I went into this ace hardware with a strange problem and a strange request. I was looking for a tool that does not exist, so essentially i was trying to create my own. I needed a tool that i could use to get something unstuck that was in a strange position. One of the the store employees named Wayne walked up to me and asked if i needed help. I explained my situation to him and he actually didnt look at me like i was crazy. He took a second to think and figure out what he could do to help me. He then came up with the amazing idea to combine a few little pieces together that he had in the store, and made me my custom tool. I was very appreciative and very happy to try it out. Sure enough, i went home and it maybe took me a total of 30min, and i had got the thing i needed unstuck. It worked perfectly! Now i can ride my new bike :) Thank you so much Wayne and you deserve this review and more, because you dont see customer service like this anymore, and we should all appreciate it!

Took my snow blower there for service they had it sitting there for an extra 2 weeks until I called because they cant read there own handwriting. Got it back missing the snow chute. They claimed I brought it to them missing parts. Spoke with a manager of some kind, told me I was wrong and they do not have and will not replace the parts that were lost. I MUST have them. Also when I got the machine home after I very angrily walked out, they didnt reattach the hood, the spark plug was missing, the cover from the cylinder was laying in the engine compartment. Also there was grass clippings in the cylinder. Im assuming they just left it open like that in their shop. HORRIBLE. I MUST HAVE THE PARTS AT HOME... never going back.

Such a convenient hardware store. Employees are friendly and always asking you if you need help. Yes, indeed, I do need help as fast checkouts always seem to be an exception rather than the norm so perhaps the employees should spend more time eyeing the checkouts or management should plan accordingly. Your Round Lake and Libertyville locations never seem to be a problem. And yes, I left the merchandise on the checkout counter today and went to your competitor after some missing SKU caused the register to stop as not only the shopper but an employee went searching. Ace sells convenience, not often price, so if you are selling convenience, make sure the customers find it quick and convenient when checking out.

if you are looking for help and knowledge about tools, lawn care, go to Menards or Home Depot. you can go to Harbor Freight for half the price and same quality, but for knowledge staff members.

Theres always just the part you need at Ace. And theres always someone who takes you to exactly the spot in the store that the part is in. Its not a "pretty" store, but its practical.
