I typically dont take the time to review anything online, but my experience at the PetsMart grooming department was so awful that I felt a sincere obligation to ward off anyone thinking about taking their dog here. It was by far the worst grooming experience I have ever had. My dog left half-groomed, bright red and traumatized... and shes never acted like that with a groomer! My pup was a rescue, and this was the first time I had taken her in to get her nails clipped. I watched as the groomers literally dragged her to the back on a choke coller, were very rough with her and were yelling at her, knowing full well she was a rescue and this could be a scary first experience for her. They didnt show any compassion, they showed zero patience and they didnt even try to make my dog feel at ease. It was a VERY stressful environment. She left bright red and cowering! If you want a good experience for your pups, I suggest you avoid taking them here for grooming at all costs. I recommend Pampered Pup in Matlacha - theyre excellent with ALL dogs, do a beautiful job and are very patient and understanding about dogs who might be a little nervous about grooming.

Bought a guinea pig from here that died within 5 days. The employee that was putting her in the home carrier for me acted inexperienced. She even dropped her keys on top of the box that she was in while carrying her to the checkout lane for me. She sort of laughed it off and had put the guinea pig in there pretty quickly so I couldnt get a great look at her body, but in the end, It had some sort of growth in her stomach and would scream day and night. Was eating the same food as my other guinea pig. Woke up on a Saturday and saw her stiff as a board dead in the cage. PetSmart asked for the body and she had some sort of crust all around her eyes, nose and mouth. They immediately kept trying to give me more guinea pigs and even one for free. I dont think they take proper care of their guinea pigs and I truly felt like they were trying to get rid of them for some reason, perhaps a good bunch of them were sick. The employee looking at the body made a comment stating that "the food probably got tainted by something we did". Really? Anyways, not going back for animals. Only hay.

Would not go there for grooming... the girl working there was very nice and gentle with my dog, but did not know ANYTHING about grooming and looks like she received no training. My dog was to get a bath, brush out, and nails done. Well, you ALWAYS brush out this breed first to remove any tangles as when the coat gets wet, the mats form easily and are a chore to get out. Brushing means brush and comb to the skin. Well... she first washed him. Wrong. Then put him on a grooming table with a dryer going, making the knots, now mats, worse. She just used a slicker brush to lightly go over him (knots... now mats... left beneath topcoat). Nails were clipped and left sharp (no filing or dremel). It appeared his legs and feet were not even washed. He did not smell clean at all (bathing area is outside public view). The staff really needs to be trained better; I believe the young girl was trying her best, just did not know proper procedures. When we got home, had to re-do him to remove mats that the "bath" made worse. For now on, I will do my own grooming!

Took my dog to the grooming salon where I specifically asked to be scheduled with someone familiar with schnauzer cuts. My groomer was late and then I spent at least 5-10 minutes explaining exactly what I wanted for my pup. When I picked her up, her beard was wet so I had to wait for it to try to see the cut. The body cut (ears back) was great. The eyes were not what I asked for and the groomer had given my dog layers in her previously long beard. Now she has parts level with her lips that used to come below her chin and she looks all funny. We have been growing her beard out over the past year. Now I have to start over. Then when I called the mananger, Chris, he kept questioning me and was very rude. Finally offered a refund since he "couldnt grow her beard back". Overall, very disappointed with the experience.

Do NOT take your dog to be groomed here. I have a fairly large dog that is absolutely terrified of getting his nails trimmed and hates being separated from me. I had a choke collar on him when I went to go get his nails trimmed and once the lady put him up on the table she took my leash, that is attached to the choke collar, and tied it to the top ring above his head. At first I wasnt worried about it, however, the lady lifted up one of his front paws and his other paw slipped out from underneath him essentially making him hang by his choke collar until she put his paw down! I was absolutely horrified and when I finally got him back his nails werent even trimmed. All the girl did was shave off the top of his nail making them into a weird shape but with the same length. Horrible place.

I had to return an item today and both Tyler and Nancy were very helpful with a store policy situation that could have caused me to walk away with a bad feeling. Instead, they were courteous and considerate and listened to me as one human to another and stood behind their customer. The store was very busy as well, with lots of customers as well as customers and their dogs, which created more smiles. I am a profressional board-and-train dog trainer and will definitely return to the Pine Island PetSmart in the future because of the two employees named above.

Friendly Reptiles
I wouldnt suggest buying a reptile here. I bought a leopard gecko from here around two weeks ago and he still barely lets me hold him. They are suppose to be docile and the best beginner pet. I have 3 other lizard (2 from pet supermarket) and within minutes they would chill in my hand. If you do want a reptile I strongly suggest going to pet supermarket. The best one I go to is on Cleveland Ave. They actually take care of their reptiles and the workers are friendly.

This is a great all around store. I normally go for freshwater fish supplies and decor. I used to buy the fish from that location but every time I would buy from them but find out later they were sick. If I were to buy fish from them again I would leave them in quarantine for at least 2 weeks to be sure they were safe for the tank. Great store, just be careful buying live fish. Otherwise they have great fish supplies and other animal supplies and a great staff.
