Our salesperson was very helpful in order to make a sale, but other than that, our experience was AWFUL. We put couches and a chair on layaway because we were waiting until we moved to get them. Once we finally paid the couches off, it was a nightmare! Once they were paid, they said it would be a week until we could get the couches, once a week rolled by, we called to confirm and they said that they would not actually be here 10-14 business days after they were paid off. So that postponed us by about two weeks. We agreed when purchasing the couches that we would pick them up at the store but when we called to confirm after the business days, we were told we had to drive an hour out of our way to pick them up from the warehouse. When we reminded them of what we originally agreed upon, they made excuses but eventually agreed, saying that they dont usually permit people to pick-up at the actual store. Once we finally went to pick up the furniture, there were signs posted around the exterior of the store that suggested that in-store pick-ups were allowed and very common. Call after to make sure you know what all is going on if you do buy here. The store was nice and so are our new couches, but after we agreed to purchase, it was a disaster!

First off I have to admit their furniture is great. The service you receive is great...while you are buying. Your salesperson has no interest in fixing issues after the sale is final. I do not receive returned phone calls nor do they pick up the phone. I would highly recommend using the store as a viewing to find what you want and order from the online store. This store does not match what the online store offers. I think each branch does their own thing since the Richmond store will match online. If the online says a couch comes with pillows, good luck getting the Newport News store to offer the same in the store. My furniture shipment was supposed to come all at once like discussed, it came in two separate shipments. I was told twice all my furniture was to be delivered at once and when that day came only half was delivered. I called the store and they had to reschedule. The next day I called to have the date moved earlier and when that date came close, I called the delivery company and was told Ashley never requested the date changed...well thanks again. Im just glad I finally received my furniture and dont have to deal with that store anymore.

The people at the store are very helpful to your face. We were promised delivery in 10 days. Almost one month later the wrong furniture was delivered. The chase lounge came on the wrong side and the ottoman didnt even match the couch that was purchased. We called the store and was told the manager would call us back. She called back and refunded our delivery fee and "promised" the right one would be delivered in "10" days. She admitted her salesman put the order in wrong over the phone. We will see if it gets delivered in "10" days but we are not hopeful, seeing how empty promises were made the first time. We are a military family and lived in a hotel for 2 months waiting to move into a house. This was the last piece to finish our move and complete our house. Thank you Ashley Furniture for delaying this and making this move never ending. I would not shop there again and would definitely not recommend shopping there. I know there are plenty of bad reviews on this place...listen to them unless you want a major hassle. If I could, I would give them zero stars.

Went by Ashley Furniture in Newport News to look for a pillow for my wife. Our salesperson was Chad. He was extremely knowledgeable, polite, & patient. We settled on a new mattress. How we got from a pillow to a mattress, pillows, pillow covers and a mattress cover is puzzling, other than we really need a new mattress. I wont go into all the details but we got home and decided to hold off on the mattress deal. It got a little complicated. After several conversations with Chad and people in management, we got things worked out exactly how we needed them to be. I was very impressed with how things were handled. We will absolutely go back to Ashley Furniture and see Chad when we decide to go forward on the mattress purchase and any other of our furniture needs. Ive been in sales most of my life and I know how frustrating it can be working for commission and having a sale sort of unravel and usually someone gets upset. Not the case here. Great job Chad and staff at Ashley Furniture in Newport News VA.

There customer service was horrible. I had to call back to see when my furnature that I purchased would be ready for pick up. They do not care at all about the customer once they get their money from you. I got a chair and it was damaged too cheap to come deliver a new one. I had to exchange the damaged one for the new one. I had to again call to see when the new chair was ready for pickup, and when I received the new chair it was damaged too. I just have to live with damaged furnature now because its not worth goin through all that trouble again to get a third chair. I will never do business with them again and I will make sure that everyone I know wont either. I wish there was something lower than one star. A horrible experience!

There was an older black lady standing at the door very polite asked what we were looking for so we told her I told her that if I needed any help Id ask her she replied no Im gonna keep my eye on you while your here wtf? She followed us around the whole store until I finally said forget it and left I wasnt sure if thought I was gonna rob the place or if she was gonna rob us very uncomfortable experience Im never going back there again! If you need to deal with Ashley go to the Richmond locstion!!! Thats a perfect example of someone who takes their job way too seriously!!

I cant even begin to describe how much I HATE THIS STORE. The sales staff extremely incompetent. The shipping of the furniture the same. It makes no sense as to why it took almost a month of us to receive our furniture and we will do not have it all. My daughters white bed set arrived extremely dirty. The manager is a complete joke. They could not even pay me to return to that store, literally. I refuse to ever shop there again. Value city has better customer service and shipping lead times compared to this joke of a store.

ASHLEY store is BIG time FRAUD! I had worse experience with them! If you cancel your order way in advance they will still penalize you with 20% cancellation fee( they wont inform the customer about this policy but its written in one of the paper they make you sign without reading).. when I raise this issue with manager, gave my input that they need to verbalize this policy to all customer( so that we can make right decision) , she seems totally uninterested! I wont recommend this store to anyone!!
