Total train wreck. We were going to purchase a bike for our son. The salesperson said it was unassembled but it would just take 30 minutes to assemble it. So we paid for it, and went to the Trader Joes next door to pass the time. We came back and the salesperson saw us and said it would just be a few more minutes. After quite a while, there was still no bike. Another salesperson approached us and we asked her about the bike. She returned from the backroom and said that they had not even started, and that it would take another hour! We asked to speak to the manager. He came over, and explains that we were quite lucky that we would get our bike the same day because normally, they had a 1-2 day turnaround (of course we were supposed to know that, even though his salesperson had told us it would be ready in 30 minutes). He asked us what he could do to make things right. Short on time, our child getting tired and cranky, we asked if they could deliver it instead. He said he didnt have a car. He also said it wasnt his fault that our child was tired and cranky. (How one becomes a retail manager without learning to exhibit a modicum of empathy with ones customers is beyond me.) That flippant comment about not being at fault for our chlids disposition broke the camels back. We ask to for a refund (wed already paid for the bike). We also decided to return all the other accessories that we had purchased along with it (to which he expressed surprise). I said that we would just purchase all these at REI or another store (to which he said, "With your attitude, good luck with that!" Through all these, we never raised our voices. We just stated what we had gone through. We felt that the manager just gave us lip service. He was not accommodating. He interrupted me quite a few times to state store policy (1-2 day turnaround for assembly). Needless to say, this store is a disappointment. It has a great location (Roosevelt and 45th) just off the Ave. Gorgeous art deco building. However, for a class act, I would strongly recommend going a mile or so south to the REI flagship store. Now, thats a class act!

David in the service department is one of the most helpful techs I have ever worked with. Recently, I spoke with him about the cost for installing a new fork. The next day, I decided to do it myself, but in the process, I trashed the crown race. Sheepishly, I called on the phone to see if they had any crown races. He told me to come on in with the fork and he would try and find a match. We spent about 10 minutes going through all of the crown races, measuring mine with a caliper etc to find one with the closest match. Great service for a $2 part. Another time, I had a front wheel that I had bought there that had developed some play in the hub. It was a sealed hub so it was non-adjustable, but he took it into the shop to play around with it. He also did some online research to determine whether others were having the same issue. When he couldnt find anything, he warranty replaced it. In another situation, I had a rear rack that I had bought there break. They warranty replaced it, but I only had half of the tools to install it with me. The service department gave me a bike stand and loaned me a wrench so I could replace it in the store.

This is my first review in a long time. We went here looking for a bike, and although the selection and price seemed good, we were so turned off by the customer service we will not be spending a dime here. We walked in and the one person working did not even so much as say, hi or welcome or anything. We dismissed it and continued looking around. We looked around for over 30 minutes without even a word or help at all from the employee. The point of going to an actual bike store over a Walmart or fredmeyer is for their knowledge and experience in the field. But if the employees wont say a single word to you, I see no point and paying the little extra for such. Even though we found a bike I really liked there, and we planned on buying all the accessories there, we left without a single item. Sorry to the owner but that employee lost you a sale. I wouldnt go here unless you already know what you want because the employees are no help.

Ive gone here multiple times for various parts and accessories. Every time Ive come and asked for advice for a fix they pitch you the most expensive fix. Seriously, its so painfully obvious that they just want your money. If youre a student at UW just go to the asuw bike store even if performance is closer, itll be cheaper and more friendly. PS manager gives bad advice, I had a inner tube flat and the manager immediately told me it was because I installed it wrong, bought another innertube taking the advice he gave me for installation and got another flat 1 mile in, turns out it was the tire that was causing the flats. Very frustrating.

I gave it a 5 star rating simply because I had a great experience buying and ordering stuff there with the help of Lisa. She made sure things were right, that I found what I wanted, that what I needed to have ordered was done (while giving me the best price). I cant say about their entire store, or other staff members, but I did have a good experience at this store. (At another performance store I found good equipment and prices but horrible communication from a staff member on a big order). This was good. Thank you Lisa and Performance.

After a bad experience at Greggs Cycle, I headed up to Performance Bikes. The sales staff were very knowlegeable, helpful, and willing to work with me, my whims and my budget instead of pressuring me to get a new bike. They even gave me a break on the repairs when they could not true my tire 100% because of the rusty spokes. They have very good sales, and I will definately keep shopping here for all my cycling needs :)

I came in with a mechanical issue that I did not have the tool to fix. Matt and Eric were very helpful, and got me on my way quickly. Both were very friendly and I was happy to get help right away on a busy Sunday afternoon. There was one guy there that was not as helpful - not sure if it was because he had an arm in a sling, or it was just his attitude. Maybe one had something to do with the other!

I waited around for a few minutes at the service desk, needing to buy a part. I didnt even get acknowledged. So I went to the sales desk to ask whats up and they sent me to the service desk again, saying they would "call in". I was ignored for a while longer and left. Even when I do get their attention they dont seem knowledgeable or helpful. I wont go back.

Questionable service. Once they tried to charge me three times the posted price. Another time I picked up my bike after a service and found the rear cassette was very loose and a wheel wasnt trued! Another time they ordered a wheel for me, the tracking said it was delivered a few days ago, and they said it didnt arrive. Ill go to Recycled Cycles instead.
