AVOID Two experiences with them. Summary: AVOID. RECENT EXPERIENCE Mar-2011: They are listed by Tirerack as an installer, with a note to *call* about pricing. (Other Tirerack installers have a "price guarantee" -- which means they are up-front about pricing and stick to their up-front prices.) Good thing I called STS Mahwah. What a gang of slippery eels they turned out to be. Speaking to "Tony", the answer to every one of my questions was a question back. Then he asked whether I wanted him to quote me directly for the tires rather than go through tirerack. I thought that was pretty low as I only calling him the first place because he was a Tirerack-listed installer. When I asked him about any charges he hadnt already identified to me, he told me that he was with a customer and had to go. Without another word he hung up. So: (1.) if you are his customer standing in his shop, he will answer the phone even though you are a physically present customer. (2.) He will hang up the phone peremptorily if you ask him for clarification of his prices. "Tony" -- you know who I am; you have my phone number. If you want to dispute the truth of any of this call me. Everyone should know that I will never give you business ever again -- and that I have written the STS mothership in Bridgewater NJ to complain about my experience with you. PRIOR EXPERIENCE Apr-2010: Winter salt had rusted out my exhaust box and an immediate replacement was required. STS put a new one on. They were far from the cheapest, but they were close to the train station which was important to me that day. There were various attempts to up-sell me, claims from them that they were giving me the best price etc. Mostly it was smarmy & odious cow-towing from Tony. They did the work; I paid them and drove away with only a slight feeling of disgust. I suggest you go to Bergen Tire right across the street. Matt over there is a joy to deal with; they have better prices too. ~E.

My husband & I were prepared to leave NJ early for our long drive home to Maine when we were stopped by a flat tire. Using our spare, we got ourselves to the Mahwah Mavis Discount Tire & were waiting for them when they opened. Fortunately, they are open on Sundays! Brian Callahan, the Assistant Manager arrived early, quickly evaluated our situation & immediately set up his team to get us back on the road as quickly as possible. They welcomed us with friendly professionalism, helped us move everything around in our car & accommodated us & our dog in their comfortable waiting area. The technician who made our repair made sure we had everything we needed & took care to make sure we didnt leave anything behind. We were back on the road in no time, for a very reasonable cost & it was this team that turned what started out as a stressful issue into a very positive experience. Thank you all!

These guys are total scumbags...Not to mention extremely overpriced. Do yourself a favor and find a Mavis Instead. Was going to buy 4 overpriced tires from them...They went ahead and put them on and then told me it couldnt be aligned. Told me I had a bent strut and need to spend $1400 at a body shop they use to get it fixed. When you cant align a car, the tires immediately start to wear unevenly...So you need to address your issue first, then put on new tires. They wanted to sell the tires anyway, but I made them take them off. They charged me $160 in labor for it, at $95 an hour. I really really wish I got paid every time someone wasted my time, but unfortunately thats not the case. Oh by the way...took it somewhere else and there was no problem with the strut at all...Beware!!!!

All the employees here were very helpful and professional. They took great care of me and didnt try to sell unnecessary services or add-ons. I came in with my blown tire in the passenger seat, driving on my doughnut, and when I left I realized that they had put my doughnut back in place in the trunk, even though it was full of junk. A lot of places would have just put my spare in the seat where the blown tire had been in the first place. Also, while I was waiting, I saw random employees come in from the garage just to make sure a new customer had been cared for.

I came in this morning with a large screw in my rear tire. When I told Jeremy that my All State insurance policy would cover it. He didnt say anything but I could tell that he was dreading having to get authorization. Sometimes those calls can be time consuming. Before I could hang up the phone with All State to speed up the process, Jeremy fixed the tire and had me back on the road in less than 5 minutes. He didnt even charge me. Thanks Jeremy.

Got my tire rotation done, noticed that they messed up the screws on tire, and bought and installed 4 brand tires, and balance was off next week, took my car back, they fixed the balance, but wheel still shaking next day, and took it back again, and they balance my tires again, guess what, the wheel is still shaked !!!!!!! They drove me nuts!! Never ever use them for any services!!!!!!!

The service was exceptional!! I had my car back the next day! They changed 2 ball joints, replaced gas tank filler neck, new timing belt, 4 new tires and wheel alignment all for a very reasonable price. Would highly recommended!! AND they are open on Sundays!

I just wanted to post on here to say that my experience with them was great. The people working at the front desk were very helpful with my problem and kind to me. Dont believe all the reviews that you see online, they are usually the most angry.

These people will tell you they are rolling busy while they have only one car inside the place. They will ask you to leave the car for a day for oil change. I dont think these people are looking for business or take the business seriously....

Few years ago, I member being turned down when I brought my own tires to be mounted, Stopped going there for a while. This time no problem, excellent service & price. I think the management changed for better. Will go there again.
