November 2012 I went to San Tan VW to purchase my first car. I was looking through the used cars, and a red Beetle caught my eye. I had been driving a very worn out car, so when test driving this Bug, I fell in love. I ended up buying the car, and I 100% regret my decision to do this. When i purchased the car, I didnt look close enough to see that the front ends paint had been touched up. I cant take my car through a car wash, because the touch up paint comes right off. I first thought that I had alot of bugs on my front bumper, until I looked closer and saw that it was really just specks of missing paint. I told VW this, and they gave me a bottle of paint to use to cover it with, which I appreciated, but to be paying $17,000 for a car, I shouldnt have to touch up my paint on a monthly basis. I had also noticed two other problems with this car. My ignition would lock constantly. After I took out the key and bumped the steering wheel on my way out, and it would lock. So the next time I got into my car it was a game of jamming my steering wheel left and right and trying to turn the key until I could actually get it to unlock and turn the car on. The other problem would happen when I close my trunk hatch. Unless I slammed it unreasonably hard, It wouldnt close completely, and my trunk light would be on. I went to VW about this, and they let me know they would need to order a part for the ignition, and mentioned it would cost me $50, even though the car was still under warranty. I was informed that it would take a couple weeks for the part to come in, but by time I was able to bring my car in again, it was over a month later. When I dropped my car off, I was not informed I would have to pay anything. It wasnt until I went to pick my car up that I was reminded about the $50 for the part. I was 18, and living on my own, and had literally just paid my rent the day before, so I had no money. After about 45 min of trying to get this $50, I was way past my breaking point, and I was in tears. I was extremely blessed this day, because upon speaking with my bank, and being denied a loan trying to get this money, a gentleman from my bank asked to speak with VW, gave them his card number, and paid for it personally. I was in complete shock, and more grateful than anyone could ever know. I just dont understand why Ive had such terrible luck with this car. The people at VW have always been extremely kind, and remember you when you come in. I speak with one gentleman almost every time I go, and told him once that I feel as if VW took this car and fixed it up so that it seemed good enough to sell, and that within the time I had it, that it was falling apart. The terrible thing is that he even agreed with me. It sucks to have to learn a lesson this way, especially being so young and paying alot money for something that isnt worth that much. I know San Tan VW is a great car dealership (my parents bought a car here too), but I really feel like I got burned by them. I dont think I could take my business here again.

This was my daughters first dealership experience (shell be graduating from high school soon and we were looking for a "newer" car for her) and mine and my husband’s first dealership experience in many years that didn’t involve buying from a family member (lots of family members in the car biz) so we were a little apprehensive. We had researched and had a few different brands in mind including the VW. San Tan VW had two of the brands (used) on the lot and Marty Katz (AWESOME Sales Rep) took his time letting us explore each and guiding us while we made our decision. Knowing my daughter was going to be the driver he made sure to include her in the discussion and experience the whole way through. Once we decided he got us to Brian who made the purchase process fast and easy and even beat my banks interest rate! Awesome job by all! They even stayed late to finish the deal and when we got halfway home and realized my daughter had left her parking pass in our trade and we raced back an employee (sorry I didn’t get his name) who was locking up unlocked the building, got the keys to our trade and helped us get the parking pass right then. In the short time it took him to get the keys, another employee who was obviously on his way home as well stopped to tell us even more great features about the Jetta we had just purchased, which he didn’t have to do since we’d already purchased. That pride and loyalty to the product as well as commitment to customer service (before and after the sale) is what sets San Tan VW apart from other brands and dealerships. No pressure, just the simple confidence that if left to choose we would see that the VW was the superior product and we did! A little bit more on the service after the sale. When we were wrapping up the purchase and Marty was presenting the car to us, a wonderful experience in itself (you’d have thought it was a brand new [insert some outrageously expensive overpriced car brand here] instead of a pre-owned Jetta) we noticed that there was only one key. With a teenager driving the car and especially since the key is the special switchblade type with the remote all together in one there is no way we could not have had a second key. Marty assured us it wasn’t a problem; that he’d get a second ordered for us right away at no charge. Awesome! Marty kept in touch while the key was on order letting me know he wasn’t forgetting about us and making sure we were not just content or happy but delighted with our purchase. Today while my daughter was dropping off the car to get the key programmed Marty came out and shook her hand and thanked her for her business and wished her and our family a Merry Christmas. Thank you Marty for proving my point, you’re an amazing person! Wonderful experience and Im betting my daughter will now be a VW owner for life. We’ll be recommending San Tan VW and Marty Katz and team to our friends and family as well as probably seeing you again soon for a new car for me!

We went to the San Tan VW dealership to look at a used white 2010 Honda Civic on 2/6/14. 19 year old ****** worked with us on test driving the Honda, gave us the vehicle background (lie) and stated it had never been in an accident, wreck, the car fax was clean, and that an old couple traded in the car 2 weeks prior to ****** for a VW Passat and only used it for groceries; turns out these were ALL lies. After the test drive we sit down to discuss financing where ****** shows us some monthly payment options and states that no interest rate was included in the rate (turns out standard interest rate is always included in a quote), then after a bad feeling with all of ******s stories I contacted a friend to do quick research on the vehicle searching by vin #. Turns out ****** had lied about almost everything, the car had been in a wreck, airbag deployed, among other mechanical issues, the vehicle was sold at auction to a Honda dealer that San Tan VW owns, not brought in by an old couple and traded for a VW. Once I confronted ****** about the facts, he turned bright red, ran to his manager (guy with glasses) and came back with the car fax and another story about how the Honda dealer that purchased the vehicle at auction had not informed anyone about the wreck. I was infuriated with ****** and his manager for lying for over an hour as well as wasting my time, not to mention that he lied about the car fax, the story behind the vehicle, and put my girls life in danger by almost selling an unfit vehicle, just to make $150 and get it off the lot. To make matters even worse, ****** called my cell phone on Friday trying to explain his reasoning for lying, I wanted nothing to do with him so I hung up. Then, he sends me a text message "I just wanted to let you know that I really didnt know it had a bad carfax...I did lie about the previous owner however only because I sold 2 cars yesterday and if I wouldve sold 3 I wouldve made $150 so I chose to lie and I sincerely apologize even if it means nothing to you. What I was also going to say was Id like to personally fill up your gas tank out of my pocket and then you never have to hear or see me again. Im really not a bad person even you think that." There are so many things wrong with this whole situation; lying, harassment, justification for misleading someone, all for $150, and being that this kid is 19 years old, it speaks volumes about his training and the company he works for. This experience gives credibility to the horrible stigma that all car salesmen are thieves and liars, and if I was a car salesmen and was honest and played by the rules, Id be pissed off that situations like this feed the negativity associated with the job. Lastly, I should have done some research beforehand as after we left the dealership we looked up San Tan VW on **** and the ratings/stories are not good; for that I take the blame.
