So my complaint stems from 2 years ago, and is surfacing yet again now. This is how the problem started: I dropped off my vintage Schwinn with the dad and son team that run this place. They quoted me $60 for a little bit of a tune up, some new tubes and brake cables. I felt that was reasonable. I got the call to come pick up my bike, it was ready. I got the bike loaded in my car (not an easy feat for me) got all the way home, stepped down on the pedal to test it out, and the pedal spun.... It was like they had not tested it at all before calling me to pick it up. Then the unfortunate news came. Upon a second look (again by the owner) he decided the original quote was nowhere near the cost of the work and that the work needed would total $120.... double the original estimate! I was shocked. Im a single mom and my budget is small. I was sooooo upset that I still did not have an operational bike! They informed me that I needed a new gear shifter, which they did replace for free due to all of the trouble. So knowing that they were doing that in good faith, trying to make it right with me I coughed up the money, and eventually pick up my fixed bike. Flash forward two years... the gear shifter they "fixed" has never worked right, it constantly slips out of first gear into second... Ive dealt with it and babied it along. The other day on a bike ride the gears stopped working all together. The pedal once again spun freely and I was back to square one. Thankfully I was with my boyfriend who knows bikes (unlike myself) and he got it working. But when I told him this story he was upset and felt like I had been majorly ripped off. When he took my bike up the road to Bike N HIke they found the problem, Classic Cycle had used the wrong cables and although it was functional they had not fixed it right initially. Bike n Hike charge $12 and I was on my way the next day. I highly recommend that you DO NOT have work done at this place. I really wanted to like this shop, they did seem like nice people, however I will never return. Their actions and how they do business speak volumes.

I have had multiple bikes fixed here over the past eight years, and have had nothing by great experiences. My most recent experience was a modification for my sons bike. This bike was handed down from his big brother, and was not shifting correctly due to its age. Al suggested a new derailleur and shifter. He had both in stock, and installed them the same day. My son has been very pleased. The bike shifts promptly and accurately. I paid less than half the price of a new bike (this bike was a cheaper bike from a local sports store). It works better than a new bike of the same type, and my son is proud to own a bike that is personalized to him. This is the second year he has been riding it with the new derailleur. I am going back tomorrow to see if Al can modify the same bike by adding a front derailleur; Im trying to turn this bike into a small mountain bike, so my youngest can keep up with his big brother on the trail. The service I have received here has always been top notch.

I have been a customer of Classic Cycle for about 10 years, expert service, good prices, always with a smile. New and used bikes, parts you name it, as well as a family friendly shop. I cant imagine what kind of bad day some must have had to leave such untruthful and angry reviews, but I know Al give him a chance, he will make it right. In addition to Classic Cycles, Al also runs a charity that gives away bicycles and offers free repair services to the needy every 1st & 2nd Saturday of every month at 916 Linn Avenue at 10 am. He also opens his door to at risk youth, helping them to learn the bicycle trade, and make better life choices. Als good people, and will always have my support.

Far more than just classic bikes!! They have full carbon road bikes, mountain bikes, bmx, classics, etc... They are also very knowledgeable on electric bikes! Pretty much everything bike related! The owner, Al, was super friendly. I told him that I was looking for about 10 chain links for a bike project and he went and grabbed me some for free out of the back. He started asking about my project which I told him was an electric bicycle build. He then took me in the back and showed me his custom electric bike project which goes about 60mph!!! Highly recommend this shop!! Will be returning!!

I needed a very specific bike. Was not in stock. "Itll arrive next week" they said. Turns out they didnt know when it would arrive and I needed this bike within a time frame. 2 weeks went by. TWO WHOLE WEEKS OF SUMMER waiting for a bike. Sigh... They needed me to wait so I could purchase from them. No bike. Went elsewhere. Could have been straight up, said we just dont know. Hell, I would have been ok with we dont know, simply cant tell. So, if you can wait, get it here. If not, demand a time frame. At least youll know when youll be disappointed.

Al is the man you want working on your bike; has been riding on and perfecting bikes longer than most techs have been ALIVE. The man is pure genius as well as being honest... very rare trait these days. Hes the ONLY one who touches my bikes and I just pray he doesnt retire any time before the rapture or Ill be lost lol.

Classic Cycle recently built me a custom electric bike. They did a great job of showing how it all worked. When I wanted accessories added, they even ordered items they dont carry in the store so I could have the bike exactly as I wanted. They really came through for me and this bike is great for the hills.
