I really am disappointed at Petco Corp, not necessarily at this location. The ONLY reason I am giving a 5 star is because of their Dog Trainer Alan. He is a very knowledgeable, professional, Honest employee. He truly cares for his dogs that he trains, its a shame hes not appreciated as he should be especially from his manager Chris who, I and some fellow pet parents spoke to today, he seems like he didnt care and I understand hes doing his job but I truly hope he treats his employees much better. Well the reason why I am disappointed at Petco is because they have implemented some new policies that are not working. I took my puppy to puppy play today like I normally do every Saturday at 12pm and was told that since he is no longer under 6 months I can no longer take him (by the way he is 7 months today) to a place where he can socialize with other dogs. The changes that have been made by Corp are again NOT working, Customers have decreased to puppy play since this new policy has been enforced, there pointless and Unavailing. Again nothing bad to say about this location but I truly hope that Petco Corp sees this and understands our distress, I say OUR because ive spoken to other pets parents that used to come and still do and we are not happy. I will still continue to come here since my puppy does his training here with Alan, but know that I am not happy about this.......

For the most part the people working there are pretty helpful when you ask for help. The problem is they are extremely short handed sometimes that people are left waiting for service (either at the fish, reptiles, etc.) Management can definitely fix that by adding one or two more during those busy hours (usually in the afternoons.) Fish are average, but once in a while youll find some beautiful fish (I found a beautiful male pineapple sword tail and lyre tail guppy.) Plants are so,so but once in a while youll find some nice plants (just saw some Ludwigia today that had some very nice colors) but they could take better care of them to make them last longer. For the most part it is average. Ive never really had a problem with their equipment, only once when there versa glass canopies didnt come with handles, but they took it back with no problems. I also got some discounts on plants because they didnt look too well, but now they are growing very nicely in my tank. Even the fish lady threw some extra fish (neon tetras tend to go into shock). Overall though it is pretty average in terms of prices and quality.

I cant shop here anymore their is a cashier that thinks a Betta needs a 3 gallon tank to its self with filtration and flat out lied when questioned about the bettas that they are selling who currently live in tiny plastic containers, saying they change the water daily and that makes it ok. She also had nothing to say when questioned about the Betts bowls that they sell that are much smaller than her ideas about their needs. While I agree bettas should have more room and filtration is always best. She goes on to tell me I shouldnt have more than 7 fish in my ten gallon tank and starts to grill me on how often I check my water stats. This is the same store that tried to sell me the wrong meds for my sick fish, that I bought from them. I have owned breed and sold fish off and on for years. Petco please for the love of god educate your employees or tell them to keep their mouths shut if they have no experience or firsthand knowledge. Just because they read it online does not make it true!

I called multiple times for the grooming department and the first time i called someone picked upbthe phone but they were just talking to thier friends and joking when i kept saying "Hello , HELLO over and over again." theb called again and someone hung up and finally i called THE THIRD TIME and someone picked up but just sounded Annoyed (there is no customer friendlyness or customer communicating skills at all) I use to shop here daily but after this IM NEVER SHOPPING HERE AGAIN.

DO NOT take your dog here to get groomed, I decided to ignore the negative reviews and try and book an appointment and as I called I heard a lady yelling at a dog and it screaming and crying and I asked the lady what was going on and she was like" oh that dogs just a little dramatic" as loving pet owner I would not want my dog terrified

Not going back Carina wouldnt let us see the animals AN HOUR BEFORE THE CLOSE because a cleaning crew was coming in... Hello customers come first? As we discussed whats wrong with the picture, she flicked me off. I loved Petco but this kind of attitude she brought upon me makes me no longer want to go to the store.

Always a waiting line at the ONLY ONE open register. It does not matter if there is a long line of 6 or 7 people they would not open the 2nd register. AND Even tough I tell myself this is the last time I visit this Montclair Petco store I end up coming back to get my four legged Buddies their 11+ Senior food.

I refuse to bring my dog here to get groomed. I heard a dog crying and then heard the grooming employee yell at the dog to shut up. I only shop here for last minute stuff I might need. If the employees actually had smiles and helped the customers with their needs maybe more people would shop here.

My little sister took her dog there to get a hair cut. An hour later they call her to pick him up at the vet because he hurt his paw. Really!!!??? We will never take him there again they were not responsible. She took him for a hair cut they ended up picking him up from the vet!!!

The cashier was not pleasant whatsoever, and did not offer us a bag when we had multiple small items. We walked out fumbling our items, as we had our dog with us as well. Ill only come back here if I am on this side of town, but I definitely wont go out of my way.

This is my go to Petco and Ive never had any complaints. I only go there to buy cat food and litter so I dont have much to go off of. Its always clean, theres always someone on the register. Sign up for their Pal Rewards to get discounts and 5% back

My 5 month old Doberman always gets excited when we take him to this Petco. The staff has always been helpful and friendly to us. Weve been going since 2014 and havent had any problems. I recommend this Petco more than any other!

Best place for animals and animals products. Best grooming salon EVER!!! Been to many grooming salons, Petco has the best groomer. I think her name was Liz. Highly recommend to take your dog to get its haircut there

My go-to pet store. Friendly staff, well stocked shelves, and rarely a line. Petcos rewards program is good too. Easy to earn rewards on everyday items and easy to access coupons via email. Highly recommended

Its ok, the only downfall is how understaffed they are. They literally have 1 person working the register and the front half of the store and 1 person working the back half.
