The shipping, receiving, and assembly of my $4,900 online purchase from Bikeworks did not go well. There have been several major issues. The worst was the chain received was too short and snapped the derailleur on the first ride. Also, multiple bearings and bearing covers have been discovered in the wrong place. The rear wheel wouldn’t spin correctly when installed and the front wheel was missing a hub end cap bearing cover. A local bike shop discovered the bearing cover from the front wheel smashed into the hub of the rear wheel. I had to pay the shop out of pocket for new parts and labor. Since notifying Bikeworks about the issue with the rear wheel no response has been received. Initial contact from the shop before purchasing was quick and professional but any contact after was delayed, inaccurate, and unsympathetic. I did not receive any paperwork, manuals, or other small items I’ve always received when purchasing a new bike. When asking about this I was told they were included but they were not. I was also told that their shipping process is very meticulous. That statement was annoying after finding multiple reese’s peanut butter cup wrappers packed away with the bike parts. The most frustrating part has been the poor customer service, especially with a fairly large purchase.
