This place is SO EXPENSIVE. I realize that is is hard to compete with big box stores, but Wauconda Ace doesnt even try. I know that I am going to pay 100-200% more for any given item at Ace than anywhere else. For example, these guys quoted me $90 to have a chipped duplicate key made for my car. I did some research online, bought a pre-chipped key for $5 and had a locksmith cut it for $5. Hmm, $10 vs. $90, who do these guys think they are fooling? It is almost always worth my while to burn the gas and go out of town to another hardware store.

Shield Logistics

The kids working at night really ruin your stores image. All the outside lights are off and the darkening shades are down looking like the store is closed. Went in the other night and all of them were huddled in the paint department talking and laughing with a care in the world. I walked right by and didnt get a hello or any kind of acknowledgment. I couldnt find what I was looking for but wasnt going to try and track a employee down to help so I left. Last time I went the were all out front vaping and having a grand old time.

Never anyone to help prices are bad and the hours are incorrect. Considering almost everyone uses Google maybe you should correct your business hours so I do not drive out to find out you closed at 8 as opposed to 9.

I shop here out of sheer convenience only. Their prices are crazy. You are way better off going to Home Depot or Menards. Ace is a great store but they need to learn that prices dictate repeat customers.
