The employees called the police on us while we were shopping. They were all smiles while we were in the store but as we left we were forced to the ground by police officers and searched and detained for about an hour. We were told that the staff suspected we had stolen some merchandise, even though they were standing by us the entire time we were in the store. Please do not support this business. EDIT: We called the police department and they informed us that the call placed to them was in response to "Two Hispanic men" in the store. PLEASE do not support this place or their discriminatory policies.

If you go there and look and not buy anything, because of high prices, poor selection or just looking at the clearance rack while killing time, you will be put on their watch list. This will not be kept confidential by employees. They will tell their friends. Your character will be defamed. Shop at Sierra Trading Post online. Their prices are much better. Their $20 co-op gimmick doesnt save you money. Buying sale items or clearance items, like at Sierra Trading Post, will save you money. Their clothing selection is more style and fashion-oriented than functional.

went into rei new years eve to purchase a down vest and to my surprise they had a 30% off sale.Seeing that checkout was ridiculously long.I inquired as to how long the sale would last. I couldnt find anyone who could answer a simple question. Eventually someone(cashier) said that the clearance would continue until all items were sold Not true. I returned 1/4 to learn that the clearance was over and all merchandise was regular price. I purchased nothing and I will continue so.An unsatisfied and disgruntled member and customer. Get your ill informed employees on message.

Need outdoor equipment that is professional grade? Need professional level outdoors experts that know the equipment and local area? If so, then look no further!! REI has what you need and training on how to use it proficiently. Cheap...no cheap stuff here! Only real rugged outdoors items from mid-range and up. Why get stuck in the great outdoors with cheap gear that breaks? Go to REI for the best gear WITH a no hassle return for any reason policy. Also, costs $20 for a lifetime membership and you receive 10% refund yearly for all purchases.

For any outdoor junkie, this is your spot. Or for those who arent too familiar but want to be, then theres great people here that are willing to help and explain anything. I really enjoy going during their 20% off member special period, they have these a few times a year. They also have garage sales of returned gear where you can really grab a deal since most stuff is barely used and its seriously makes down. You gotta be a member to go though, but it only cost $20 for lifetime membership. Not bad if you ask me.

REI is a seriously cool business. Their focus on customer service and knowledgeable employees makes every shopping experience there a delight. They always have what Im looking for and can help me find what I need. The prices are sort of high, but with a membership they become a lot lower. Also, the fact that it is a co-op where the executives have a fiduciary responsibility to customers rather than shareholders makes it a more ethical company to support in my book.

REI is the place to go when looking for outdoor equipment (hiking, camping, biking, most outdoors sports, etc.). Employees are usually friendly and knowledgeable about products and activities, although usually trying to persuade you to sign up for a membership which can be potentially off-putting. If you enjoy, need or are able to purchase a lot of items here, having a membership (to get that annual dividend!) or the REI credit card could be beneficial to you.

Ive been here four times in the past year and a half and *each time* Ive had to deal with some disgruntled worker either on the floor or at checkout. The last time I left annoyed without buying anything, and hesitated coming here today. As much as I want to blame the cashier, since its been consistent and different people, its probably the manager whose negatively promoting such poor social interactions. Or if nothing else, theyre hiring misanthropic jerks.

I just got back from the store. All i wanted to do was purchase a Gore-tex Arcteryx jacket, and they just gave me an attitude when I needed help. When I finally got to the checkout, I was going to pay in coins (bankrolls) (and yes, Im a kid who just brought his life savings :)), but they said "we have to count this change." I thought this was ridiculous, as these coins were from the bank and rolled by the bank. I just didnt feel comfortable at this store.

BEWARE! The packing lot has no security cameras! My car was broken into while I was in the store and all mine and my wifes camping gear was stolen from the trunk of our car. I lost over $3000 in gear. Apon searching the bushes in front of the store my wife found 3 pocket books stashed there from other victims. The store is aware of this and has requested security cameras but it remains a dangerous place to shop.

I went in to get a new chain. I told them I needed a 24 speed chain. They told me there was no such thing so I told them I needed a chain for a 24 speed bike. They told me there was no such thing. In the end, I had to tell them I needed a chain for a 24 speed bike. 3 gears in the front and 8 in the back. Please dont hire people who arent very knowledgeable at all. They will run you out of business.

The REI staff at this place is fantastic. They are super helpful and guided me on a day backpack that I was shopping for in preparation of my upcoming Costa Rica trip, which has since passed. It was wonderful to speak with like-minded outdoor enthusiasts such as REI staff who are passionate about the field they are in. Ive been coming here for years and its always a pleasure.

Nice big REI with good service for the most part. I was buying new hiking shoes and the girl was friendly. But when she was helping another customer she gave more in-depth advice. I eavesdropped and it actually changed the size of the shoe I was getting. I verified with another associate. But they definitely push the REI membership on you if you arent a member.

I love REI and I recommend them 100%. They are a little pricey but they stand behind their products and are extremely helpful. I once returned a pair of hiking boots after months of use because it took me that long to discover I hag the wrong size. They took them with a smile and helped me find better- fitting hiking boots.

I consider this my "hometown" REI. A bit smallish for my tastes, but its just a few months shy of being next door to a Metro station, making it very conveniently accessible from Pasadena, DTLA, and East LA. The periodic "Garage Sales" held here have always been fun shopping, even when I dont buy something. Worth a visit!

Yeah well if you do outdoors like we do then REI is the place to go for any backpacking or outdoor gear. The have some good seminars and other events that are community based. They staff the store with good knowledgeable people who generally want to help you get out the most of whatever youre looking to purchase.
