This,Safeway on Willard,Way is our neighborhood store.. Today, my husband and I had one of the worst experiences we have ever had in any retail establishment ! We live about 3 min walking distance from Safeway store 4001 on Willard Way in Fairfax, so we shop here literally everyday, sometimes more then once,a day. Without getting into the ugly specifics and a very long horrible review ,we wanted to just state the basics... Ms Crystal Norman, the AM dairy clerk is the most unpleasant, rude and abrasive employee we have ever come across hands down. For Safeway to put this person on the floor where customers actually come in contact with her is the worst customer service decision. My husband and I have called and spoken to the manager on duty and filed a verbal complaint. I would like to say that the entire management team at this Safeway are beyond exceptional express friendliness ,customer service, product and store knowledge, that is why its so hard to believe that this dairy clerk Ms Crystal Norman gets away with conducting herself so offensively, has zero customer service skills ,and actually gets offended if you even say Good Morning to her,let alone, dare ask her where to find something !! My family and my husbands family are very long standing, loyal Safeway consumers /customers, the amount of our hard earned money we have spent at Safeway over the years to be treated with such disrespect and to feel so upset over a customer service dairy clerks just plain meanness and harsh tone, jesters and words is unacceptable.. This small posting is just the beginning of our intent to make sure no one ever has to feel how we were made to feel by Ms Crystal Norman... We will be filing this complaint in written explicit detail to upper regional management, not to mention the legalities of feeling threatened and fearful simply having to come face to face ever again just to grocery shop at Safeway store # 4001, because of the rude, discriminating actions of the dairy clerk Ms,Crystal Norman.

I live nearby and this is at a convenient location for me so I frequent this place. Usually have no problems here but my last visit made me weary of their prepared food options. I picked up a box of fried chicken (8 pieces) that was refrigerated since I wasnt going to eat it right away. I heated them up in the oven for dinner and only when I took a bite out of it I found out it was over-fried (burnt breading) and it was soaked in oil. I have worked my share in the food service industry to know fried food soaked in oil points to overused, burnt oil. How they put these out for sale, that I do not know. After a bite, the whole container went into the trash. It seems like they have serious quality control issues/possible health code violations in the kitchen. Stay away from their prepared food options and you should be golden.

Overall, a standard grocery store. Probably the worst Deli I have ever encountered. Half the time I give up after waiting a few minutes to be acknowledged. Often while getting my food cut, I see 1-2 people stop by then leave and give me an exasperated look. Today I waited 5 minutes watching an employee cleaning something with her back to me. I did not feel like yelling so that she could hear me over the water. This has been going on for years. I dont know why I still bother sometimes. At least they are consistent .... Funny story: one employee took his sweat stained hat off and put it on the scale. I suspect they send employees who cant do anything else to work at the deli. Probably they should close it so as to not give customers false hope.

I travel to Latin America frequently, and this Safeway reminds me of supermercados in some of the poorer cities there. It is conveniently located, but we only shop there when we need one or two things and do not want to drive. It is poorly stocked, and freshness can be a problem. For example we never buy milk at this Safeway, because it always goes sour a day or two after the purchase. The store is badly in need of a "face lift," and the staff is generally indifferent - "look in Aisle 6" instead of taking the customer to the proper shelves. If one is willing to drive a mile or a little more, there are much better grocery stores, including another Safeway on Nutley Street. A third world experience at first world prices.

Absolutely TERRIBLE. Have shopped here a few times before despite the fact that everything is more expensive at this store than pretty much any other grocery in the area. But this time we got treated terribly by the person ringing us up. Not only did he express annoyance that we chose his checkout stand, he proceeded to act terribly, judging that we were spending too much to be college students, and acting bitterly about my husband and I buying certain items. The body language and tone was hostile, and when I could get the same items much cheaper anywhere else, we have no need and never wish to shop here again. Im sure other workers there are great, but this has dissuaded me from ever giving them a chance.

This used to be my go-to grocery store but in the past few months, I have found so many expired items at this location that I have stopped shopping here. If you pick up an item, there is about 50% chance that it is expired. They sell expired meat (bacon, ground chicken, chicken legs, pork), veggies (carrots, celery), milk, old bay seasoning, yogurt, eggs, and the list goes on. So I do not recommend this location at all. If you really have to shop here, make sure to check the expiration date for every product you buy.

Always quick and courteous service. Pharmacy is particularly responsive and helpful. Reasonable prices and quality compared to Wegmans or Walmart. Been going here for over ten years and never had a problem. If there is something unique I cannot find, they are happy to order and stock them. Very responsive.

This Safeway is long overdue for a makeover. People refer to this as the "ghetto Safeway" for good reason. It is in horrible condition despite being next to a gorgeous neighborhood. The entire shopping strip is in desperate need of a major overhaul.

Great essential groceries store with exactly what you are looking for regularly in stock. lines can be a little long at register but they usually call in extra staff really quickly.

Worst Safeway Ive ever been to. Outdated and gloomy. Service sucks, and no matter how busy it might get in here there are only ever 2 registers open at the most.

Needs an upgrade. Understaffed. Other than that, everyone is friendly and helpful. If this is your closest grocery store, you should shop here.

Their products always seem more expensive. Additionally, the fresh foods seem to be rot quicker then a similar product from another store.

The service is slow and unpleasant. The selection is minimal. The prices are high. Ive only been by for the central location.
