I was a Les Schwab customer from 1990-1993, and during that time, I had nothing but problems with them. Lying that the tires I bought somewhere else were bad (they were new, I watched the new stickers being taken off), CONSTANTLY trying to get me to buy more expensive tires, a few times refusing to sell me used tires and only wanting to sell new, and once I took my old beater pickup in to have two tires rotated (they were on opposite axles), and the guy LAUGHED at my truck. It was primed and ugly, but it was all I had. The guy kept laughing under his breath. After 3 years of putting up with their $hit, I started looking at new places to go. Eventually I called Americas Tire Company. My expectations were low. Not only did they beat every other price I could find, I was even told I could bring in magazine ads (this was in 1993) and they would match it. I have only been dealing with Americas Tire Company (Discount Tire in some states) since 1993. In all those years, I have only had ONE bad experience. At the Beaverton store years ago, I tried to get a better deal and the employee said he took off some fee, I forget what. After I looked at my receipt, he didnt take it off, and he basically wouldnt make me a deal. I never went back to that store. The two best experiences I had was around 1998 when I was buying new wheels and tires on lay away at the Salem store. I had it paid down pretty well, and the store manager told me if I could get the rest paid off that week, he would knock a few hundred off because they wanted to make their monthly sales quota. I forget the exact amount, but it was definitely a few hundred. 4 years ago, I bought my Toyota 4runner and was looking for some new tires. After hours of looking at different brands, tread patterns, and sizes, I found what I wanted. I ordered them, and after installation the total was just over $1100. Shortly after this, I wanted to test their price matching again, so I went to tirerack and priced the same tires with shipping, and it came to approximately $100 less. I printed that out, went back to the same location, and an employee not only price matched, he even gave me a little extra back. I cant recall what the end cost was, but he definitely gave me a nice discount. I have no doubt other people have had their problems here, but I can say without a doubt, in the last 22 years, I have only had a problem one time at the Beaverton location. Les Schwab lost my business in 1993, and I will never return. I hate their lies, sales tactics, and ALWAYS trying to sell new tires. If I want new tires, I will ask, otherwise, leave me alone. Another aspect that others have mentioned is no pressure. Nobody has ever pressured me into more expensive tires, wheels, siping, or anything else. If I say no, thats it. Discount Tire has treated me significantly better and thats why they get my business.

I had bought my tires from Costco and had a flat so brought it to these guys to fix. I usually go to Big-O-Tires but this one was close by so I stopped in. The clerk at the counter said the service is FREE...wow I thought this is an awesome deal because I usually would pay $15 for it. However he told me the wait was 2 to 3 hours long...now keep in mind this usually takes 10 minutes and at most 20 minutes at my other place. Being in a hurry I said I cant wait that long and the clerk told me to leave the tire come back tomorrow. Simple enough. The next day I came back saw the same clerk he said to me, WE HAVE A HUGE PROBLEM ....OK...I thought I just have nail in a tire or something...but he bought me my tires in pieces saying that the inside is all messed up and has cracks in the tires...and that he needs to replace both tires...being in a hurry again I couldnt wait so I asked him to put my tires back together so I can get it fixed elsewhere. He then told me that he cant because if he put it back together and something were to happen they would be liable. Frustrated, I left taking my tire in pieces: rims and tire. After getting home I realized the tire didnt match my other ones, it was of a different size!!!! I had these replaced at Costco a while back and I KNOW i got all of them in the right size. Long story short. BEWARE OF THESE GUYS!!!! NOTHING IS FREE!!!! I would give a negative score if I could

Back story: I have two tires from these people, and two from Leschwab. I had a flat, didnt remember where the tire was from. So I went to Discount tire. The person who served me is Ian. He tells me that my two tires from them are completely smooth and need to be replaced, and the flat is on one the Leschwab tires. So I agree to replace those two supposedly smooth tires. While paying, I remembered that those were only bought in February! so why do I need to replace them after only 10 months of use? I questioned that and he mumbled an answer about those previous tires not being guaranteed for milage or something like that. At this point I am tired after a long work day. I sense fool play but didnt want to wait or cause a scene. So I just pay. Now for the flat, main reason why I was there...Ian tells me it can not be repaired, and I can get a replacement at a "prorated" cost, just like at leschwab. Leschawab does not prorate, they replace for free when youre still under warranty. He does not budge and maintains that I have to pay. So I told him to put my spare back. The day after, I go to Leschwab. They FIX the supposedly non fixable tire, for free. I have been driving on it for 3 weeks, no problem whatsoever. Draw your own conclusion, but I absolutely do not trust them anymore and will never go to discount tire again.

I made a purchase online as well as an appointment. Within minutes, my wife told me that she had a doctors appointment during that hour. So, chagrined, I called Gavin to change from 10:30 to 1:30. Well, to my further chagrin, my place of employment called me late that night to request that I run an errand the next morning. So, the next morning I called Gavin and asked to move my appointment back, since I wasnt positive that I could fulfill my end of the obligation to make it there by 1:30. He told me they were booked until 5:00, so I made the appointment for that time. Well, I drive into the lot a few minutes before 5:00, and lo and behold......all 6 bays were full of cars in various stages of service, and the waiting room is standing room only. Gavin, you aint no doctor, and Im not sitting in your waiting room until you feel like seeing me despite my appointment time. If it looks like you have a couple of bays open next time I drive by next week, MAYBE Ill drop in and spend my $742.03. Or, maybe Ill just wave with my receipt from another retailer (and there are more than a few around) as I drive by.
