I cant believe the positive reviews QHE has gotten here! The only thing these reviewers got right is that QHE has a large and decent selection of goods. Other than that, the place is a flat out dump! The pour containers that store the beans, rice, nuts, etc. are filthy and look like they havent been cleaned in years. The fruit section has fruit flies flying around and the fruit itself looks on the verge of rotting (as does their greens and vegetables). Their "vegetarian cafe" is the size of my bathroom and the food on their steam tables looks like slop. There are 2 floors, however the 2nd floor is about 20 feet by 10 feet. It looks as if they wanted to expand their store, so they used air space and created a rickety upper level. Beware if you are 58" or taller, youll have to stoop down to browse up there. And the Asian staff... they act more like robots: no greeting, no friendliness, no personality and no emotion whatsoever. (except for a black male stock worker who was very gracious and friendly). I went to this store based on the positive reviews here. But I wont be back. Ill stick with Whole Foods, where the cost is the same (if not cheaper than QHP). At least WFs stores are clean; their prepared food, fruit and vegetables are absolutely gorgeous; and I dont have to worry about falling through a rickety makeshift 2nd floor.

All organic produce is a great start. Exotic tropical organic fruit appears in season too. The selection of all items is considerable. Some examples, a wall full of just seaweeds, a whole shelf of just liquid vitamins. Lots of selections in frozen vegetables, berries and exotic ice creams. Lots of dried organic grain too. Fancy organic treats like Austrian pumpkin seeds or specialty chocolates. Supplements are well stocked too, but it is not a discount place. A Chinese style vegetarian kitchen to take out or eat in. The food sells fast. A juice bar with treats like watermelon juice and the obligatory green grass juice, etc. Leaf teas or in bags are located in a two sided long dedicated shelf. Similar variety for natural cleaning products. Also, for the supplements, advice from Maria is solid and never pushy or trying to steer you to the most expensive items either. Lots of health reference books to use or buy too. For the meat eater, their "Natural Meats" sister store a few doors down has fresh wild fish which I enjoyed. Also organic chicken and other meats. A larger store with more room and more parking would be the logical next step for the store if I had something to criticize.

This place is a great store for healthy foods and supplements. the price is a bit higher than Wholefoods, however, I will pay few cents more instead of driving 20 miles more for grocery shopping, and they have some more selections that Wholefoods doesnt carry also. This is one of the reasons to go to this shop for me. This store always has sales on some vegetables and fruits, and they are very reasonable priced as organic when they are on sale. Moreover, the recently opened a sister shop for organic meats. so, now CONS: 1. Their nuts quality is not that great. Wholefoods are much much better. I really dont like their nuts. 2. Short of grains. 3. hard parking. 4. Store is not that clean. and upstair.... the ceiling is too low. 5. as I mentioned, a bit expensive. even though.. it a blessing to have this kind store near by. :)

My wife and I found QHE through a referral from a family friend about seven months ago. Since then, we have been going there about once a week to do our grocery shopping. We appreciate the large selection and really really reasonable prices. The entire store is organic so I dont have to worry about mixed products. The store also has a yummy vegetarian cafe that keeps us healthy and full. There is parking in the back but you may have to park a block or two away during some peak hours (ask the cashier to allow you to take the shopping cart to your car). In short, if youre looking for a friendly organic and green grocery that offers just as much products as your chain megastore without the attitude and high prices, this is the store for you.

Best in Queens and a nice alternative to Trader Joes when they are too crowded, which is almost always. This is a family run business with the meat shop next door. During the holidays they were a staple for our family. We actually over heard one of the owners at the meat shop volunteer to personally home deliver a product that was due to arrive later-it was Christmas week mind you. The same owner took the time to follow up with a phone call on our Christmas ham. We had just had a baby so this type of follow up was appreciated! I like the grain selection at the HE which allows you to buy how much you need. Good way to try out new grains. I cant say enough except I hope they open more stores-maybe Florida you guys? :)

I have been shopping here for 30 years! Its my home away from home. Superb selection, awesome kitchen and juice bar, great pricing, wonderful, helpful, friendly staff. Whats not to love? The organic veggies and fruits ARE THE BEST ANYWHERE, fresh and well priced. I dont understand the negative reviews at all. They are ALL totally wrong. Maybe theyre used to Whole Foods Rip Off stores that gouge your wallet and serve you toxic food dripping with all sorts of sugars and unhealthy canola oil. Hey, if thats what you want, youre in the wrong place!!!!!

They have a great selection of products, and almost all are organic, unlike Whole Foods and Fairway. Their prices are good for organic foods. There are always employees around to help find a product or answer a question. The vitamins/supplements department is extensive as well, and the staff there truly knows about most of the products and their pluses and minuses. I enjoy shopping there, because the range of products is extensive, and it is not spread over a giant space such as competitors like Fairway.

GREAT HEALTH FOOD / PRODUCTS STORE! Nice selection of items for the people with allergies and other health concerns or the just plain health conscious...Helpful and knowledgeable friendly staff PLUS a new( several years now) organic meats store/deli/mini restaurant HOWEVER even in paradise there might be a few snags-parking...Unless I get there early- choice spots in the small parking lot..Avoid the trauma and park elsewhere and get exercise by walking back to your car!

They have great organic/natural products there. I have been going there for more than 10 years now. Many cancer patients go there for the fresh made wheatgrass/fruit/vegetable juice. They also have great staff onsite that can recommend supplements for any person with any specific need. Considering its NYC and theyre next to the highway, I think its amazing they are able to keep a small parking lot in the back. Unfortunately, it only fits like 5 cars.

This is one of the best health food stores in New York. Organic fruits at the cheapest prices Ive seen. The fruits can be rather expensive in my opinion but always good quality and good flavor. Some of the products in the back of the store can be a little pricey also but reasonably priced vs whole foods. They also have a deli that makes the best vegan food Ive had. Its worth it to just go and get a hot plate alone. Support small businesses!
