The East Coast Bikes store in Oceanveiw is worthless! As a new cyclist, I have frequented local shops, as I live in Oceanview, to get a feel for the different types of bikes and to ask questions and get opinions and have found the customer service, knowledge and friendliness at this location to be disgraceful. On one occasion it was obvious that my looking at entry level models was not near as important as the other customers in the store and my simple questions about how fitting and tune ups was brushed off as pointless. I decided to give the shop one more chance and the next time I went in I was completely ignored, no one bothered to ask if I needed help or had questions. As someone who is brand new to the sport I will not be returning to this store nor will I be purchasing my bike from there or getting any service even though they are the closest bike shop to my house.

First time experience was a mess, asked for specific work on a bike that was not done. Couldnt find my bike for 10 minutes when I went to pick it up and the tire tube the shop "apparently" replaced (4 days earlier) blew 30 minutes into my ride on the Elizabeth River Trail (all sloped sidewalks and road). When I returned, I asked if someone could take a look at it. I was questioned about my riding ability and questioned/blamed for mulitple, hypothetical causes for the issue (did I put in a work order when it was busy/did I come close to closing time, "no" to all). I will say I appreciated the gentleman for replacing the tube, but he was originally going to charge me again before I explained my frustration. Ive ridden a bike around the Ghent area for a few years now, and I have never experienced such condescension. Unfortunately I will not be returning.

I have been dealing with East Coast Bicycles for about 3 years. I can honestly say they are second to none. From the owner to the entire staff they will bend over backwards going the extra mile to everything I have need is addressed and fulfilled. Their products are the latest and greatest at a fair price. In this day and age it is rare to see this level of service. It is something from days gone by and mostly forgotten except in those rare circumstances and rare establishments that keep this level of service. You guys are top shelf. I will continue buying from you in the years to come. From the bottom of my heart thank you very much.

Last week I brought my 1990s Raleigh M-40 (basic entry-level model) in for service, as I have done every 6 months or so since 2005. As usual the tech guys did an outstanding job. My expectations were exceeded. While a tune-up at East Coast is not super-cheap, it is extremely thorough. After the work was done my bike was a full gear faster. They told me what needed to be done and why without overstating problems or trying to up-sell parts. The work was done well ahead of the promised time and they called as promised right away. I dont live in Ghent any more but will continue to go to this shop for sure!

I started shopping at east coast a year ago. Every purchase reassures me why I have found a new local shop to stay loyal to. Im impressed with their large inventory of quality bikes between their 2 shops locally in norfolk. Every time I order a part it comes in very quickly and I receive quality expertise insuring the right parts are ordered for my bikes. The feeling and assurance Ive found in the owner standing behind everything Ive purchased is priceless. Cant get that from ebay. They make me feel like their only customer every time I go in or call.

Great Bike Shop and Wonderful Service!!! My wife bought me a Trek bike from East Coast in Ghent for my birthday. Not only was it probably the best birthday present I have ever received, but the service and knowledge that came along with the staff was impeccable! Every time I have a question or am looking for a certain bicycle related product I dont think twice. I head over to East Coast Bikes. The staff is very attentive and never makes you wait. Great local business that all Hampton Roads residents should support.

East Coast Bicycles is a very friendly and welcoming store who loves to help the community as well. Today, I came into East Cost asking for water bottle donations for a health class I teach in the community, one of the extremely nice men working there gave me a trashbag full of water bottles for no cost. It really will help my community initiative and I know that they are a wonderful bike shop as well, theyve fixed a few broken chains on my old bike. Long story short, go here for all your biking needs!

Love love love!!! East Coast Bicycles. Got fitted for both my road bike and my triathlon bike and couldnt be happier. Michael the owner is so through and checks everything from top to bottom. He is knowledgeable and friendly and honest. My triathlon fit was so close to perfect when I brought it in that he didnt even charge me!! Try getting that treatment at some of the larger chain bike shops, not gonna happen.

Add me to the list of devoted customers. I went in to East Coast Bicycles at the end of August to buy a Knog headlight for my bike. After a month and a half, the light stopped working for undiscernible reasons. I went back to the shop, but no longer had my receipt or the box the light came in. After looking at the broken light, the salesperson offered me a new replacement light of the same kind.

They have recently improved their staff on Colley. The sales staff is helpful but not hard core distance riders. The shop has expected extra items for a small shop of their size. They will be happy to order anything. Professional repair shop knows their stuff but you will pay for their knowledge. This is an average shop for average rider not for distance riders and tri athletes. J

Awesome local bike shop. Went in to purchase a road bike because Im tired of spending so much on gas, and left with an awesome bike. Picked up a Trek 1.2, helmet, jersey, shorts, and 2 lights. The staff is super friendly and very helpful and give you honest advice. Highly recommend East Coast Bicycles for anyone wanting to get into biking of any kind and for current cyclists.

Outstanding service and knowledge at East Coast Bicycles. The owner, Michael, worked with me for weeks to find the perfect bikes for my wife and me. Even after picking out bikes he was very reasonable when upgrading and switching out parts. Even though we live in Williamsburg well be coming to East Coast Bicycles in Norfolk for all our future bike support.

ECB always does a great job! I recently went in for maintenance without calling ahead and was in and out of there within a half hour as the replacement part was in stock thanks to the expert help of Mike. Before that, I went in for a broken rear axle, and it was covered under warranty free of charge since I bought my bike here.
