I purchased a road bike from Old Town Bicycle in Olympia several months ago after checking out most of the bike shops in the area. Old Town Bike and one other shop in the area were the only shops I would consider giving my money to. Unlike the other shops, at old town bike, I wasnt ignored, dismissed, or scoffed at because i wanted a "cheaper" bike thats actually within my budget. I looked at 10+ bikes at different stores, and finally test rode one here and loved it. The salesman offered to bring in other bikes just to make sure I was happy, but i knew this was my bike! Purchasing the new bike was hassle free, enjoyable, and I learned a lot just in the first visit. What keeps me coming back again and again is the staff. Ive considered several unneeded purchases due to my inexperience. Instead of happily making a buck, the shop clearly strives for satisfaction unlike a vast majority of shops(bike related or not) that ive been to. Also, when considering a purchase that I actually need, like going to clipless pedals, the knowledge, experience, and advice clearly show that each member of the staff not only loves this sport/hobby, but they make it their mission to ensure that anyone interested gets the most pleasure as possible while riding. Well guys, mission accomplished! keep up the GREAT work! All in all, because of the dedication to the customer, wonderful staff, and great products, Old Town Bike has made me a loyal customer. I havent spent a dime at other shops since buying my bike, and I cant help but enjoy spending my money here, yet ironically, they also have saved me a lot of money!

Im a year-round daily commuter and have been a customer at Old Town for about four years. The crew has exceeded my expectations again and again. Notable, exceptional, over the top examples include last minute, after hours repair prior to an unsupported century and today with some clutch chain assistance. They do a superb job quickly repairing commuter bikes. They have an excellent selection of new bikes, especially Specialized. The last two bikes I purchased have been from the shop (Ruby and Hot Rocks). All the gear is reasonably priced and is frequently road tested by the mechanics and sales staff. As a frequent customer purchasing everything from accessories, special order wheels, to full bikes Ive had the opportunity to interact with everyone. Drew, Patrick, and Hart have exceptional knowledge depth including bike fitting. The mechanics, especially Pete, possess a rare prowess. Pete has not only taught me a lot but once noticed a subtle fracture in my crankset, that if left unchecked would certainly have been disasterous. You may be able to save pennies by ordering on-line, but the Old Town service, insight, and expertise far outweighs on-line purchasing. Over the years, due to perceived convenience I have made minor purchases at other shops only to be uniformly disappointed by shoddy and even incorrect parts. Parking is suboptimal, but you probably shouldnt be driving a car anyway. Custom orders typically come in only once a week, which is a minor inconvenience; however, if you are looking for a shop to establish a long-term relationship with, this is it. No doubt.

We had heard good things about this store from our neighbors but when we went there, we were not impressed. The girl that was helping us was condescending and rude. She also had her own agenda of trying to up-sell us from a rear child seat to a trailer after I told her multiple times that we didnt have the space to store a trailer and we didnt want to spend that much. She went on to say "but they are so much safer" to which I responded that I had a friend who had a trailer and was riding on a gravel trail and the trailer actually caused him to flip his bike when he hit a rough washboard spot on the trail and then his little boy was terrified to ride for months after that. She said "well he probably bought a cheap knockoff or something because they are designed to not do that so you should probably not run around telling your friends that his trailer flipped". So I thought that was extremely rude. When she FINALLY gave up on trying to get us to buy a trailer, she said that they dont carry the child seats in the store and that if we wanted to order one, it would be 7-10 days........and at the end of our visit she said, "well let us know if you want to order one, and by the way, you will have to pay for it before we can order." REALLY?! I thought I could get it for free......a-hole! I am all about supporting small local business over big companies like REI when I can but I will NEVER go back to that store.

Silly me...I thought Id go in on the cheep and get the tune er up and new chain but unfortunately had a bad run in with CHAIN SLIP on the powerstroke after that...Need to replace entire drive train to dial in properly. Would have been nice if they could have recommended a less frustrating tune up but my fault for wanting to get by with just replacing chain; so far 300 bucks into it with another 440 to go to upgrade DriveT; DOH. Bike is a Raleigh Phase II 05 all mountain sram set up. Nice Santa Cruz on the rack but sub par deore crankset-ahem. Sorry guys only 3 stars from me.

This place was great. They were not over bearing, but welcoming and friendly. Very helpful and knowledgeable. We walked in with two stroller wheels. They charged no labor for putting the tubes on, chatted with us and we payed for the tubes alone. They also got out a couple of bikes for my husband to look at and again showed their personal expertise and knowledge. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a great bike shop in the area with EXCELLENT service.

I went to Old Town Bicycle after calling first. On the phone they were enthusiastic and welcoming. I walked my bike in the front door and noticed that someone rushed to help hold the door open. He asked me how he could help, and when I told him what the problem was, he had it fixed in 30 seconds with no charge! He was courteous and explained what to do if it happens again. I would always, always recommend these people. They made a sunny day brighter!

Got a flat on the way in to work - had to carry the bike 2 miles into downtown only to find they werent open for another 30 minutes! Lucky for me, a nice employee let me in early and took care of everything before I had to leave work that day. Never tried to upsell me, just did the work asked and at a very very affordable rate. I ended up referring a friend who was having trouble getting smaller work done on his bike at other shops.

I have bought two bikes, multiple accessories, a couple of service requests there. This is a great shop and I will continue to go there. This is from someone that shops outside of Olympia most of the time because of poor customer service from other local businesses. I only have one issue, there is one employee who likes to lecture instead of listening to the customer. All the other staff members are great.
