My dad sent me in with some cash to get a hermit crab. I went in to find that is was a little busy so I went over to the hermit crab habit and picked out crab. I went to the register to ask for some help. She used the intercom to get some one to come out. She said to go wait a the hermit carb habit so I did. Waited for 10 minutes and no one came so I went back to the register and waited for 5 minutes in line. When she saw me she said no one helped you yet? I replied no but I have been waiting quite a while. She said sorry let me go get some one for you, go wait by hermit crabs again. A little more hopeful this time I went back. 5 minutes later I see her holding a puppy! I was so frustrated at this point. My dad came in looking very annoyed and said to me have you asked for help? I said yes twice and both times they ignored me. When my dad tried to get some one they would walk fast by him. Finally after 5 minutes he got someone that was at the computer. I gave her the one I wanted to buy. She said you must buy food for the crab so we know you are going to feed him. I said to them I already have multiple crabs and have plenty of food. They said that I must buy food. I brought up the fact that my sister got a hermit crab yesterday and did not ask for her to buy food. Then she said oh well if you came yesterday then thats fine. The whole argument lasted 10 minutes at least. When I finally was able to buy the crab she asked do i want a box to put him in? They care so much about us buying food but would let me hold him all the way home! Of course I said yes and was on my way. Like really do you think I would buy a 8 dollar hermit crab and just let it stare? Next time I might as well go to pets smart so I dont waste me and my dads time.

I mention this below but there is a PETSMART right across the plaza straight in front of the entrance like youre coming out. go there. YOURE WELCOME. Petland is just terrible. Death and disease. If i could rate lower i would. Ive bought fish multiple times - none ever survive. Its not my water quality, i test and its perfect. Water temps great. Fish have been infested and diseased everytime and these arent feeders. They dont count properly, dont give proper dozen counts they short it, water and tank quality is horrendous. Puppies are always sick and theres feces on them a lot of the time. I cant imagine how the reptiles do. Dont know how to take care of the animals. Leave dead things in containers, dont remove them. Please dont support them. Theres a petsmart right across the way. Youll thank me. Ive gone in looking for a tank lid for a breeding tank i had and basically was insulted like my knowledge of marine life is below beginner just so they could sell a tank and stand. Gone in for some food, because i have to petsmart doesnt have the big pellets for my monster cichlids and been talked to by 8 people in two minutes basically one after the other until they just ran me out of the store because i couldnt just grab what i came for. Terrible conditions for the animals there - despite what it seems like its really horrible. Ive witnessed a lot because i have no choice but to buy my big pellets here, if i knew how to report the store and get it taken care of i would. This is absolute garbage and animals arent just trinkets that break and you replace theyre living creatures. Im ashamed to walk in when i have to and thats monthly for the stupid pellets.

About three weeks ago my boyfriend and I purchased an 11 week old puppy from Petland. Ill start with the positives - the staff was friendly and pleasant. They seemed to genuinely love the dogs there (at least the 2 women we interacted with). Negatives - the puppies are WAY over priced! Like most, our puppy went home with what seemed like a small cough (it was brushed off when we asked about it in the store) - less than 12 hours after bringing our puppy home she was coughing up blood and had yellow discharge coming from her nose. A few hours later we noticed a decent amount of blood in her bowel movements. I immediately brought her to the vet who prescribed 3 different medications, but said her symptoms would likely take a month to fully clear up (she is still coughing, but not nearly as bad). The first vet we went to also suggested we keep a close eye on her ears - he suggested she may have an infection, but that the irritation could be a side effect of her coughing. Petland does offer 14 days of medical coverage, but that is beside the point, this poor little girl was really sick. Fast forward two weeks - we took her to a different vet (I do not live in the Pensacola area) and she has an ear infection - yet another medication this poor thing is on. To end on a positive note - our little girl is so loved and really enjoying her new home. Although this process has been scary at points, we are so grateful we were able to give her a safe and healthy home.

I wish I could give this awful place negative stars. My last review was somehow removed where I mentioned that APRIL from Petland lied and scammed me when I was adopting a cat. They charge more than the shelter does for the animals the shelter cant keep. I adopted a cat August 6th, 2013. I was informed that cats have one free vet check when you purchase them as long as its done in the first week you have the cat. I was also told this cat was two months old. After bringing her to the vet (which wasnt a free vet check! called everywhere) they informed me she was well underweight and not even close to two months old. She had severe fleas, ear mites, and worms. None of which Petland informed me about. I called Petland right after I got home from the vet (not even three days after purchasing my kitten) and they claim they never said anything about free vet visits. I asked to speak to April, who sold me the sick cat, she lied in front of her manager saying she never said that they came with a free vet check within five days. Clearly the people at Petland are in it for the profit they get from scamming people into buying these sick animals. The dogs come from puppy mills and are charged much higher than what Petland pays for them. If you want to support puppy mills and give Petland more cash to hurt more animals, by all means shop until you drop at Petland. I am so disgusted with this place and I will never shop for an animal there again.

Last Friday I bought a dachshund puppy. That night she started coughing... but it must have been suppressed.. because the next morning she was coughing a lot. She had KENNEL COUGH and I already had brought her home and exposed my two other healthy dogs! I called the manager and owner, they told me "if I wasnt happy with my purchase then I will get a full refund". I was mad that they didnt take responsibility for selling a SICK puppy! I took her into the vet and she did have kennel cough. Petland offered for her to be checked out by their vet and then I was told "she had nothing wrong with her". After much thought, I returned her. Petland knew they sold a sick puppy. Well, 8 days later, MY two healthy dogs are now coughing and have kennel cough. I WOULD NEVER BUY A DOG FROM HERE. Look at all the reviews from Petland across the US. It is places like these we need to avoid. We are supporting puppy mills...and a place that is getting away with selling sick puppies knowingly. I then called the Vet Dr.Sprayberrys office (OLIVE BRANCH VET ((their vet)) and was told that most puppies from their have pneumonia and upper respiratory infections and kennel cough is "very possible for them to contract since they are in a confined space". This place is a bunch of crooks.
