I live right on the back side of the mall, because the convenience of its location is a blessing, because I do not have a car to drive. I guess my biggest problem with this particular model is that it is a magnet for all the indigent and homeless and people who are trying to scam you out of your money. There are people hanging around this small at all hours of the day and night even overnight as I can see them from my bedroom window. It is difficult to walk home without being accosted by somebody asking for money or or something. Even the Walmart in a Costco in this mall has instituted a program where people must leave their backpacks in large person in a secured locker because of the abuse by certain people who are trying to steal and you know shoplift from these stores. This is not a really big mall but it is fairly nice and convenient for me for most of my shopping. Although there are several fast food restaurants and a sit-down dining establishment on the periphery of this property I really wish that there were an actual food court inside of the mall, where you could go to without having to leave the building: particularly if youre doing most of your shopping inside the mall. There are several anchor establishments here namly Walmart, Costco, Harkins Theater, JC Penneys and Target . I would really like to see more variety of stores in the mall. And for the stores that have closed, they need to have something put in their place: and make this a destination location, instead of just a convenience location.

Actually the name has changed again. It is now Cript-Town Spectrum Mall. The glory days of Chris-Town Mall. Retro. The Phoenix area of the 1960s was a vastly smaller and more intimate community than the sprawling and ungainly megalopolis that now overruns the Valley of the Sun. Up until Park Central, then Chris-Town all shopping was Down-Town. Del Webb Corporation built Chris-Town on eighty acres of farm land east of 19th Ave. and south of Bethany Home Rd. The first indoor air-conditioned mall in Arizona. Chris Harri, was the Swiss born farmer who sold Del Webb the land for Chris-Town in 1955 and for whom the mall was named. He died in 1971 at the age of 94. Chris-Town opened its doors for the first time at 10:00am on August 24, 1961. An estimated 130,000 visitors arrived in the 11 hours between opening and closing that day. KUPD did a three day broadcast from Bills Records. El Rancho grocers opened up and gave away S & H Green Stamps. The Broadway. Korricks. Montgomery Wards. Guggys Coffee Shop. Penneys. Piccadilly Cafeteria. Miracle Mile Deli. Are but a few business I went in. Robert Kennedy made an appearance and spoke on March 30, 1968. "We Want Bobby" My Mom was GOP Ha! The Fountain Court in the center of the mall was the scene of many special events over the years, and was frequented in the 60s and early 70s by a very popular organ grinder and his monkey. I gave money to that monkey. Orange Julius and Pizza DAmore. MMM 5*s baby~

I have been coming here since I moved to Phoenix last August. For the most part beside the typical mall annoyances, it was the perfect mall; That is, until TODAY. Today, I came a little later than normal and attempted to buy food @ the little pizza place next to Costcos just to be told I can not purchase anything else because they are closed. I was annoyed then waited a few more minutes and went over to the philly steak place across from there to be told the same thing. I then went over to use the restroom and I was told that too was closed...At 7:00PM! Now I do take some responsibility for not paying attention to the hours listed on google but I guess because I usually pass through to visit Walmart I never had to notice. But what in the heck mall closes so early on a Saturday ??? I have never heard of such a thing! And then even if the food places closes, what bathroom close that late considering people are still passing through from surrounding stores. I understand to some degree they may close early due to teenagers being out of school and we know they can sometimes be a handful. But why not just increase security? I am highly disappointed and it seems I am only one of the few that doesnt know. After all others around me seem to know but they are from here and I am not. For all these reasons I only give them three stars.

Lets be honest, Costco is the only thing saving this mall. It used to be great back in the day. Lots of conventions, events, a food court, lots of trafic and stores inside. That is of a long time past, there is no food court anymore, half the stores are closed, and the other half that remains are shabby homemade storefronts. Oh and there is that God awful kiddie amusement ride getup located next to walmart where the cashier is also the ticket person which is also the ride operator. There is also the occasional racket of loud noise that occurs when the costco employee trains in his hourly haul of shopping carts straight through the front door of the mall. Ive never seen that occur at any other mall but apparentley thats OKAY with this one. Dont know why it has 3 stars because that would make it an "okay" mall. cant think of any reason other than Costco as to why a person would choose to come to this mall over any other mall in arizona. The mall is outdated and very short. Dont think anyone who hasnt been would want to come here but if you do be prepared. Most of the business sorrounding the whole plaza where this mall is located have pretty substandard clientele too, other than say... target or petsmart. Whatever you do dont step into Walmart or Ross.

The whole mall is not the greatest, but my specific beef is with the Americas Best at Christown. They are the absolute worst glasses company that I have ever dealt with and I have been wearing glasses or contacts since I was 6 years old! I went in there a few years ago and got my glasses and contact prescriptions updated. I had to visit multiple times and threaten legal action JUST to receive my contacts prescription. They did not provide the glasses scrip. My prescription is good until 10 days from now, and they REFUSED to give my my glasses prescription without a specific form, stating that it would be a HIPPA violation, which is not true. they just do not want you to use that scrip with someone else... they are snide, rude and unprofessional. additionally, their corporate office is a joke. I sent them an email requesting that they send me the form that i needed to send in and the fax number for that horrible location at Christown mall. They replied that it was a HIPPA violation for them to tell me my prescription and nothing else. needless to say, i sent them a scathing reply letting them know that this was going to be happening - i am letting the UNIVERSE know that this store is terrible!

Wal Mart employees not very handicap friendly. Great selection. Kids are almost always running lose. The Mexican restaurant close by Wal Mart very tasty. Also reasonable. Plus no problem using my handicap scooter. Costco wasnt impressive. Dirty and stuff looked crowded. Employees didnt care to help around doors or service desk. So we didnt join. We felt Target too expensive. Employee refused to walk a few feet to help handicap person. We love KFC chicken fried steak on Mondays. Soda machines are not always working. We enjoy Taco Bell/ Pizza Hut and Carls Jr food. Not impressed with the Wal Greens. This one or one on Glendale. So went to CVS on Glendale. Very impressed. Definitely will be going back. Even when dont need prescriptions. Keep up the great work CVS.
