let you ride whatever you want, they make adjustments to the handlebar settings and seat height etc. to suit your particular body type and riding style. They dont stock "junk" merchandise, so if you want Wal-Mart prices and Wal-Mart garbage then go to Wal-Mart and get the imported, inferior crap you pay for. Other bike shops may play that game, but not Bike Line. They are the best, bike shop around...PERIOD.

Bought my bike here a year ago and they still take fantastic care of me. I went in a little past the time they offered a free tune up and they still did it for free with no questions asked. Dont get the feeling that they nickel and dime you for every little thing, they just want to help you have a great experience with your bike. I like to find the best prices on things and I purchased a cheaper bike from a big chain store. To make a long story short it was in their shop 6 times in 2 months. I finally returned it and shopped around at 6 different bike shops in the area. None of them compared to the customer service and friendly attitude in the Bike Line. I have had such a great experience that I brought my mother-in-law to get her new bike here a couple weeks ago. We will get my wifes new bike here and someday my kids when they are old enough. Cant beat the customer service you get here, would rate them a 6 out of 5 if it was a possibility.

Talked to the Carmel and Broadripple stores about a new Trek. Was assured if I ordered it that day it would be in by Friday. Planned a bike trip for Fathers Day that coming Sunday. Came in to get a recall done on the girlfriends Trek brakes before we went and to buy some accessories for her bike. First they tried to tell me that there was no recall (one of their 20 year old kids that works there finally corrected them) then "Oh yeah, we never got around to putting your order in." Walked into Bicycle Garage Indy, Toby had me on my new Trek and out the door in under 30 minutes, beat Bike Lines price and sold me the same accessories we got for my girlfriends bike for less. I advocate shopping local, and tried to keep my business in Carmel, but BGI has a customer and advocate for life after that.

I have been a satisfied customer for 5 years! I was riding an old beat up mountain bike that didnt fit (had been my sons) and was beating me up. I had just returned to riding after a 30+ year hiatus and was looking for a new bike. I had been to a shop literally just a few miles from me and they didnt even want to give me the time of day. I rode to The Bike Line in Carmel and they were happy to work with me to find the right bike at the right price for me. I now have 3 bikes that have been purchased at The Bike Line and recommend it to anyone who asks me about purchasing a bike. Their staff are knowledgeable and the service department is very helpful.

The Bike Line has always been great to work with. I feel like their staff is friendlier than I find at a lot of bike stores. A lot of times going into a bike store like that can be a little intimidating, but they are very easy to talk to even if you are new to the sport or looking to buy kids bikes or recreational cruisers. They also have great racing bikes and a great selection of performance wheels. I have my bike tuned up there whenever it needs it and they are always really good about finding any potential problems, and suggesting solutions that are appropriate and not too expensive. I feel like they are very fair with their pricing.

This past year, we have bought 2 bikes from them. Their service and enthusiasm has made the bikeline the only place i go to get my cycling stuff. Their whole entire family has dedicated themselves to cycling, unlike other "bike" stores that also sell things unrelated to biking. No matter how many questions i ask, they always have an honest answer and have never tried to sell me something i dont need. The Carmel store is more of a hyrbid road shop which is great for the riding i do, and the broadripple store has more knowledge on mountain biking. This is the only place you need to go to if you need anything cycling, hands down.

I and my family had previously spent about $400 at this store over the last year in bike repairs and clothing purchases. I had a relative who worked for Trek and could get me a good deal on a pair of bike shows, so I went to this store to get measured. The owner literally ran me out of the store. Neither me nor anyone in family will ever return. I can understand that they are frustrated by losing business to Internet stores, but running customers out of your store is extremely short sighted.
