We went to Speed City to buy a new scooter. We wanted something bigger than the Yamaha 50cc we had. The owner was very nice and helpful. However, he does not allow you to ride a scooter before you buy it. He assured us that if we dont like what we buy he will get us into something that we do like. We ordered a Kymco Like200 in blue and white. When it arrived we paid with a cashiers check. My wife wanted me to ride it home. I drove it about a mile and noticed that the front end shakes up and down. We drove it back and said there is something wrong with it. The owner insisted it is fine. We said we dont want it and he informed us that is a special order and we own it. He refused to take it back. We took it home and I emailed Kymco. Eventually, the owner called us back and we took in to be worked on. He balanced tires, etc. When we picked it up the shaking had improved but it was still not acceptable. He complained about how much time he had put into working on the scooter and that Kymco does not pay well for warranty work. My personal opinion is the Kymco makes a low quality product. I would not recommend buying a Kymco. I also would not recommend doing business with Speed City. I found the owner to be great up to the sale. After the sale he is rude. After a month, we took the Kymco to Flat Out Motorcycles for its first service. Flat Out was fantastic. They worked on the scooter and did a great job. When we picked up the scooter, we took it down to Vespa Shelbyville. I had hear nothing but great reviews regarding Vespa Shelbyville. Burke, the owner, was very helpful. He listened to what we were interested and walked us through all our options. My wife liked the 2015 Vespa Sprint 150. Burke got on another scooter while my wife rode the Sprint. They went on a long test drive. My wife loved it. We traded in the Kymco with only 400 miles on it. It was an expensive mistake. We love the new Vespa. We are so happy we got rid of the Kymco. In reflection, our mistake was buying a scooter that the dealer would not let us test drive. Speed City will not let you test drive a scooter and I would highly recommend you stay away from Speed City.

I had been in the market for a 50cc scooter and was looking to purchase a new model with a warranty. Speed City Cycle and Scooters, has a nice stock of high-quality, name brand scooters. The prices for scooters and accessories are competitive. The customer service was great all around. I had been assisted by the owner, salesperson and mechanic. Even with all the research I did online, John gave me some advice on riding, as I have never owned a scooter before. I decided to own the Genuine Roughhouse. Curtis made sure I didn’t leave without thoroughly going over what I needed to know about the scooter. I liked the fact that they didn’t just assume I knew everything about everything. They also carried Kymco, which was the brand I was going to go with, but another dealership in town ran out of the 50cc’s. I really wanted to write this review on Google, because I noticed there were a few negative ones. It’s such a limited pool of reviews, but I think this place deserves some positive feedback. If anything, check the place out for yourself. If you’re in the market for a high quality scooter (and not a Tao Tao) check this joint out. I’m not a great writer, so this probably reads like an advertisement, but I’m just a regular guy. When going to buy a new scooter, you need to account for tax and shipping/crating fees. This is something standard you will pay for at any dealership, just accept it. Even though I had a good idea of which scooter I was buying, I didnt limit myself to just that option. Make sure you allow yourself several options. Doing some research online doesn’t hurt. And wherever you go, always find out what, if any, promotions are going on.

I went to Speed City looking for a Royal Enfield motorcycle. Due to my work schedule I was unable to visit the store during their normal operating hours however after a quick phone call the owner was happy to stay several hours after closing to meet with me. When I walked into the front door I was greeted with a smile and a handshake as Mike guided me to the exact bike I was looking for. Frankly when I saw the Continental GT it was love at first sight. I was distracted from the bike briefly as Mike seemed happy to discuss the history of Royal Enfield and the new addition to their design team as well as his own mechanical projects. I decided to finance the bike and with Mikes help got a great rate and a low payment. As we completed the paperwork he helped me find a helmet and a great deal and eagerly told me about upcoming group rides after which he promised to buy me a beer. He asked if I would be ok waiting until the next day to receive the bike as I had requested some modifications and he wanted to go over it completely to be sure it was ready for me and full of fresh gas. The next day he was outside my home with a van containing my new toy just as I got home from work. He unloaded it and after a nice conversation about the bike and some other project cars he was on his way. I have had dealings with several bike dealers in Indianapolis and I can say I have not been more satisfied with the product and the service. As someone who has taken his business elsewhere after bad service from other dealers I would gladly return to and send my friends to Speed City Cycle.

Great little scooter store! I have been a customer of theirs for over two years now. I did not buy my scooter from them. I pulled a "newb-mistake" by purchasing a used Piaggio BV 250 that had been laid down through eBay. However, they have always treated me with respect and have always been very thorough in their explanations. One of the guys even has a Motorhispania in the back, which if you didnt know, is one of the rarest scooters/mini-bikes in the world. 80cc and will hit 100mph! Youve got to know what youre talking about to own and maintain one of those properly. As a side note, I have heard horror stories of those fake Chinese knock-offs. Lots of people fall for them as scooters are a new thing to most people. The Chinese knock-offs are typically the first scooters to show up under a Google search for "scooters." Plus, they are typically a fraction of the cost of solid name brands. For something like that, you MUST do your research, and if you dont, be prepared to pay the price. A lot of scooter stores wont look at, touch, or even sneeze on the things. That this scooter store is no different does not surprise me. There is a lot of garbage out there that just isnt worth the time.
