Went into this Home Depot today ready to spend about $1800 on a very specific LG washer and dryer. The guy in that department, Fred came off unhappy and disgruntled. His attitude was confirmed by the comments between his co worker Patty. Very unprofessional in front of a customer. Since I had been shopping around on these models I wanted to confirm their price. Fred at first outright refused to give me a quote. When he agreed he made a big deal out of what needed to be done to come up with the final price because I wanted to see the cost with their 10% discount. I guess it had to be sent to the front as an order. Furthermore he was slow, impatient, and I have no doubt the order he did come up with was wrong because the same order created online comes to an entirely different price and items. The only thing that is an acceptable difference there is the tax amount which was $64 cheaper online. Though I digress, the items missing on my online print out are precisely why I walked into the store rather than ordered it online. I didnt want to miss something I needed. Regardless, I dont think Fred really knew what I needed either (other than a vibration pad that he kept trying to push on me even though I kept refusing). The model I was getting I researched heavily to know that it shouldnt be an issue, which was ignored when I commented. Whats funny is before I made my decision on a model I spoke to a nice and helpful guy in the same area 2 days ago, Monday. I guess he doesnt work today or things might have gone differently. Either way, Im taking my business elsewhere now.

This Home Depot deserves a 1 star -- the majority of people working here are just there to collect their check. I go into this store all the time and need something from the top shelves that is out of stock below and it takes 20 minutes just to find someone willing to help me. The other night I needed an item which requires being cut and after asking 3 employees none of them could help me; I asked for a manager and Susan quickly dismissed me being busy with something else. 45 minutes later I left and went to get it at Lowes. They also refuse to open more than 1-2 cash registers, no matter how many people are waiting in line... However, I now only go here Tues-Sat 6-3 when Dan in the plumbing department is there. Not only does he know everything there is about plumbing (and helped me immensely with his plumbing knowledge) but he is willing to help out with any other questions and steer me in the right direction. Instead of "Oh its over there, in isle 3" he will walk over with a smile on his face and show you exactly what you need and where it is. I have never seen him with anything but a smile on his face eager to help you with whatever you may need. This guy deserves a raise, a promotion, or better yet should be in charge of training other employees because if everyone in this store had the work ethic Dan has, it would be a great Home Depot store.

I have been working with "Venetia" in Customer Service in the Deerfield store over the last several weeks and have been blown away at the level of customer service that she has provided. I had a very complex order that started within the store and ultimately was replaced by an on-line order. There were order delays, broken items and other issues but Venetia was there every step of the way to ensure that everything was to my satisfaction as well as providing additional compensation where she was able. In this day of mass market retailing it is refreshing to receive the attention from someone like Venetia. She should be an example to look up towards, not only within the Deerfield store, but throughout the Home Depot chain. I only hope that her efforts are rewarded.

This store is awful. Service is worse than bad. They are outright hostile without provocation. Especially an older guy named Bill, or at least thats what was scribbled on his orange vest. Also, multiple times I have checked the website and it listed an item available at the Deerfield store and it is not available when I get there. I live 5 minutes away. They website is either very broken, or they deliberately list everything in stock to get you in the door so they can sell you whatever they do have. I have spent thousands here and put up with a lot from this store because of the convenient location I have tried complaining and it only gets worse. I will drive right past it on my way to the Lowes in Northbrook/Glenview and I suggest you do too.

Associate Beverly from customer service. I asked her if they have a inexpensive portable grill for the job site that does not cost an arm and a leg she insisted that no the only one that they have is the Weber grill for $200 so I asked her I had to beg her to go to the computer and look on there for portable grill that does not cost $200 We found a grill for $40. Instead of helping locate the grill, she pawned me off to the Garden staying that they "probably" didnt have that in stock and said that the grill is not on the shelves even when the computer said they had 3 on hand. I took a walk with garden associate and there they were stacked up $40, horrible customer service. If she hates her job that much you should just not come to work at all

Low quality products, terrible service. I asked a staff member to cut a board and was greeted with a very bad attitude. I then spent 20 minutes trying to check out and got herded to 4 checkout lanes - the first was cash only (learned after waiting 5 minutes), next the self-checkout line closed right when it was my turn, so they told me to go to another register that was about to open. Waited 2 minutes as that register never opened, then finally checked out. Terrible products too - a $50 garden hose and $45 motion sensing light fixture both failed within a year.

I have been forced to go into this store a number of times when I need supplies that quality hardware stores like True Value and Ace do not carry. The employees on the floor do not know where items are located. Many times they do not even know what an item is. Throughout the day they tend to only have one checkout lane open and four self checkout lanes ready to use, but no one does because the self checkout lanes do not allow you to check out large items without assistance from the one person overseeing them.
