Ive been a pretty unhappy customer of Performance for about a year. They sold me a service plan with my bike, which seemed like a decent deal at the time, but now it just feels like they treat each service appointment like a sales opportunity. Ill bring the bike in for a tune up, and if something is a little worn, they get really pushy about replacing it. Even if you tell them that you already have a replacement at home, and youd rather do it yourself, they dont stop pushing. After I finally got them to take no for an answer, they still called me at home one more time to try to push some more. Worse than that, though, they messed up my front wheel during the last tune up. It had a slight wobble when I brought it in. They tried to say it was more than slight, but Ive been staring at it for 16 miles a day during my commute, and it was a few millimeters at most. Anyway, they broke a couple spokes trying to fix it, and then they tried to tell me it was unfixable, and I needed to buy a new wheel. After arguing with them a bit, I told them to leave it alone and Id just buy a new one on Amazon, because I wasnt going to give them any more of my money. When I got the old one back, though, I replaced the spokes myself and trued it up and it the old one is still fine. So, now I have this service plan, which wasnt cheap, that I bought for convenience sake, but Im afraid to use it because they dont stand behind their work or their products, they are fine with breaking stuff and trying to sell me the replacement, and they can be annoyingly pushy. Also, the people on here who have said theyve been treated rudely are not wrong. Most of the staff seem nice enough, but the head guy (maybe owner or manager) is very abrasive and condescending.

I wish I could give this place less than one star. I recently visited Performance Bike in Westminster. They had a sale on 2014 bikes and I was interested in getting a mountain bike for my daughter. We were originally looking at the 20 inch models, but the salesman recommended that we get the 24 inch model. My daughter test rode the bike and agreed that that was what she wanted. The bike was inspected before it left the store, although I was a little surprised that the inspection was very brief (like they barely had time to look it over). I purchased the bike and brought it home. Over the next couple of days, my daughter rode the bike up and down our street for a total time of maybe an hour and a half. One afternoon while riding the left peddle came off the bike and she crashed in the street. Fortunately, she wasnt going very fast and wasnt injured. I took the bike back to the store and explained to the salesman (the same one who sold us the bike) what had happened. All he said was, "What do you want to do?" I told him that I wanted the bike repaired and inspected. We took the bike back to the repair shop and it was noted that the threads on the peddle were damaged. I told him that I would pick up the bike the next day. When I picked up the bike, I was told that several things were loose and whoever had assembled the bike had used some of the wrong components. I told the representative that this was completely unacceptable, that my daughter could have been seriously injured, and if that had happened they would be dealing with my lawyer. No apology was offered, but I was able to get my money back. So the bottom line is, if you value your safety, you might consider going somewhere else.

Welcome to the "Walmart of Bicycles" because it is a good place to buy a bike for a good deal but the customer service is less than adequate. Manager is disrespectful and rude with no interest in building or keeping clientele and ensuring any and all customers are happy. I purchased 2 bikes and accessories here that equated to over $2k and everyone was friendly and helpful at the time but when i brought them back to address a small tear on the handlebar grip tape that was on it when the bike was purchased and the assistant manager was willing to address it at the time of purchase if i brought it back the following day due to it was after hours when i purchased the bike along with a rough feeling front tire, they didnt want or willing to address it when i brought it back without me having to pay for the parts and labor. Due to this i went to Bicycle Village and Cycle Dynamics to purchase the rest of my accessories and it seems others mentioned a similar results in their comments. if you want great customer service with people that cares about their customers and fellow cyclers then i would frequent Bicycle Village and Cycle Dynamics.

My wife and I went in to look for a mtn bike for her. Weve spent plenty of money at Performance in the past, but never again. My wife had a specific make/model she was looking for as we had a pro deal directly through diamondback. She was also interested in something similar if the sales person would have taken the time. The salesperson who initially greeted us got the shop manager for us as he was more knowledgeable regarding the bike of interest. Once the shop manager came over, he asked my wife why she was interested in that particular bike. Then he asked if we had a pro deal, which she truthfully answered yes. He then proceeded to tell us that we werent supposed to bother bike shops about things like that and pointed to the mens bike and said we could look at the saddle height and walked off. I guess he wasnt interested in selling her something else, or forgot that she might also need shoes, a helmet, clothing, service, etc. Needless to say, we wont be "bothering" them anymore, for anything. Ever.

Purchased a nice bike here for a good deal and had to go back a few times to get a front derailleur dialed in -- there were some rides where I ended up only being able to use my small ring. Was almost ready to give up on the bike, but Howie (mechanic) was able to do what the previous mechanic could not do and got the bike in working order. Although it took a couple tries, they were always responsive, informative and helpful. Lee (manager) did a good job of getting things straight and addressing some issues. They appear to be swamped w/ numerous bike maintenance issues from what Im guessing(??) are a lot of 1st time cyclists and do a good job in spite of that. Also a good place for "expendable" -- tubers, nutrition, etc.

In general, decent stock at very good prices, especially during sales. Floor staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. HOWEVER, do NOT take your bike there to get fixed for anything beyond easy stuff like flat tires, etc. B/c, oddly enough considering this is no "boutique" shop in Boulder, their head mechanic, David Zurkel, is just flat out condescending, bordering on being a "condescending A-hole". This happened two out of two times I went there for repairs. If the guy hates people who dont know as much about bikes as he does so much, then just find another career dude. Im a competitive cyclist, own 7 bikes, and know some things but I got talked too like I was a 2nd grader, with a few rolls-of-the-eyes thrown in.
