I got 1 bike from ACF and 1 bike for my wife fom Dennys Central park. Wow.. it was totally contrasting experience.. At Dennys the salesperson made sure we found the right bike after trying different bikes(even though i told him what i wanted) for my wife and myself (when i was test riding). He made sure the saddle position, height and everything is right and everything about my test ride is nothing but good. But at ACF, I walked in and the salesperson walked to me and asked what bike Im looking for. I did some research and knew what would be my option. When i told what i wanted to try, he took the bike from the showpiece and gave it to me to test ride. He didnt ask about height, type of bike Im looking for or anything. I found the bike I was trying was smaller than what I should be riding. I asked them to give me another bike to ride as the size is not right. But the salesperson was not interested in selling me a bike. He just wanted to get through the day. Unfortunately Dennys didnt have the bike that I was looking for in particular as Specialized ran out of stock for this year. So I had no other option other than getting TREK which happened to be from ACF. I did all the research about the height, tried different bike by asking, tried different height and then decided which would be right size for me. I didnt get a single suggestion from ACF salesperson.(Seriously why would you have someone as salesperson when he cannot sell anything or help their customer). Even after getting the bike, i was just handed over the bike without any instructions on how to maintain/handle or anything. I told them this is my first bike and I know nothing not even how to use the quick release But no one cared to explain everything. On the other hand, at Dennys, where i got my wifes bike, they made sure I learned everything about the bike, from how to change gears to how to maintain the bike in good condition. ACF is nothing but poor. If i had to wait for 2 or 3 months to get my bike at Dennys i would have waited. I would have never walked into ACF for their poor service. I would never suggest anyone, particularly who is going to get their first bike , to go to ACF for their bike purchase. I dont have any idea about tuneups. Ill post a review when i take my bike for tuneup.

Theres not enough good things to say about ACF Okemos. At one point or another, Ive been to all the bike shops in Lansing for this or that. Fact of the matter is, ACF has better service, a more knowledgeable staff, and simply the best selection of bikes, gear, and equipment of any bike shop in the area. At the end of the day, its about being a satisfied customer and in this regard ACF is second to none. John, the shop manager, is one of the most informed and experienced individuals in the business and truly takes pride in his and his staffs work and expertise. My experience with ACF is a bit unique. After participating in a few local, competitive group rides in the Lansing area, John approached me and said I need to be riding a Trek and wanted to put me on the "Great Athletes Program". Simply put, he thought the Speed Concept 9.9 would help me be a better triathlete and provide a competitive advantage over those not riding a Trek. I received my new bike last week and couldnt be happier! John, ACF, and Trek have provided me an opportunity to compete at the highest level as a triathlete through the Great Athletes Program. Rating this kind of experience, the confidence it instills in me, and the sense of pride I have racing for Trek and ACF cant be put into words. I cant begin to thank those enough who were involved in making this happen. Being in the G.A.P., riding the best TT bike in the business, and representing a company that is second to none in the bike world justifies all my long, hard training hours. Thank you ACF Okemos and Trek! If you want to ride faster, youll eventually come to the conclusion that you need to be riding a Trek.

I have been here several times for work on my bike, and several times I have had the same issue, flat tires fixed here that were flat again in a very short time. Due to friendly service in the past, I decided to ignore this issue and return to them as a customer again. This past winter I stopped by to have them restore a early 90s Trek road bike as a gift. Due to the weather conditions, the person that I gifted the bike to was not able to ride it until recently. Upon first sitting on the bike they discovered that the tire tube had a hole in it. Despite the fact that American Cycle and Fitness had replaced the tube, they refused to stand by their service due to the repair being greater than a month ago and the new tire being out of warranty (the recipient of the gift had no way of riding it until the last month due to winter weather). I am very disappointed about this because I have had this same issue with them failing to fix flat tires appropriately before, and in restoring the bike I spent a good amount on service and parts. Similar bike stores I have been to in the past (although admittedly none in the lansing area) have stood by their service well after a month and were willing to rectify problems such as this if it was clearly not caused by use of the bike, even if it meant a small cost to them. From now on, I will certainly not be returning to them for service, and I would recommend finding another bike store for tune ups and service to anyone that may ask.

Although I did not purchase my bike here, I continually receive top notch service from American Cycle and Fitness in Okemos / East Lansing. The staff seems to be quite versed in the technical aspects of the bike, not just a team of salespeople, which is refreshing. They promise a 48 hour turnaround on most repairs and tune-ups and during my most recent visit for a tune-up and full cleaning on the Saturday afternoon of the July 4th weekend, I asked if they could have the bike done by the next day (Sunday), so that I could ride on Monday, July 4th. Although they could not promise such a turnaround, the technician said it would be highly likely it could be done. Lo and behold, I received a call before the closed that Saturday evening informing me that my bike was ready. Above and beyond expectations. Ive had a number of rides since and the tune-up was fantastic as well as the bike looking cleaner than it has in the past few years! Compare that to a few other unnamed locations where you have to set an appointment up to a month in advance for a tune-up, American Cycle and Fitness comes through in serving the needs of the cycling community quickly. I have no issues with patronizing other LBSs and frequent many of them for various gear needs, but for service, it would be hard to top ACF in my book. I feel fortunate to have ACF in our market and hope that our community supports them as they deserve.

I recently had my patrol bicycle tuned up by this shop. Upon completion of the work, I turned the invoice over to the billing department and assumed it had been taken care of. I received an extremely rude and unprofessional message today from John stating that he was going to turn the $80 service bill over to collections. Apparently our billing department was waiting on the shop to set up an account before they could submit payment. I can understand he was frustrated but the rude phone message was really uncalled for. Ill find another shop that is a little more understanding when it comes to dealing with law enforcement.
