I brought my car in to get new tires this week. While I love the tires I chose, the price of them was good, and the process went smoothly, the service department left a lot to be desired. I typically take my car to Dahls downtown location to have it serviced by a technician I know and trust, but Onalaska decided to inspect my car anyway. I was initially hesitant of the quality of Dahls car inspections because I got an oil change in January and it noted that all of my tires had over 6/32" of tread depth. When I came in for an alignment (that they recommended I do) in early March about 500 miles later, I was told that my front tires needed to be replaced immediately and the rear tires were worn as well. Eventually I decided on the tires that I wanted and made an appointment to get them changed in Onalaska out of convenience (the appointment was in late March). After they had changed the tires, they performed an alignment check. Supposedly, in the three weeks that had elapsed since my last alignment, my car was "VERY" out of alignment. They recommended that it be aligned immediately. I told them that they could take the tires off if they were going to charge me $100 for a service I had performed less than a month ago (and 250 miles before)! They also said that my front axle seal needed to be replaced at a cost of $330. They also recommended that my car have a brake fluid exchange for $85.95. They also noticed a "sudden" dip in my cars brake lining, recommended I replace the CV joint, and recommended that I get new windshield wipers (I got new ones a year ago and have noticed no decrease in wiper quality). After learning of these supposed issues, I called my technician at Dahls downtown location. He swore to me that he was 99% sure that none of those things needed to be done. He had just inspected my car two weeks earlier! In fact, he said that the Onalaska location likes to "upsell" its customers. If I would have fixed everything Dahl Onalaska recommended, I wouldve paid about $2000 (including $700 for the tires). The only reason I continue going to Dahl is because of the technician I know downtown. I have never had a problem with him or my car, and he gives sensible responses whenever something is worn or needs replacing. He obviously makes sure that he is checking the cars well and caring for the financial well-being of his customers. My recommendation for everyone is that they get a second opinion on their car for repairs. Either that, or take your car downtown. Car technicians need to build trust with their customers, and my trust of this location is gone.

I took my car in for The Works oil change that included a tire rotation, fluids top-off, and several routine checks/tests. When I called to see if it was done, I was told that my air filter was dirty and needed to be replaced. I said no thanks; I could change it myself. Then they told me that my break pads were at 3mm and they could replace them today because when they get down to 2mm, you need to change them asap. I found this a little odd because I havent had them that long so I told them I would have my father change them. When I got to the dealership to pick up my car, everything was repeated more insistently and they told me about a current special I could take advantage of. No thank you, I just want my $40 rebate oil change. A couple weeks later, I was about to change my air filter only to come to the conclusion that it was perfectly fine and probably wouldnt need to be replaced until next year. (I even had my dad confirm this.) So Ive been driving around with a spare air filter in my trunk. Fast forward 4 months when I took my car in to get the muffler fixed at my usual auto shop in my hometown. I mentioned how the break pads may be getting thin and my mechanic said he would take a look. When I picked up my car the next day, I was informed that my break pads were at 5 mm (this being 4 months after I was told they were down to 3mm. Hmm, odd.) and should last until November at the earliest. These people tried to take advantage of the young college girl who might not know anything about cars and would take their advice point blank. Thank goodness I looked into it myself and saved at least a hundred bucks! I will not be going back.

I purchased a 2010 Ford Escape a week ago. My initial contact was with Heather Wantoch. I asked for her advice on scheduling a test drive and speaking to a sales associate. Despite the fact that Heather was at another location, she contacted a sales associate and scheduled an appt. for me. She referred me to Shane Lawrence in sales. She followed up with me periodically via text messaging to ensure I was having a good experience, that my questions & concerns were being addressed, and that Shane was providing great service. She offered to come in-person if I wanted her to at any point. Shane Lawrence was my sales associate and he was phenomenal! I genuinely could not have received better service from anyone else! He is so friendly, honest, accommodating, and trust-worthy! Shane is the kind of sales associate that will go to the ends of the earth for his customers! Ive been back to the dealership several times since purchasing my vehicle to finalize some details with the sale and Ive worked with Shane every time. I worked with Josh Anderson for the finance portion of the sale. He performed at the same exceptional level as his co-workers. He was also incredibly friendly and customer-oriented. He took excellent care of me! I simply cannot say enough good things about Heather, Shane, and Josh. This was my first experience purchasing a vehicle through a dealership and I was very nervous. Especially with how big Dahl Automotive is in the La Crosse area. But after my experience, I cant imagine doing it any other way going forward. A million "thank yous" to this team!

We went to the dealership to look at cars because our primary family vehicle was experiencing a slow and painful death. We werent really ready to buy, but we had done our research on the cars before so we were at least educated. Nate met us in the parking lot and showed us cars that met our criteria. We were pretty simple, we needed something reliable that had third row seating for our large family, and not a van. Nate helped us find a 2014 Ford Explorer that fit us perfectly! With heating all the way through, and a LOVELY blue color, we were in love! Nate worked hard to get us a price we were happy to jump on no questions asked! We even purchased (for an amazingly low price) a protection plan that protects the windshield, undercarriage (which is completely necessary for our lovely Wisconsin weather), dents, and most importantly, protects the interior for LIFE!! We have three children and a dog.... this is incredibly important to us. If the kids stain the seats, they clean it. If they cant clean it, they replace it. For ever. Life cant get much stress free with that type of guarantee! Oh! And it has a couple of warranties to protect us if something goes mechanically wrong. Im so glad we went to Dahl, and we will be sure to go back for our future car needs. Thanks to all the employees and staff there who helped us with this purchase. :)
