Nice shop/inventory, bike techs are nice, the work seems to be quality. The guy who I think is the lead tech doesnt listen very well though. I recently moved to Tacoma. Ive tried out a few different bike shops. Tacoma Bike Proctor is OK, but Im still looking. I took my bike there because the bottom bracket was making noise. They sold me on a tune-up and advised this would alleviate the bottom bracket noise I was experiencing. I also described my riding style to them (slow cadence). When I got my bike back, it shifts wonderfully for a fast cadence riding style, not as well for slow cadence. This is an easy adjustment for me to fix, but annoying none-the-less. I had also requested a brake conversion. During the brake conversion, they decided I needed new brake pads. I did, thats fine, I did ask them to work on the brakes. They went with a set of replaceable-cartridge-type brake pads that cost approximately twice as much as the pads Ive been using. Overall, this is not what I would have selected, given an option, however I was open to this, I do go through brakes, so easier swap-outs are a bonus. Until I took the hill downtown fully loaded with my big butt, my garment bag, and my computer bag going down the hill for the first time after the tune-up and the new pads glazed over halfway down the hill. I looked up some reviews on the pads that they selected on Amazon and others have had similar problems. I immediately took the pads off of my bike, and replaced them with a set I was more comfortable with. When I took the pads back to Tacoma Bike and described my experience, they did provide a refund, so overall that reinforces their value/brand for me. All of the work they did took exactly twice as long as they had originally promised (original expectation was 1 week, I stopped in on the promise day, they told me it would be one more day, theyd call me when it was done and still didnt call me for an additional week). The bottom bracket still made noise when I got my bike back. I ended up pulling it apart and re-packing the bearing, which eliminated the noise (for now at least). Also, this is small, but my seat was adjusted significantly lower when I got the bike back than when I had dropped it off. I realize that they tend to ride the bike briefly as part of the tune-up, and may need to adjust the seat to do this, however in my experience most bike shops at-least try to get your seat back to the right height. So, in summary, they were nice to talk to. The quality of work they did was good, but the lead tech doesnt listen very well. Next time I feel like trying a different bike shop I may try Tacoma Bike, but will go with a different location.

"Repairs guaranteed" sure.......... I came in with an older bike to be repaired after crashing only a couple days ago. I waited about 5 minutes until 1 of 2 guys broke away from trying to sell bikes to help me. Granted, one guy was very friendly. He took my bike back and told me a couple things about what was wrong. All in all it took about 10 minutes, he did not charge me. Im frustrated because I wasnt looking for free repairs. I took a very hard spill on my bike, and just wanted it to be fixed without the pedals locking up like they were doing. I wanted to ride again without the fear of a malfunction. $4000 bikes in the shop youd think the repairs would actually be guaranteed..... I go to get back on it this morning, and the exact same thing happened. It looks like he didnt do anything. The rear wheel is still detached and it wont pedal. Nothing changed from when I went across town to bring it in the shop. Of course I fell off, again, and had to find a ride to work.

I recently bought a new bike from Tacoma Bike and have been loving it. I got the Giant Escape 1. The owner personally spent about an hour fitting me to the bike so it would be comfy for my commutes and general errands. Customer service was top notch. I also brought one of my backup bikes in for service as I had a cracked rim. They had the bike in and out in no time and it looks awesome with its new black rear rim, i requested the color. So much so that Im hoping the front rim gets a crack soon so i can replace that one with a black rim also ;) Great customer service, cant stress that enough. No matter what my question was, i was met a smile and a very knowledgable response. Definitely would refer a friend or family member here in the future!

I bought an Escape 2 as well as an Alight 2 from this LBS, and the experience could not have gone any better. Everyone from the front of the house to the repair shop were very helpful. Zero attempts to be pushy or upsell. Let all the bikes we test rode sell themselves. They even came outside and helped put together/install my new hitch rack. This was my first time visiting this LBS, and I felt like we were treated as good as regulars. Will be back:) Thanks!

This is a non-pretentious bike shop where folks are honest, and not out to push the most expensive equipment, but to find what is most functional for what it is that you need in bike. My wife and I brought in our 14 month old daughter and felt very welcomed. The people that helped us find our ideal bike even played with her in the store! We were all very pleased with our experience at tacoma bike, and will definitely recommend it to those we know.

I have no idea who the person other reviewers are complaining about is, perhaps they are no longer working there. I have been a regular at this shop since buying my first road bike from them 3 months ago. Every one there is so nice and helpful and willing to chat about bikes or whatever for hours. They do great, fast work, and give good advice and are never pushy salespeople. Love this little store.

Words cannot express the extra mile Mike and his team went for me this past month. This shop goes above and beyond to make sure you are out on a bike and having fun. Not only did they help get me into an awesome bike - but even went the extra mile to help me use a loaner while it was on the way so I could get outside in the woods and sun. Thank you :)

Such a great place! Always good customer service and very friendly staff. My bike was in for repair longer than expected, and I needed a bike for vacation. They loaned me a bike to ride until mine was fully repaired and ready to ride. Wish I could give a 6 star review!!

Always very helpful for me. Im not the best customer; I do my own repair work. But I regularly drop in for bits and pieces that I dont have. Also, they have been able to order custom parts for me at very competitive prices. Support your Local Bike Shop!!

I went in with a bike I had found and they filled the tires and did a quick inspection for free. They also have everything you need to be an efficient rider. Check them out if you need anything bike related.
