I feel like other reviewers are describing a different store than I experienced. I might be biased after spending 2 years working in what I consider to be one of the best bike shops in the area, but by any standards, I had a completely unacceptable experience from a customer service standpoint. My boyfriend is shopping for his first road bike, and had seen the low prices and wacky return policy that Performance offers, and wanted to check them out. The Glendale shop is closest, so we went there first. My first thought was that the location is awful - where are you supposed to do test rides without getting hit by a car?? (their initial suggestion was just "around the store") No one acknowledged us when we walked in, or for quite a while - and no, they were NOT busy. At all. Luckily for my bf, I had brought my own tools, and have enough experience to do a basic floor fit while holding the bike up with him on it myself. If I hadnt, I honestly dont know if anyone would have even adjusted the seat height - and fit is crucial to knowing whether a bike is right for you! The first associate who finally came over was either brand new, completely uncomfortable in a sales role, or not very bright. That sounds harsh, but theres no better or nicer way to describe it. He was unable to provide any intelligent information about the bike model or fit, or really anything of any help at all. I tried to politely ask to speak to someone who might be a little more familiar with the road bikes, and another guy was sent over. He seemed to know a little more, but not much, and had a really off-putting attitude from the jump. Eventually we went out for a test ride (I took some random bike out just so I could watch my newbie-rider boyfriend in the busy parking lot - an again observed a lack of knowledge of basic fit). When I asked where they suggested people go to ride, they acted like this was an unusual question. In shop test rides must be their standard? They did say we could go to the Cherry Creek Trail. While I appreciate this option, it seemed odd that they would send people who might not even know how to get there that way across busy streets... but hey, you sign a liability form , so eff it right?! Since it was rush hour and extremely windy, we just tried to find the least traffic-y part of the lot. When we came back in, no one asked how the ride was or if we had any questions. Once again we were not acknowledged. It took forever just to get our IDs and credit cards back, and no one said anything when we left. While we were waiting to GTFO of there, I observed another employee helping a girl with a bike fit up on a trainer in front of a mirror. I couldnt hear much of their conversation, but it seemed like the girl had purchased her bike the year before and maybe needed some tweaking on the fit or had questions about riding, not too sure. I immediately saw that the fit was wrong for her. Her hips were rocking and her toes were at a 45+ degree angle pushing the pedals down - the seat was obviously too high for starters. The Performance employee did not seem to notice this or think it was a problem. Her posture was also off. Some of this could have been corrected by a simple explanation, or it may have been another fixable fit issue. I love bikes and take it very seriously when someone wants to start enjoying the sport as well, so it was really hard not to walk over there, tell the girl some of what I was seeing, make some minor adjustments to the fit, and suggest she take her business elsewhere. I know we certainly will. I wish my name was not tied to this review, but this experience was so horrendous, I needed to share it with others. Performance seems to have low prices, and their liberal return policy is baffling, but the service is atrocious and I would be worried about the quality of work for bike assembly and repair. I would never, ever, ever recommend anyone go here for any reason. Id send someone to Sports Authority across the parking lot first.

Short story - take your business elsewhere. Back story - Am brand new to Denver and walked into this place as its very close to where I now live. With a tubelss set up, the front wheel had a slow leak, so this was the main issue of concern. So I dropped off my bike (SS Gary Fisher Superfly) for an inspection with explicit instructions to "call me and lets take care of anything you find". So right there, the salesman manually checked the fork, wheels, brakes and drivetrain. Front wheel needed truing, other than that, everything flet good and looked good. Keep in mind, I just rode over from my apartment and had no issues. Dropped some cash on a new pair of shoes and felt pretty good. Staff were friendly and not at all pushy salesman. Took a look at a few bikes, just in case, and left for the day confident I was dealing with professionals. Get a call the next day and magically, my front brake now needs to be bled. OK, no problem, lets get it done. "Sorry, cant do it until Tuesday at the earliest." Huh? I specifically requested the brakes to be inspected, they already have my bike, they identified an issue, yet why not take action to fix it? That is what I asked for. Its not like I dont have two rides scheduled for this weekend. Oh well, cancel that. Ill rearrange my life around your incompetency. First impression and not at all impressed. The mechanic obviously had other priorities that fixing bikes. Needless to say, there are a dozen bike shops within a two mile radius of my apartment and Ill be taking my business elsewhere. I suggest you do the same.

It was time for an annual tune-up for my Sirrus. I opted for Performance Bicycle in Glendale. When I went in to pick my bike up I headed out on a ride around the Cherry Creek Dam. I began to notice problems shifting into my ride, it got so bad, that I couldnt shift out of the big ring, and the rear shifting was not good either. I took my bike back asking to speak with the manager. Justin immediately helped me. He recognized the problem, contacted his supervisor, Ben and they made the decision to refund my money for the tune-up, offered to fix the problem and give me back all the services I purchased on the Performance Service Plan! These guys stand behind their product! I couldnt have asked for more!! Really stand up guys!! Jose, their amazing mechanic fixed my bike to perfection! I will always go back to this store, not only for their honesty in making things right for the consumer, but the quality of the work I received on my bike. Thanks to Ben, Justin and Jose!! Great store, great people! Jan

Long over due post… At the beginning of the season, I had cross levers added to my handle bars on my $2500 road bike. They ordered the wrong size initially, so I had to wait an extra week to get my bike back. When I did, the guy wheeled it out with the seat raised extra high and the white bar tape was dirty. Someone was riding my bike. He noticed the seat was up too high, before I did, and promptly grabbed an Allen wrench and lowered it to what he thought looked right. Apparently he didnt care about fitting it to the 30 degree leg bend of its owner. When I got it home to clean the tape back up, I noticed that one of my white and grey lizard end caps had been replaced with a cheep black plastic plug. I called and told the manager. He said, "Just bring it back in and we can see if we can find it back in the shop." Really? I was supposed to make a special trip back up there, with my bike to see if they could find it in the shop? Good bye!
