Finally! A convenient and quality coffee shop returns to Wicker Park. I still think that the Wormhole (on Milwaukee) and Star Lounge make the best espresso and drip in the City (in that order) but La Colombe is right up there. WickerPark/Bucktown/UkiVillage was once a coffee lovers paradise but when the old Filter, Half and Half, and Jinx shut down and Atomix changed ownership a couple of years ago, quality coffee disappeared. Thankfully weve now added another coffee shop to the list and on your route to the Blue line or north/damen/milwaukee bus, whichever is your transit choice. Milk and Honey is also decent but their espresso (to me) doesnt really pack a punch. Sort of like medium grade. Everything else in the neighborhood is pretty meh. Yup, that is a technical term.

Ive been here a few times now when I go down to the city - but I thought I would finally write a review for this lovely coffee shop. Its located underneath the Damen L Station. Walking into the cafe it is quiet and quaint. The environment is serene and a great place to do some schoolwork or read the daily newspaper over a cup of java or tea. The staff is nice and also will give great recommendations as well. The seating in the shop is spaced out nicely in my opinion of where you dont feel too "buddy-buddy" to the person sitting next to you which is nice. The atmosphere is calm and quiet which makes a trip to La Colombe a must if you are looking for a place to do work or chat with friends over a hot cup of coffee.

This place has been all the buzz lately so I was so glad to be able to try it out this weekend! La Colombe makes quality coffee - I ordered a cappuccino and was veryy pleased with the foam/frothiness at the top and the strong full coffee underneath. Although the drinks may be smaller in size, they are also cheaper. $3.75 for a cappuccino at La Colombe versus $4.00 for the same at Wormhole. And although it is minimal, when you are meeting with friends La Colombe is definitely the place to go - not as many people hiding out/working and more social groups and places to sit. Definitely check it out!

Im new to the Chicago region so I got right to work finding my go-to coffee shop. La Colombe is the winner. The atmosphere is so lovely (they focus on a big, bright, open space with a woodsy, minimal theme), the coffee is fantastic (I usually go for the iced coffee with hemp milk and honey), and the staff is very helpful and quick. The café doesnt have wifi, so if youre planning on using the internet, be prepared to use your phone. Overall, a great place to get some work done and drink some good coffee.

The coffee, pastries, and atmosphere are all fabulous, with an old-world vibe. I had a phenomenal cappuccino, with just the right amount of deliciously thick foam, and a nearly perfect croissant--not too buttery, but rich. Unfortunate, they do not have WiFi, so if you are looking for a good place to work, make sure you dont need connectivity, or tether your phone. Then again, maybe this is part of its charm...

This is a small and barely noticeable coffee place just below the Damen stop on the blue line. The brewed coffee they sell is pretty delicious, very much like dark chocolate. Prices are about average. The staff is polite. The space is clean. Im leaving a review for this place because this area is saturated with small coffee shops that range from terrible to great and La Colombe is probably my favorite.

Excellent coffee - especially the Black and Tan and the Draft Latte. Always makes for great, quick break or when you need a caffeine boost. I havent yet tried any of their hot drinks since the drafts are so good and ready so quickly, but I imagine theyre just as good. A nice cozy spot and its surprisingly quiet considering its directly under the Damen Blue Line El platform.

The place has a great decoration and Couldnt be more well located. Coffee however is not more than acceptable. They do nice late art, but care should be taken to the type of cup they serve things into, as well as roasting profiles. Croassaint with ham And cheese was terrible and cold, however muffins were good.

I like La Colombe...but it is hit and miss. They use to have Hemp milk...maybe they do again, but was turned onto it there and liked it. Overall the coffee is good but not my favorite...which is ok. While this would not be my first stop, I would say go in and try it. It is good and it just may be me.

Really excited to have this nearby in Andersonville. Really big space- big enough to not feel like you are crammed into a noisy coffee shop. If youre headed there to do work, be prepared to bring your own wifi as they do not offer it. A valiant attempt to bring alive the art of engaging with people.

Great cappuccino, beautiful space, fantastic location! I stopped by La Colombe on a whim because I wanted some coffee and had to wait for a friend. I had such a great experience! The staff was very friendly, and the atmosphere was perfect. This will definitely be one of my regular coffee shops.

I love La Colombe coffee so I will trek to this hectic location to get it. The staff are nice here and they have a large unisex bathroom which is a plus when youve chugged a large coffee. The seating isnt great so I usually get coffee to go, but the coffee bar has a nice flow to it.

Really great coffee with a laidback and gorgeous atmosphere. Lighting is inviting and the space is very open. A great space for conversation and getting some work done. Probably in an effort to promote human interaction, they dont have WiFi (and scarce but available plugs).

Very good coffee in a well-designed, convenient location to the Damen station on the Blue Line. If you are looking to add flavors to your coffee this is not the place. However, an excellent latte or cortado is possible as well as espresso or a cup of black.

La Colombe has excellent coffee for before getting on the Blue Line. Even the to-go coffee is served with the lid and the metal spoon on a saucer. Just be sure to leave the spoon and saucer behind when you leave.

Great coffee, nice location right next to Stans Donuts. Get your donuts then walk over and get your coffee and enjoy both at the coffee shop. Coffee is good. They have fresh water and sparkling water on tap.
