Everyones raves about McLendons are completely justified. Great inventory, great local history, great fun to shop there. I love John Ns review--agree with everything he said. Ill just add my personal reason to the list-- Im a small middle-aged woman, which means that when I walk thru the doors into one of the big box stores, I get coated with the "Totally Ignore Me!" spray rendering me utterly invisible to the young and technically clueless sales staff they so love to hire. (I say technically clueless because when I go with my husband, a construction company owner, I get to hear his frustration with their inability to find, much less explain, their own merchandise). Not so at McLendons. Experienced people not only know what theyre talking about, but they also act like they care a whole lot whether or not you leave happy and come back. And if I go in alone? I get greeted (repeatedly), I get asked how I can be helped (any time I encounter an employee) and Im always given patient, informed advice. (The interesting thing, though, is that being ignored is elevated to an art form at Dunns, where even if Im with my husband we both get ignored even when were the only customers around. Whatever). McLendons has a long history in this community and they have a stake in its well-being. Why on earth would you go someplace else?

I bought a red lion gas engine and pump. Took it back to return or exchange. What happen with the engine was the pull start broke and spark plug went bad. The plumbing guy was being rude and told me talk with the manager. I talked to manager she was like I cant return or exchange you over heated the engine and misused it. The manager was so rude told me to take it to Renton where I purchased it from. She said go fight with them. First she wasted my gas driving all the way down to renton. She called and told the renton manager that we misused so he said you went to kent store and they turned you down. I cant help bye bye. I shop at McLendons every week always buying tool from them. Now I am so bad I will not go back to them. Better off shopping at Home Depot Dont buy that Red Lion Gas Engine Pump.

Very disappointing. They do not have enough knowledgeable employees. If you call, you will be put on hold for 5+ minutes, which tells you their employees are inefficient at their jobs. If they knew their jobs, they would be lickety-split in their assistance. When you finally do get someone in the correct department you asked for thrice, you will be met with "I dont know, let me go check" more than once.

Great local hardware store! They always have professional authorities on hand to guide us through my project! Good quality of products, and wide variety of products.... and they sale loose hardware so I dont have to buy a whole box of screws when I only need one or two! They are top notch in my book!

Any time I need hardware items I come here. The employees are much more helpful and knowledgeable than any Home Depot or Lowes employee Ive met and the selection of products for the size of the store is considerably more than an Ace and the prices are good too.

The guest service was unprofessional it was a waste of my time going there and on top of that when I call to return some items a lady was being rude about it and the likelihood of me returning to the store is very low they need to work on their professionalism.

Hardware selection is top notch, I come here often for metric fasteners - i think only Ace Hardware has a comparable hardware selection. Prices could be better on a lot of the tools but the availability of hard to find items makes up for that in my book

Unlike some hardware stores that have more orange in their logo, the folks at McLendons know their stuff, are friendly, and dont run away when you ask them a question. Sure, you may pay a few bucks more than at the national chain, but it is so worth it.

Went to home depot to get some plywood cut, but after waiting for 45 minutes for someone to help me they told me they couldnt cut it to the dimensions I wanted. So I went to McLendon and waited only 15 minutes and told me it was no problem.
