I have dealt with these guys numerous times and have yet to have a good experience. Have had a couple "not bad" experiences but never a good one. They are notorious for quoting prices over the phone and then not honoring it giving the classic "I dont know who would have told you that" line. The only reason I deal with them is because they are the only shop on the southside and if you order a part through them, its typically the same price as the guys across the city. But other than that, their prices are high, the typical attitude is one that suggests your a moron, not always but usually and that your a bother, not a customer. I have been dealing with them for years now and this is the typical treatment from them. I have left several times frustrated and upset because they typically change once youre in the store. We need another shop here on the southside, I wont deal with these clowns anymore. In response to the manager: How is the price on the phone recorded to match what was told in the store? I called and got that price about ten days ago when I was shopping tires. You couldnt have possibly known that. And I didnt blow up on anyone. I wanted to, but I didnt. All I said was what was quoted on the phone and to give me my tires back. I didnt raise my voice, I didnt snap at anyone, I didnt cause a scene. I didnt blow up on anyone. Unless you are referring to another customer you did the same thing to, that was not me. Get your facts straight while your trying to save face on a public domain. I kept my cool, purchased the tubes that I did not need just in case and left the store. No one introduced themselves to me in anyway. The person I spoke to on the phone yesterday was quite nice I admit however, he gave me no price over the phone yesterday; only said that they could get me in. Again, the price was given over a week ago when I was still shopping for tires. So no blow up, no one introduced themselves to me after the fact, price was $155 more than what was quoted which has put me in a huge bind by the way, AND if you listened to the phone call like you say-you said that there was no mention of pricing- then how can you start your response with "The pricing quoted on the phone and on the work order match"- if there was no talk of pricing?? Your blind, inaccurate/false response to the situation has only furthered my decision to not shop at your store again. I was hoping when I checked this based on your past responses their may be a chance of fixing the situation but I see that is not the case. I dont believe any of your posts/responses at this point, I have no reason to.

This place has repeatedly earned my business. Ive been helped by no less than 6 different employees since I started visiting Cycle Outfitters and have had nothing but good experiences. Most recently Ive been trying to replace a helmet. Ive got a weird shaped head, and I fall right between sizes and spent a month trying on helmets (probably every helmet in the shop 3 times). Eventually thought I found one that fit- had them order $100 in extra liners and pads to adjust fitment, took home the helmet, and realized it just wasnt going to work. Brought it back (in sell able condition) they returned everything without any hassle, and special ordered me another helmet just to try on. (special thanks to Austin for all the time he spent with me). Motorcycle shops can be intimidating, especially for new riders, but Ive never felt pressured, or put off shopping here. Ive only been riding about a year now, and spent a couple months right after my MSF course looking at gear, not ready to buy, and got friendly helpful service the whole time. Selection is good (maybe not great), the prices seem competitive (even against online retailers), and Ive never felt like anything theyve sold me was crap. These days, I put more miles on my bike than my car. Its really great to have a gear shop in the area that supports riders.

Ive been going to Cycle Outfitters for my gear since the late 80s. Not sure how long theyve been open, but its been a long time. Most of my experiences have been ordinary. Nothing "awesome", but just a good selection at a fair price. But Ive had 2 or 3 experiences with their service dept. that were exceptional. Highly recommended. I cant recall her name, but theres a female tech there who is amazing. Not sure if shes still there, but I think she was there a long time. I would normally never let a girl near one of my bikes with a wrench for any reason. So I was a little worried. I do 99% of my own maintenance on my bikes, but for some reason I was having them put a chain on, or something. This girl was super knowledgeable and knew exactly what she was talking about. Did a great job and I asked for her next time. She seemed busy enough that she was a straight-talker and got to the point, but she took a minute to let me know what she did. Maybe she could tell I was a little uncomfortable with someone else turning a wrench on my bike, much less a girl. But Id let her work on any of my bikes. Theres another guy there in service whos really good, too. Wish I could remember their names. Were lucky to have an independent bike shop like this here in Indy.

Been a Southsider all my life and have seen Cycle Outfitters over an over again when I wasnt a rider. When I finally purchased my first bike, I stopped in since it was convenient AND open seven days a week. Rick spent a long time on a Sunday afternoon explaining the nuances of helmets, jackets, pants, etc. As a former retail shop owner, I can relate to and totally appreciate the customer focus for an extended period of time. Knowledgeable as heck too -- not only had he helped to design and test some of the gear I ended up buying, he was very well informed and spoken about motorcycling statistics. And some of his advice made me think twice about some expensive gear choices I was getting ready to make. These guys really seem to care about putting you in the right product for the right price and theyll put the time in to make you comfortable with your purchase. Clearly though, this isnt like Revzilla where you can return something no questions asked at any time, so be sure about what youre purchasing before you walk out of the store. But you get good value by being able to talk with expert enthusiasts.

Dont buy anything from Cycle Outfitters unless you are 110% sure you want it. Once you buy something here, it is yours forever. When I came back a few weeks later with my unopened item, they quickly asked for a receipt, which I have misplaced. I was asked when I bought it. A few weeks ago, I said. She said, we cant take returns without a receipt. I said the item is unopened, and is untouched. and isnt this your tag? She agreed, it was their tag on the box. I said, cant you swipe my credit card and look up the transaction. No, she said, we are old school. I said, Oh, I guess I will never be back here again. But I was not happy. So about five days later, I looked up the transaction on my credit card statement. I called the store and explained, I have an new unopened item, and I have the credit card statement showing the date time and amount of transaction. No. they said, it has to be the original receipt. Are you kidding me? They simply do not take returns. Good luck if you buy from here.
