I used to be a customer for many years, purchasing frequently from Allgen for multiple businesses I worked at. I got into an argument one day with staff about a return where we were accused of not returning everything that was in the package. Staff claimed that they check every single item in the store for completeness when its put out on the shelf. The problem is people open boxes while browsing and Im sure items get stolen. The box was not checked when we purchased it and was missing a 3" USB cable. I told them I was returning the item because it didnt work, but they refused the return because they claimed it was missing a cable. To prove there were items missing they got another box from the store shelf and compared everything inside. In addition to the cable, there was a tiny little piece of paper about FCC ID and inspection # at assembly ect.. They claimed that needed to be in the returned package as well for them to accept the item back. At this point it seemed that the employees were just being ridiculous. They actually went into the back to photocopy, and cut a 1 inch paper copy of the government FCC regulation and inspection paper to put back into the returned items box. Then they told us how they were adding our company to "a list" that would tell employees to check all returned by us, because we had "tried to return incomplete items in the past". They also told us we would be subject to a return fee from that point forward. As a customer I felt I was being labeled a thief and it being done in a way all their employees would see it every time I made a purchase. As a business owner and having worked with many companies Id never treat a customer like this. I have worked in the IT industry for several years, and avoided purchases from Allgen since this incident. Ive met other IT people and business owners who have had similar experiences with Allgen. I would be willing to give them another chance, hopefully staff and customer service has changed since this incident 10 years ago, but I am not convinced after speaking to others.

Great place...if you want to be taken advantage of...they try to sell you things your computer doesnt even need, with scare tactics...I dropped off my desktop for simple diagnostics, and 2 weeks later they got around to looking at it...and came to the conclusion that nothing was wrong with it...but they did feel the need to try to convince me that my hard drive was corrupt and I should replace it through them before I lose all my data, they also stated that both my optical drives were non-functional, but when I got home everything was back to normal. I really feel bad for the average computer user who goes into Allgens expecting honest, wholesome, reliable, straightforward computer techs...because that is not how the Techs treat you. Thanks Allgens... I have used Allgens since about 2002, and each year their service department has slowly regressed. If the average paying customer wants to be talked down to and belittled this is the perfect place to go. I think its kinda ironic that their comment button doesnt work on their web page, but that just goes to show you how much they really care about there customer service. There are hundreds of place to pick from in San Antonio to have your computer serviced, I just hope you DONT PICK THIS ONE!!! The reason I am posting this is to inform the average computer user...Learn from someone elses mistakes...

I was hesitant to go by here due to their outdated website and didnt seem to have a good selection so i went to Altex and that place is a rip off. Decided to swing by Allgen and see what they had to offer. They have the necessities and have a nice selection of components to build a pc. They ended up having a pre build that looked amazing but had an I5 processor and i stated i would love to buy it if it had the I7 processor to which they said we can do that for the difference. Since I ended up wanting to buy a whole pc i when i went home to get my old pc to see if anything was worth any value. While i went home and grabbed my stuff they went ahead and installed the Wi-fi card, two red led fans, and the I7 processor. The Build had a 500gb SSD but no optical but they took my 1TB HDD out and put it in the new pc no problem quickly. I booted the PC with zero issues, runs extremely quiet, and is very aesthetically pleasing with the led lights in it Cooler Master Case Intel I7-6700 unlocked Gigabyte z170x-Gaming 3 Mobo Corsair H50 liquid cooler EVGA Supernova 750 B2 PSU Geoforce GTX 1070 will definitely return for any issues. excellent customer service from my first phone call until my computer was loaded in my car. Thanks again

Wow, Ok then. Here is what i as talking about, People blame other people for their mistakes and a broken PC, Grow Up and take the blame for once, your an adult. Like i have said befor... They are rly kind and not bad with service. Some parts are a little much, Cheaper online. But they are trying to make a living. They are trying to survive just like all of us. Some parts are more than online and some are cheaper and a good deal. Thats why you shop around. But if you relay need a part and it is a little more, they may work with you, If not its still a deal since you get the part when you walk out. If you dont like the prices then leave and go some place else, I would recommend Allgen to anyone. I would still like my Gaming clan to be sponsored by them. It would bring them lots of local business. "I hope you are all acting like adults on here, Not flaming them because you messed up your PC and they took some time to fix it. They dont go slow or take their good old time, they make sure your PC is fixed in a 5 star standing. Anotherwords they dont send it back Fed up. Not unless you rush them and you wine that you need it sooner. You can not rush perfection." Thank you all for Reading, Michael Woods

I can highly recommend the guys at Allgen , that of course includes Susan :). I have been repairing computers for over 30 years and I have run my own computer business here in San Antonio for over 20 of those. Allgen is my local go to when I need something quick. The best part of buying from them is the helpfulness of the staff. Not only do they have great prices on cables, switches and odd parts that you might have a hard time finding, but they have always been very helpful and knowledgeable. My primary focus is on small businesses and I have often referred individuals to them for their computer support/repair needs without a second thought. Their repair price is about half of my rate and that is also appealing for my home users that dont have a lot of money to spend on keeping their computers running. Thanks for the years of great service! Tim

I had been going to Allgen for many years, since sometime after 2004, when I arrived in San Antonio. Last April I bought a new computer from them and was told that the Windows security was enough. In July I had some issues, with a virus, and I took it to them. In November, the same issue. Never did they suggest that I needed an anti virus. This month I had to take it in and they charged me $125 for service and told me I needed an anti-virus. So now I am in, with the previous service, $268 in service on a brand new computer. Purchase price of the computer was almost $800 in April 2014. Looking for a new computer repair shop. I would like to add that occasionally I would send the tech an extra check in the mail, $20 or $40, when he did some remote work for me or anything on the telephone.
