Hi - my husband and I have been taking our dog Max to levels 1-3 puppy training for some time now. In the last few weeks we have noticed that the self proclaimed "store nutritionist" has been pushing us on what food we should be feeding our boxer puppy. On serveral occasions he has approached us while we were in class training in the aisles. Our puppy has issues with pulling and jumping so his eyes frequently get very red during class. He has told both my husband and I that our dog is obviously alergic to the food we are feeding him so we need to feed him nutra-something. We have said no thanks and gone back to training but he has followed us into other aisles. We later asked the groomers if he was a store employee, they said no he is a 3rd party representing a food brand. I think it is very misleading for him to call himself the "store nutritionalist" and he needs to leave the people in class alone. He is abrasive and pushy. Also today when paying for nail grinding, the lines were incredibly long. 2 registers were open and I waited over 10 min to check out and at that time each register had at least 6-7 additional people waiting. My cashier said to the guy in the employee room "Alex do you thing you should open a register?" He said no, walked away. No one acknowledged the long line or the wait. The waiting customers were all complaining. One couple split to one in each lane to see which would be faster! Overall we like this store and the training, but have been soured for these two listed reasons.

Today I got a phone call from the groomer saying my dog has a cut on his eyelid and asked if the groomer could take my dog to the vet in Petsmart to see if hes okay. I come to the store to see if hes okay and the groomer blamed me for bringing my dog injured to the groomer. You could easily tell that it was a fresh cut and she cut him but would not confess she did it. So I asked to speak to a manger and she was extremely ignorant. She told me she would pay for medical bills for my dog because the vet at Petsmart said he would need stitches. But she would not write a simple letter to my vet saying Petsmart is responsible for injuring my dog. So if I walked out of there their would be no proof Petsmart hurt my dog, and that she said she was paying for medical bills. I asked to talk to a superior because I was getting nowhere with the manager and she would not give me the superiors information to contact him. I ended up calling the Police and they now have it on file that Petsmart is responsible for the injury of my dog. After that I ended up at the doggy ER for at least four hours. Thankfully my dog doesnt need stitches and will be okay, but I am still very disappointed in the rudeness and dumb excuses of the staff at Petsmart. Ridiculous I bring my dog their every 6 weeks to get groomed and all the staff does is lie and make excuses. Wont be going back to Petsmart any time soon!

Horrible customer service!!! From cashiers, to manager named Acacia to a "vet tech" ... I needed food for my dog who had been prescribed by doctor a specific brand and type of canned food. He has a gastrointestinal condition and not only is he under a strict diet and medication but he had just been released from the vet's... They refused to sell me even one single can of food because I did not have a vet's note with me. Instead suggested that I should bring in my dog to be seen by one of their vet's so that he/she can determine if I could buy the food!!! After walking away I called another petsmart (schaumburg location) and asked what the policy was regarding the sale of that specific canned food and was told that although they do ask for a vet's note IT IS NOT A REQUIREMENT, but at the moment they were out of it. However they would never refuse sale of the item and they would be happy to hold a whole case of it for me when it became available.... Obviously the people that work at the Schaumburg location know not only how to treat their customers but also are caring and true pet lovers. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THE BLOOMINGDALE LOCATION!!!

I bring my dog here or even stop by myself whenever I need something. The staff is usually helpful. I had a positive experience with the staff taking the time to select a perfect harness for my dog. While shopping is fine I would NOT recommend taking your pet their for grooming!! All I have heard is horrible experiences- and honestly I made an appointment, but after I made it I canceled it because I did not feel comfortable at all after talking to them. The grooming staff sounded very rude and rushed, barely answered any of my concerns or questions, and didnt seem like they really cared. I ended up calling Tails A-Waggin on Shick suggested by another review and the response was MUCH better- they were very friendly and took the time to answer ALL my questions and concerns down to the specific process they will be taking- they did not rush me when I was asking questions like PerSmart it was much different- I have an appointment at this new place and cant wait! I will never get my dog groomed at PetSmart. Id give four stars for the Store and One star for the grooming- which is why my rating is at two!

I went into this store hoping to buy feeding fish. I asked for 10 fish and the girl working that section asked if I was feeding something. I said a Savannah Cat. She looked extremely nervous and awkward all of a sudden and said she needed to go get a new fishnet. I waited as a manager (no name tag) approached me rudely without even greeting me first telling me she refuses to sell me the fish for the purpose of feeding them to a Savannah Cat. Quick note: They are called feeding fish. I attempted to make the simple point to her that PetSmart sells crickets and mice to be eaten by other animals and she disregarded this completely by continuing to tell me she doesnt feel comfortable selling me those fish for that purpose. After only two minutes of this I didnt have the time or energy to argue with her and she agreed to sell me two of the fish instead of the ten I originally asked for. This concept made absolutely no sense to me. I wouldnt go to this store again based on this employees stupidity and rudeness.

Horrible place. I did not even want to give one star. My husband and I visited this store for reptile caves when we saw this tiny deformed leopard gecko in a tank. We immediately wanted to rescue him. The store could offer no information on him other than he was free. He was left to rot and die in his tank. We took him home and to a vet and found out he had metabolic bone disease. Someone purchased this gecko and picked him up by his tail forcing him to drop it. Then returned him. The store did not provide him with adequate calcium and d3, and other nutrients he needed. Instead they let him root in his tank. We were hoping to be able to save him, but we got to him too late. I will never recommend this horrible store to anyone. This store and chain has no business selling animals.
