One of Puppy Loves breeders bred a father dog with its daughter, then I bought one of the puppies for $650 without knowing this crucial piece of information. I discovered this fact two weeks later when I received my puppys AKC pedigree in the mail. I purchased my Cocker Spaniel puppy from Puppy Love in January 2011. I asked Todd to disclose what he knew about the breeders ... third litter is all he told me. A couple of weeks later I received my puppies AKC pedigree in the mail ... the breeders Denise and Joe Janocka had performed in-line breeding from one generation to the next. When I asked Puppy Love about this practice they told me to contact the AKC as they would not have sold me a puppy over my concern of being able to breed her. I really dont want to breed her but would like that option - now Im afraid of passing bad genes. So I visited the AKC website and spoke with one of their representatives. The AKC doesnt denounce inbreeding, but states it should be done at the discretion of the breeder and their veterinarian. After speeking with a lady on the phone from AKC her tone of voice indicated that breeders should skip a generation when inline breeding. According to Puppy Love, inline breeding is done to bring out certain characteristics. I think its a business that wants to make as much money as possible ... but it needs to remember its customers. Reputable critics have posted their opinions online: if you are breeding for a certain trait and do it the right way, it can be good ... but it also intensifies the bad with the good. My puppy has been diagnosed with clicking in the jaws (TMJ), which - according to my vet - is likely due to genetics!!! If you buy a puppy from Puppy Love ask about the pedigree. Both the critics and my vet indicate that reputable breeders rarely inbreed, if ever. Also, after my puppies initial veterinarian visit my vet discovered she had a chronic ear infection. A cytology report resulted in a yeast infection in her left ear ... there was also a slight eye infection. No wonder they dropped the price from $1,000 to $650 ... she was also the last of the litter ... they reimbursed me the $60 for the medicine but not the $40 for the cytology report. Make sure you do your homework when buying a puppy. Pet stores feed on our natural tendencies to act on impulse. Puppy Love gained me as a customer and then lost me as a customer after I discovered one of Puppy Loves breeders allowed a sire to mate with its daughter. Thats just plain wrong in my opinion. At this point all Im left to do is file a warrant in debt and let a judge decide whats right and wrong about this sort of business practice. That costs $60 to file and serve ... then Im not sure what kind of fight Im up against or what was in the fine print. BLUF: Visit and buy from private sellers ... avoid Pet Stores.

The puppy that we purchased is a nightmare. They first told us he would be completely healthy. He had an ear infection when we took him to the vet a day later. They also told us that he is a Cockapoo and when you google images, not ONE looks like our pup. I googled Cocker Spaniel, lab retriever mix, and its an identical match. Even the vet said he wasnt a Cockapoo. We have had him for two months now (six months old) and he still isnt potty trained. I have trained chihuahuas, pit bulls, germain shepherds, labs, etc., and this dog has some serious issues. He has the worst case of nervous prong ever. You go to pet him, he pees. You go to pick up a toy next to him, he pees. You walk by him too quickly, he pees. He will not pee on his peepads (for indoor training). He will only pee on the carpet - even with a peepad on the carpet! When he goes outside he will pee on the sidewalk and not the grass like any intelligent pup. We suspect this is because he is from a puppy mill where they have never seen the outside of a pen before. We requested his breeders information and they said they couldnt give it to us. Shady if you ask me. He also has the biggest separation anxiety ever and goes so far as to tear up the bedding in his crate. He isnt food motivated at all, and yes we tried the "save the economy" approach where when training him (also a nightmare) was the only time he would get food. He still didnt care. We tried everything to get him to eat, nothing worked except wet food. He wont eat treats at all. The dog is also TERRIFIED of other humans and dogs, which coming from a puppy shop I would think he wouldnt be!! He will choke himself with his leash to get away from other people and animals. NOT GOOD. I DO NOT recommend buying a puppy from here. They lie to you and overprice the dogs. I am starting to question their caring habits as well. This is not what to expect from a normal puppy. I will never buy a dog from here again. I will go to a breeder.

I entered the store with the intent of possibly buying a puppy since I have wanted a puppy for months not and upon entry I asked a gentleman what the average price for a puppy was. The woman with him responded that the yorkie she desired was for sale for 4000 dollars. (No that is not missing a zero) Now admittedly I do have a loud voice but I told her that the human society had a website where you could view the dogs available and that I recalled seeing a yorkie listed. A woman who I now presume to be the owner approached me and said maam "Im going to have to ask you to leave." Confused I responded "Im sorry have I done something wrong?" And she proceeded to tell at me telling me that she didnt appreciate me driving her serious customers away and that she was attempting to find these animals homes and that u was getting in the way of that. I tried to apologize to her and calm the situation at which point she threatened to have me removed from the mall. I said very calmly that I would leave her store but I wanted to ask what I did wrong she then began screaming that she would call security I then turned put my hands in the air like I was some kind of criminal and slowly walked out of the store. The entire time she yelled at me saying things like "get out, good bye, buh bye!" This is worst experience I have ever had in a store I meant neither her or her business harm and if she had asked me politely I would have stopped no problem and if she had asked me to leave I would have. She was completely unreasonable and I dont feel that I deserved that treatment.

Bought an English bulldog from here and got the puppy checked by my vet and come to find out the dog had a heart condition. I contacted Puppy Love and they said theyd contact the breeder. After calling and calling to get some answers if they had heard back from the breeder I got no answer, so I went to the store. Spoke with the manager and she finally said "oh the breeder said their dogs have no issues and your return policy has ended" so in other words they gave me a run around and waited for everything to end with my puppy and pretty much said "sorry not our problem now" So I stopped the payments on the dog and took legal advice from my lawyer until we figured out a solution. Puppy love then turned it into collection after 3 months of not getting paid and demanded I paid 17,000 dollars to them! Long story short, the breeder was never contacted by puppy love like they said, and I didnt have to pay a single dime and was even given the money I had already paid for the dog back which was a total of 1300 dollars. These people are a joke and liars! Also they claim to give you a a certain amount in puppy stuff, dog food, toys etc etc that total I belive it was 100 bucks (I could be wrong) but when I totaled everything up it came out to be like 28 dollars worth of stuff. Completely unprofessional group of people and KIDS that have no idea what they are doing maintaining the pets!
