I have shopped at Performance Bike in Tacoma for almost 20 years. I have always been shown excellent service. I just called the other day about an issue with my brakes that I had after having the work done by a bike shop near my home in Federal Way. The person I spoke with was extremely helpful and cheerful and gave me some advice on how to fix the problem myself. I could tell the store was extremely busy, but I was given as much time as I needed to work on my issue. I eventually took my bike (which I had purchased else where) in for diagnostic work. I was called the next day and told my bike was ready. I was told that my old brakes had basically baked onto the rims. I had tried the alcohol as they suggested, an abrasive scrubber and even some sand paper all to no avail. I was told they soaked the rims and the scrubbed off the baked on rubber. When I went in to pick up my bike I was amazed that there was no charge!!! I also witnessed a novice customer who had many question given a very large amount of time, with the store full of crated bikes and many customers. The service I was given and witnessed was beyond any customer service I have received at any other bike shop. I know where I am going for service or for any other bicycling needs!

DISHONEST I brought my $1,500 road bike in to have a simple rear tire change. This bike has only ever been used for stationary use and has been babied from the time of purchase. The man assisting us was hopping around on one leg because he had injured the other. After we received our bike back, we noticed when we got home that the entire wheel was bent and wobbled from side so badly that it rubbed the break pads. All I can guess is that he put too much pressure on the wheel while changing it—due to his injury. By the time we noticed the serve wobble at home, the shop had closed. First thing the next day I called the shop and they said that they would take a look at our issue. Upon coming into the shop and calmly pointing out the obvious issues. Hop-a-long started yelling at us. He acted unprofessional and incredibly immature , calling us names and making an uproar. Best he did was give us back the $11 we paid for the service. I guess you get what you pay for. I called their main location and at first the regional manager was going to do an investigation, but after he spoke with the man who helped us all they could simply say was that our bike was previously like this. They are a dishonest company and I would not recommend.

Walked in there and started looking around for the helmets, seen their selection was terrible. They mustve had only 6 different styles, none of which were full face. So I try to get the guys attention at the counter but he kept talking to this nice looking lady who just bought a bike, and from what I got out of the conversation he was trying to hit on her. He didnt want to break the conversation even when it was obvious she did. Finally after a few minutes of standing there hoping he would acknowledge my presence (its just us 3 in the store), I interrupted and asked where their full face helmets were. He replied with "We dont have any in store. You can order those on our website." Then he went back to telling this lady about his accomplishments. I seriously dont understand how people act like that. Here I am trying to support a small business, and Im faced with some rude ***hole that wont give me the time of day. All over an item any self respecting bike shop should carry. A full face helmet. Come on.

!! PARANOID, RUDE, WOULD PROBABLY NEVER GO BACK !! They apparently thought I was shoplifter just because I was looking around for a long time! I went there 5/7/2016, and was asked by four sales people in a row, one after another, with an increasingly rude/aggressive tone, if I needed any help, I got the message that I was being asked to leave because I was somehow acting suspiciously! Nothing could be further from the truth!! I asked several questions but did look around a long time because I havent ridden since my teens many years ago and had a lot of time on my hands because I was waiting for a phone call. If your going to accuse someone of stealing or even looking suspicious then DO IT !! DON"T HARASS PEOPLE !! Little did they know I could have bought even the most expensive bike they had there! but they probably thought I was just some punk/shoplifter with no money! My experience there was the complete opposite of Bike Tech thats just up the street. Ill take my business to Bike Tech instead !!

It is dangerous to trust this company. The good thing about them is their happy attitude about customer service, but I dont go there for happy customer service, so I am giving this 1 star. The reason I say they are dangerous to trust: The first time I left my bike there to be repaired, my handlebars came loose during my next ride, and were useless. My front breaks were loose. The gears no longer shifted properly. A bolt that holds the back-wheel cage came out. My break levers were loose and the bolts stripped. This is the first reason I say they are dangerous to trust. There is one more reason. I bought tires that were advertised to be especially strong gripping in wet weather. The first time I used them in the rain, my bike was as if it was on an ice skating rink. Unfortunately I was in traffic and almost got hit by a car. Then the back wheel slid out and I fell over in front of a car, and the person had to hit the breaks.

I have been coming here for a few years now and have yet to have a bad experience. The bikes are top notch, great work and service from the staff, and even better prices compared to other sporting stores. I have purchased two bikes from them and their lifetime free adjustments and tuning is great. The employees are experienced and very knowledgeable. I recently went in for a new saddle and instead of showing me the stock and walking away like other stores, we had a conversation about my concerns and what was the best long term solution which was to get a Brooks Saddle. I am very happy I went in and talked with them. Their advice was great and I LOVE the new saddle. I cant imagine going anywhere else. About me: I have been cycling for 4 years now, about 2,500 miles per year, do my own mechanic work, and train upcoming riders.

I wanted a pair of shoes but the store didnt have the size I needed, so I was advised to use the website. I found the shoes and ordered them and chose the ship-to-store option. I was still charged for shipping (so Im not sure what the point of that option is). Furthermore, although the items were in stock, the estimated delivery date in my confirmation email was four weeks out! I emailed and requested an explanation for this and asked to cancel my email, but was of course informed "once your order is submitted and received it is processed almost immediately". None of my other concerns were addressed. Apparently they can take your money a lot faster than they can stick something in a box.
