Granted, car salesmen are not known for the soft sell...but it really shouldn’t be as unpleasant as the bad customer service and coercive sales techniques I encountered at Volvo of Tacoma at Fife. After test driving the 2016 Volvo XC90 in Seattle and loving it, I called them because they had my first choice color combination in stock and I was ready to buy. My sales agent Jim’s folksy schtick quickly became tiresome as it was soon clear that there was nothing friendly or welcoming about this place. They wouldn’t budge on the price…which I expected as all the dealers I had approached were selling this very popular car at list price only. So they were poised to make a hefty commission on a simple sale. However, Jim also insisted that his manager would only sell the car with expensive dealer add-ons like LoJack and paint protection which added up to more than a couple thousand dollars. I said no I wasn’t interested in the add-ons. And he kept saying all the dealers were doing this and he would have to ask his manager. A few rounds of this cat and mouse nonsense and waiting hours for him to call me back just to say they weren’t making any concessions and I was done. What a waste of time. I then called Bob Byers in Seattle and within thirty minutes had put a deposit down on my new Volvo XC90…equally beautiful color combination in the end and NO pressure for me to take the dealer add-ons they offered. Must have been one of the easier sales they have ever had and I have been thrilled with my car and continued great service from Bob Byers Volvo. What a contrast from Volvo of Tacoma which I would avoid at all costs!

If youre looking for an honest mechanic, look elsewhere. If you need service on your Volvo, Id only take it here if its warranty work. And even then, only if its your last option. I took my S60 in to have it looked at. I told the guy what I thought was wrong with it and he said hed have his guys look at it and give me a call. When he did, he gave me a quote of $4600 for the repairs. This included about $3800 for replacing both front wheel bearings, both axles and a warped rotor. However, they assumed I knew little about cars. Turns out, I had recently replaced the wheel bearings myself and the only thing wrong with them was the bolts were loose. The rotor certainly wasnt warped and the CV boot on the axle had popped but both axles were fine. I went home and tore the stuff apart myself to be sure. I took it to a local shop to have the CV boot replace (bought the boot myself for 28$) and saved literally, thousands of dollars in unnecessary repairs.

Worst car buying experience ever! The salesmen that were available when we arrived didnt know anything about Volvos- only Lexus. By the time the actual Volvo dealer came, I knew what I wanted and he kept offering me these hideous color combinations that I had told him I didnt want. It took hours of him fumbling through binder and listing color names and packages that I didnt recognize. By the time he finally told me that the options I wanted didnt come in the colors I wanted, I switched to an older model with more features than what I needed. But, they were unwilling to work with me. They would not flex on price for car that was almost a year into its warranty. There are offers that they show on their website. Thats exactly what they offered from the beginning and where they stood. So, you can figure out exactly what you will be asked to pay just by going online and finding the MSRP minus whatever offers they have for your model.

DISAPPOINTED! My daughter & I were traveling from Spokane to Silverdale in my daughters Volvo. The car broke down in Tacoma & we had it towed to the Volvo dealer in Tacoma. The next morning we called and they said they would check- out the problem and call us within the hour. No call, after calling numerous times and being transferred to the service department, no answer. My son-in-law had to travel from Silverdale to Tacoma (1 hour) on Saturday just for them to tell us they could not figure it out until Monday, when they had better techs. Fast forward to Monday when we are trying to get home, they finally call to tell us she needs a new transmission at a cost of $6800. We had the car towed back to Spokane with no help from Volvo and being out the $150 fee just to look at it. Fast forward to Spokane to the Volvo Mechanic she bought the car from and her transmission is fine, a simple cv joint problem. Females beware!

I brought my XC-60 to have my windshield re-sealed and unsatisfied with the results. My hood was chipped, excess adhesive visible on both corners of dashboard, interior lining stained with finger marks from the adhesive, molding was not properly installed, interior was left dirty, etc. I complained to my service rep and he said to bring the car in that same week so he can take a look at my complaints. I explained to him that I will be on a business trip and will call once I get back to set up an appointment. After coming back, I called and left a message to make an appointment. Its been weeks and no call back. You would figure that Volvo which has the owner and in the same complex of Lexus, Jaguar and Land Rover would take more pride in their service. I would avoid doing business here!

I brought my 05 Volvo XC90 in for services because my key would no longer start the car. My fob to the car worked but the car no longer recognized the key itself. I was told it needed was an ignition ring and key reprogramming. I brought my car in on a Thursday and go it back late the following Monday. Tuesday I realized my fob no longer worked and called in to get it taken care of. They said they were busy and couldnt take a look till Friday (today). Now Im being told the fob has to be replaced after one of their workers stripped the screw and it will cost me $350 for a new unit. Why am I supposed to pay when it their fault the unit is no longer working? The unit itself was fully working when we brought it in, the problem we had was with the key. I feel cheated and frustrated.

They priced a car $6000 over blue book value and were firm on the price. Also noticed that some one wrote a bad review for their shop, for all Volvo repairs I always go to Art Works Volvo independent Volvo specialist, they have been the most honest mechanics Ive ever dealt with. Also they will inspect any Volvo that your interested in buying for 100$ bottom line though volvo of Tacoma is the WORST. Another time i called in about a listing and the guy on the phone kept saying calm down its ok when do you want to come in and see the car. I kept telling him i dont have a car so i dont want to come in until the day i buy, and he just kept saying its ok calm down so when do want to come in? NO ONE SHOULD WORK WITH THESE SCUM BAGS
