Looking at a motorcycle here for $14,200. Blue 2014 HD FLHTK. No up-keep information on the motorcycle. Talked with HD and gave them the VIN number. Was able to tell that scheduled maintenance was done. I went to test drive the bike and the battery was dead. It took them a long time to find where the battery was and I could not wait. ( I was ready to buy) made statements like.why dont you leave a deposit and when we get it.charged we will call you. This is not a smart move as leaving a check brings me into a contract with them. Today after arranging a test drive with my sales person I arrive and a greeted by prearranged different sales.person that tells.me I can not test drive it due to their insurance not covering the bike. We try and work out an amicable way for me to get the bike that would satisfy all of us. The sales person in this case was rude and a hard ass. I work.im the medical profession and if I treated my Patient like I was treated I would not have a job. I left and then called the general manager.I told him I was not pleased with how rude the sales.person was and that the push back from that individual was not.warrented. The GM told me he would work with me and my original sales person (Jim... Who is great and was off Today). I text Jim with a update and presented requests that the GM told me he would do as well as providing them language that would benefit and protect them. I asked. This to be included in the contract. Text back states they are no longer going to sell the bike and are going to take it off the market. Reading between the lines here... I did my homework, did not. Impulse buy, tried to do a test.drive and could not due to a bad battery and then due to the staff and sales not knowing that people could not test drive a motorcycle that was sold there. In all of this exchange I have not received an apology. The trust.level from this company is.low as no one will a d should buy any vehicle before driving it. Jim did a good job but I have to say that the other sales person did not come across as a honest sales person and uses intimidation tactics. The GM I had limited interaction with and was hoping he was trust worthy yet it seems that this is not the case. UP DATE: I asked to meet with the GM, owner and sales person to work out differences. No call back. I was willing to work out this. The issue at hand is this company would not let me test drive the motorcycle. I would have to " buy it" and then decide if I did not like it. They were not willing to put that in writing. Sure I would have loved to take the motorcycle to get it checked out yet yet that is only a small part of the issues at hand. Had the motorcycle been ready to go the first time I went there and had they had the forsight to make sure it actually started I would have bought it. ( this was prior to their staff not knowing they were not allowed to let people test drive it.) I want to make sure I can handle any motorcycle.. I rode a goldwing prior to this so I was and am not all that worried about riding this.

So little over a month has passed and my new truck hasn’t thrown a rod or the transfer case hasn’t fallen out out while driving down the road. All in all I am very happy with my “new to me” truck. The time spent with the actual salesman was very relaxed. It almost seemed as if it was not his job to sell but went ahead with it since no-one else was around. When we drove the truck I noticed a few things not working properly but I was ok with this, it had a lot of ‘extras’ that I liked. I also knew I could fix the issues. The whole deal seem to be on the “up-and-up” until I we came back a second time to look at it and noticed a few items had been removed. Luckily we had taken pictures and ‘proved’ that that was the case. They also seemed a bit confused when it came to the price. There was one on their website and another on a Craigslist ad, a $2000.00 discrepancy. Of course we got the lower. They did make good on replacing the missing items on the truck but I did have to pay for half since the replacements were going to be new. A little cheesy if you ask me but I did agree...so who really is the fool. Then I asked about how they came to get the truck. I was told that it was a trade in for a larger truck and was a one owner. But when they showed me the Carfax they had an Autocheck instead. In the Autocheck report it clearly said this truck was purchased at an auction and had a history of two owners. Again I was willing to look past this. I chalked it up to them dealing with so many vehicles it is hard to keep them straight or that they will say anything to sell the truck. Probably the later. I have to say I am very happy with my purchase, as for dealing with a small dealer like this again…..probably not.

Marketplace Auto has great curb appeal and friendly sales people and a NICE selection of trucks. They are not unlike so many other car dealers whose public surveys place them among the lesser trusted professions in our country. Never the less, the saying is: "Caveat Emptor".,( Let the buyer beware). We all owe it to ourselves to practice due diligence and research our purchases BEFORE buying. I NEGLECTED TO DO SO. This occurred in late May 2015. Immediately after the sale, I went to the Marketplace Auto website where I found MY truck offered for approximately $1000 less. A few hours later, it was priced higher than what I paid by a nearly equal amount...even though it had been sold. I retain photos in the event someone wishes to challenge this contention. I have no plans to pursue this further. I didnt do my homework. That IS the law in most states. Two and a half months later in speaking with my Credit Union, I learned that they had not received an application from Marketplace Auto for credit at all, despite the fact that I asked them to check with my CU first. They(Marketplace) told me that the application had been refused. Odd..that the credit union didnt send me the REQUIRED rejection notice. It might mislead someone into thinking that the dealer steered me into a higher interest rate (by quite a lot) offered by a different CU. During the sale, they stressed their careful attention to checking out the vehicles they buy. On my drive home, a grinding sound started every time I pressed the brake pedal. A certified mechanic had to bend a metal tab away from brake contact and nothing else was required. So much for "careful inspections" in my case. Nice folks though.

The worst experience at a used car lot Ive ever had the displeasure of dealing with. My boyfriend and I looked at a vehicle there. He is military and has had some credit challenges from deployment. First, they said on the Sat. while we were there buying the car, there were a couple banks that were options but had to wait till Monday as they were closed. Second, they wouldnt guarantee they would hold the car...basically first come fist serve. Which is the issue with these small mom and pop dealers whom are so desperate they NEED to sell a 6 thousand dollar car so bad they will screw you right out of the car to the next buyer. So a week goes by and they kept giving him the run around about how the bank was dragging their feet and so forth on if he was approved. He would call and they would say they would call him back and then not call. Its not that hard to tell someone you just cant do the deal, its called COMMUNICATION!!..Something didnt seem right from the get go here. will never recommend anyone buy a car here. terrible experience, rude, unprofessional and no compassion for people. We just went and bought a car elsewhere because we were so fed up with their game playing. Didnt even care to call them after a week gone by and they acted like we fell off the face of the earth....so we are like good riddance.
