I had a pleasant first experience with McLean Hardware yesterday, after recently moving into the Tysons area. I found out about McLean Hardware after searching the internet for nearby Lowes and Home Depot stores and finding none. Within minutes after I entered the store, I was approached by George, a kind, older-appearing gentleman, who turned out to be quite knowledgeable about the store and a variety of DIY situations. My problem was that I needed some rubber stoppers to prevent a chair from sliding on my hardwood floor. Sounds simple, right? But Home Depot or Lowes didnt have the proper-sized parts, and I couldnt find any online either. George brought me to the appropriate section, and then proceeded to tell me that rubber stoppers that size simply were not commercially available. Instead, he recommended a DIY solution involving contact cement. By applying contact cement to the chair legs and allowing it to dry, the treated surfaces would adopt a tacky texture that made it slip-resistant. It would not scratch, or would it stick to the hardwood floor. George directed me to a $2.50 bottle of contact cement with applicator. To make a long story short, this solution worked! I was really happy about the service, and look forward to patronizing this small business for years to come.

If you live in the area and you are in need of a hardware store, this is the place to try. They have a large selection of all types of hardware as well as other household things. One of the best things about this place is that everyone knows their inventory. Just ask someone for something and they know where to find it. Most of the time, they will even take you to it. Because of its great selection, you can find all you need for almost any home project. I know that Home Depot is larger and has alot more items, but it is also an impossible place to find things They also dont have enough help that can tell you where to ind things. That place is more of a find it your self place. From Christmas lights to the smallest of fittings, McLean Hardware has a great selection and great service.

If you need one bolt or a few feet of hose, this place is great. Bring in a sample screw and you can quickly find a match in a huge variety of options. Cant say the same for the big box stores which make you buy 10 and you cant even test it. I cant vouch for how the pricing compares exactly with HD or Lowes since those big stores make you buy larger quantities of anything I want. Theyre always offering help if you need it and willing to leave you alone if you dont. A lot of the items I buy dont even have a price tag, so the cashier works on the honor system, which I think is so much nicer than having some incomprehensible English spewed at you demanding proof of the price. The hours arent great, but its a home town store, so thats expected. Im a fan.

Nine out of ten times you go there they wont have what you want. Home Depot is only a short trip away. You assume that this local store is closer to you and that coming here will save you time. That only works if they have what you want. For some odd reason Ive kept on making the same mistake over and over again by coming here. Blame on it some mistaken notion about small and local always being better. Its not. Overpriced and understocked. The staff? An assortment of chipper, cute young high school guys, sullen rednecks and the odd person who knows what hes doing. The so-called "handyman" in the back deserves special attention for being a white trash prima dona with a bad attitude. There are two Home Depots within a short drive of here.

Not sure what got into Tom Boner, but I am guessing that "his" is a malicious review, because he has obviously never been to this store. We have been shopping here since 1987 and they are wonderful. There is always someone ready to help you. I have never been disappointed with their selection. The same cant be said of trips to Home Depot. The store isnt that close, so again not sure what "Tom" was referring to. The prices here are very competitive. I highly recommend this long time McLean business. They are wonderful.

This is a local hardware store that gives outstanding customer service. There are typically employees standing at the entrance, almost literally begging to help you. When you bring them your need, they escort you personally and make sure you get what you need. It seems like it might be a family business. They take great pride in it. The prices are a bit high, but everything is in Mclean. At least this place provides service to justify the prices. Selection is surprisingly good for a small location.

Definitely my best retail experience in recent memory. I needed to replace my temporary tags with permanent license plates--a fairly easy task, but I was worried about not buying the right screws (since I figured Id need to keep my temporary tags on and wouldnt be able to check the fit). They assisted me in finding the right screws and let me borrow a wrench so I could install the plates on site. All for a $2 transaction! Ill definitely be doing my hardware shopping here in the future.

Rude, rude, rude. I was really surprised at how rudely I was treated by the store manager - he raised his voice and became aggressive. What should have been a straight forward transaction was anything but. With the standards set in the area by local hardware stores like Browns Hardware in Falls Church, Bills Hardware, Ayers Variety, and Cheerydale Hardware in Arlington, and the numerous Home Depots, there are a number of much better options.

Very friendly staff, always eager and able to help. They dont have "everything" (this is not Home Depot), but they have most of the stapes, plus some interesting odds and ends (its hard to walk out with only what you walked in for, but they dont push anything on you). If they dont have something you need, theyll help think through alternatives. Glad they are part of the community.

This hardware store is a gem. They have everything, and the customer service is top notch. This is not the frustrating experience your lackluster home depot. Rather than blank stares and directions to a random isle, I was shown where to find what I needed. The store itself is nice also.

Pretty much everything you need and much, much better service than you will get at a big box store. If youre a DIY wannabe like me, Mclean Hardware is great because its easy to find someone who knows what theyre talking about and can walk you through your project.

The staff is always very helpful, and will take the time to show you what you are looking for. They are a small hardware store and it gives you that feeling of a small town, I highly recommend it for all of your small projects.

Before you get 10 feet in the door, someone is there to ask you if you need help finding something and they will take you there. Plus, I am constantly amazed on how often they do have it. Simplify your life, go here first.
