The staff at Performance Bicycle San Rafael couldnt pick the right size bike for an individual if their lives depended on it! Thank goodness I came in contact with Louis, the bike mechanic in the back with 23 years of experience, who saw me straddling the ill fitting bike, advised me on the correct size and told me everything I needed to know. In addition to this lack of competency, the staff (except for Louis) is impatient and rude. Excuse me for not living and breathing bicycles. If it werent for their good pricing on Fuji bicycles (and Louis), I would never have given them my business. I also felt much more comfortable buying a service plan with them after I met Louis, the only Performance employee I will trust with my bike.

bought a killer bike. Spent a pretty penny on it. Not only was my fuji bike about a $600 cheaper than competitors brands for the same bike. Proformence Bikes had it 5% cheaper than MSRP and I got 20% points back to get all the extras I was dieing to get. Some of their mechanics are not as good as others but the ones that know their stuff are excellent. Ok a new high end bike makes and bike mechanic drop the greacy beater their working on to help fit. All the other shops i went to with my older bike were even more snooty. If you want value and over time great service this is the place to go. I would say Proformance bikes is the Bestbuy of bike shops. Great prices, great value incentives and a good selection.

Just dont go here. The younger service tech has attitude and apparently will sabotage your own repair work. I went in to get some spokes to fix a wheel. When I told the tech I was going to true the rim myself he got upset and then went in the back and changed the nuts on the spokes so they didnt fit. Geez, some people! Just save your money and go somewhere else. Its not like there arent any bike shops in Marin.

Ive had mixed experiences with them. I joined their "club" years ago and they kept renewing my membership without asking me and charging my card. Yes, my mistake, but I dont like companies that do that and wont do business afterwards. I have found some things there were a good price that I couldnt find easily nearby.

Performance bike carries only entry level equipment and every single employee is an arrogant Jerk. Ive had nothing but terrible experiences at the chain. I recommend Mikes bikes any day.

Good selection of equipment, parts and tools. Attendant helpful and their prices are decent. A primary place to shop moony several in Marin County. A must to check out.
