I am never going to Petco ever again because of the experience I had today. I own three healthy lizards (bearded dragon, green iguana, leopard gecko), and Ive done a tremendous amount of research on reptiles. I went into Petco today to exchange a night time heat bulb for the second time, because it seems every time I buy one from Petco, they never work. I walked through their reptile section to check out what they had. They have three Green Iguanas who look unhealthy (skinny, no movement, pale in color..etc.). I have been there before (about a week ago) and it looked like the same three Green Iguanas were in the same spots. Two in the back right corner and one basking. I also noticed that there were several crickets in the cage. This would not be a bad thing if Green Iguanas werent HERBIVORES! If you happen to feed your Green Iguana any kind of protein or meat, their organs will calcify (turn into rocks) and then they will die a horrible death. I immediately told an associate, and he looked through their rack of care sheets (which they did not have any for Green Iguanas) and then did nothing but say sorry. So, I went to check out and asked for a manager, because I was extremely upset. I asked her where they get their information on lizards from and she told me from a veterinarian. So I told her about the situation with the Green Iguanas, and all she did was smile and nod, and say okay, thank you. I cannot believe the lack of knowledge and care they have for these reptiles. I do not recommend anyone to get a reptile from this place. If you want a nice and healthy reptile, go to a reptile show, or a reptile store where they know what theyre talking about. I recommend Suburban Reptiles in Plainfield. They know what theyre talking about and they are less expensive than Petco. One last thing, for the reptiles who do eat crickets, they dont even dust them with calcium dust, so if anyone got a lizard from there, have fun with MBD (metabolic bone disease) that means that there bones are brittle and that they are unhealthy. DO NOT SHOP HERE!

Whenever I go to a Petco I always go for the fish. I do a lot of personal breeding so when it comes to fish tank equipment Petco is always my go-to choice for good prices on tanks and certain types of equipment. Every once in awhile when I need to special order a particular type of fish I go to this location because its a magnet store, which basically means that they can order more types of fish and other Aquatic Life than other Petcos. The staff is usually pretty helpful , even though theyre always swamped with customers. Theyre not as lenient as other Petcos are when it comes to returning products , but thats more my fault for not having a receipt on hand. They do a good job at keeping their fish healthy and their tanks maintained. To someone who deals with this quite often, its nice to see that even the large chain can do well in this area. Too many big chains let their tanks suffer and have sick fish. This place is a magnet store because they do better than most of the other Petcos. More or less, theyve earned it ability to get specialized fish. The only thing that Ive ever seen that doesnt get special attention are snails, but this is not particular to any location or any store in fact. Snails require specific parameters that simply cant be tailored to just them when dealing with a large amount of sales like they do. They do try their best and they do a lot better than places like PetSmart or God forbid Walmart. Im always happy to be a customer at this location and Ive gotten to know most of the staff and they have gotten to know me as well. Its definitely a place I will continue to do business with far into the future.

Disappointed, but not surprised at the fact that a majority of the Salt Water stock have Ich w/c is very contagious. H2O in all tanks are connected to one another meaning all fish are potential vectors. Spoke with the store manager about the condition of the fish and she denied the fact that the fish have ich, w/c in fact if vas very obvious in 65% of the fish they have for sale. Ex. Imperator Angelfish had ich all over its body and half its face was falling off and she explains to me that the fish is fine and the vet has been informed (lol) yet the price tag is still on the tank.

Took my dog into the grooming section on Saturday for a bath. She was fine when I took her there, when I get her home she couldnt wag her tail and hid in her crate. She wouldnt let us touch her and when we finally did check her tail she yelped in pain. Something happened to her in the two hours I left her there, Landed us in the animal ER last night and will be another vet visit tomorrow. Not happy that a routine bath turned into hundreds of dollars in vet visits. Will not be bringing any of my pets back there.

im very well informed about fish and aquarium expectations, and today when I went in their I seen numerous amounts of saltwater fish have ick!!!! white spots which are parasites!!! always check for this on the body and tails of the fish before buying!

Brady knows his stuff. Staff is mostly absent though. Decent selection of freshwater and saltwater, but nothing great. They changed the pricing on live rock once they noticed I was exploiting their lazy tagging system.

There is a great selection of fish, fresh water and salt. I think the standards have been raised since the reviews from years ago because i didnt see any signs of ick, looked clean
