Went here over a month ago to get a new set of handlebars/grips, a rear wheel truing, and a rear brake installation. Service was fast and everything seemed to be in good order when I left. HOWEVER, after riding my bike for a few miles, the rear wheel suddenly went loose. Turns out, the axle lugs were barely even tightened! Since it was a quick fix, I addressed the issue myself. Unsettling that this was a day after picking it up, but I assumed it was a one-off thing. It wasnt. I realized that 1) The grips were installed backwards 2) The handlebars were installed unevenly and 3) The used brake calipers I received were not the correct size for my bike and barely cleared the sidewalls. Im kicking myself in the head because I hadnt realized all of these issues until just after the 30-day warranty. What a waste of money. Dont make the costly mistake I made: Dont trust the employees recommendations for used gear and triple check everything before you leave! I am NEVER coming back here to support such shoddy work. I understand that this is a largely volunteer-basef service but seriously? Going to a professional bike shop to fix any other issues that I may have missed. Hopefully it wont cost me another $200.

Whats the value of going the extra mile? When I take my bike to CCC on Alberta, the customer service has varied from competent and efficient, to condescending. Ive never received my bike back from their shop without one new problem popping up, that wasnt there before, for every two that they fix. For instance, if my chain gets replaced, the wheel comes back untrue. Its hard to get same day service; usually they require an evaluation appointment, and a separate appointment to leave your bike to be fixed (most usually over a day or two.) Also, unlike other bike shops, they do not take the time to lube, pump or clean... Any of the extra details that make your bike seemingly ride like new when you get it back. On one hand, they are certainly competent and professional. On the other hand, they dont seem to have the motivation to go that extra step that would ensure me as a loyal customer. If I have an emergency repair in the neighborhood, Id trust them. But if my bike can ride, Ill take it somewhere else.

I feel lucky to have met Gram, one of the repairmen, at the Center. My wife and I have an unusual classic touring tandem that needed replacement of some components and installation of an Arai drum brake. I have collected unusual bikes for years and was impressed by Gram’s knowledge and his willingness to ask others if he did not know the answer. Hes patient and personable too. The combined experience of the staff is impressive and I know that some of the brain-storming necessary to solve problems with this 35 year old tandem, was a collaboration of these technicians. The work was first rate and a throughly enjoyable experience when visiting the shop. I live in the SE and Im willing to drive to Alberta street in order to have repairs made. I pass about 10 shops between here and there, but the service at the Community Cycling Center is worth it.

They have lots of random used parts for good prices, but this place is the epitome of the "elitist bike hipster" bike shop in my opinion. Before I bought a bike elsewhere, I stopped by here a few times. No one has ever approached me asking if I needed help/ had questions. You have to wait in line at the counter (and wait for the employees to finish their up their conversation on the new insert-some-stupid-band-youve-never-heard-of) to look at a bike. On one occasion I went in for a small replacement part.. eventually found it by myself.. and when I finally got someone to aknowledge my existance, they told me the part was priced wrong (by them) and tried to make me pay twice as much.

This organization is not trying to be the jaguar dealer of bikes and service, nor does it sock your wallet like one. Having said that, for the most part their people are courteous and helpful, conscious of the customers budget, and professional in their knowledge, service and advice. I would recommend them to anyone who needs what they offer and appreciates their not adding on services we can do just to inflate their revenue. I would add that in the big picture, they provide this community service to an incredible number of bikers from casual to serious in a typical weeks time. Thanks!

The Community Cycling Center is my go to LBS. They offer a great selection of gently used bikes and parts with a great staff of people who can do anything you need. The Community Cycling Center is a great shop that wont give you a heart attack from sticker shock and wont make you feel uncomfortable if youre less than knowledgeable about the difference between a brazeon and a bottom bracket. Whether you already love bicycling or are looking to get into it, the Community Cycling Center is the best example of an LBS doing everything right. I highly recommend them.

After not riding for 30 years, I just bought a used bike and decided what I wanted to change - tires, fenders etc. Took it to Community Cycling Center and talked to "David". VERY helpful! He actually talked me out of new fenders and tires saying what I had was fine. He answered all my questions, gave sound riding safety advice, and went out of his way to show me how to install the red rear light on my Ecorack. I was so impressed! Of the items I purchased, I brought a few back as they didnt work out for me and they took them without hassle. Great shop!

Great service. I took my bike in on a Sunday I needed a new tube tires and tune up badly. I was told it would take about 2 weeks as it needed extensive work. (my fault) I asked if they could replace the tires and tube and make me an appt so I could at least keep riding. They said they would. I left my there for the immediate work. They called me later the same day and ALL of the work was done. the best part is IT WAS HALF THE ESTIMATE. I just rode it for the first time since the work and it feels like I have a new bike. Thank you

I had been recommended by a co-worker and read great reviews about this place, but had a poor experience myself. I was looking to buy a new or used bike, but couldnt get any associates to help me. I waited at the sales counter for over 15 minutes and didnt even get so much as a "be right with you" from any of the 5 or 6 employees in there. It sounds like theyve got some good programs, and affordable repair services, but the overall customer care was terrible. If you need help picking out a bike, go somewhere else.

No one seemed interested in helping me. The staff was somewhat stand offish and were not particularly helpful. I needed a bike part fixed, they gave me an estimate then said it would be two weeks before they would have time to do the repair. I just bought the part and got another shop to do it that day. Additionally, the way they sell used bikes with the price of how much it costs to fix it seems odd. I witnessed a dad trying to buy a kids bike and wanted to tell him he could get a new one for the same price.
