I came here a couple months back and the Assistant Manager Rob assisted me. There appeared to be more employees than customers in the store, but it took a bit for them to acknowledge I was there and it looked like Rob was reluctant to help me. Made me uncomfortable but I am pregnant and I was in need of extra cash. I was there to pawn a bracelet that I had bought from Cash America in Renton. Rob asked me how can help me? After my long wait in the store. I told him I would like to pawn my bracelet. He then asked how much did I want. I told him $700 knowing I could get more, I just wanted enough to handle my business, but also afford to get it out. He went to testing my bracelet, then he asked if it was mine. I said, yes. Funny, because Ive never been asked that before, so I had a feeling it was about to go left, just not in the manner I experienced. He continued testing the bracelet and even had another employee come over to assist. He took awhile and then finally came back and said its not passing his acid test. I was shocked, embarrassed and pissed! I asked him what does that mean? He said its fake. I said, "Well you need to call Cash America in Renton because they sold it to me for more 3x what I am asking for and said it was real solid gold. So they sold me fake gold?" I must have caught him off guard because he did not say anything, instead he turned around to the counter behind him (where he did the acid test) and showed me a white piece of paper with yellow lines (probably from a marker) and said it shouldnt be changing colors if its real. I told him to call Cash America in Renton to get this straightened out and he replied, no. I asked him if he could write down that it did not pass his acid test so I could provide proof to get my money back and he said, no, that they do not do that. I was super pissed by that time. He just acted all nonchalant and unhelpful and kept explaining how it was fake. Mind you none of the test were done in my face and he never explained the test he was doing. He just kept sticking to his guns that it was fake, as everyone looked at me. I told him I am going to Cash America in Renton and I will have them call him then. He said yeah have them call me and then he said they dont need to call me they can do their own acid test. I told him that we will be calling him. I left the store in tears, my boyfriend tried to console me as he called Cash America in Renton to explain what happened. They asked us to come by to straighten it all out. In short, the bracelet tested at 22k and they called the store and Rob just so happened to not be there. The manager said they will be sure to have a talk with him because that is bad business. They offered me $900 loan but I took my $700 I came in for and less than a month later I came back for it. Needless to say I will never do business with this store and I am debating if I should file a complaint through Attorney General, because I am still affected by this experience til this day. I would love an explanation on why he lied and was rude and unhelpful toward me and apology. I hope he no longer works here.
