I came into the shop a couple of weeks ago for my first tattoo. I wanted a very simple design: the constellation pisces on my left wrist with 3 small stars connected by little dots. I didnt think it would be possible to mess up, but when you end up with someone who doesnt seem to care about making his clients happy, it is very easy to mess up. Unfortunately I ended up with Johnny. Johnny didnt make getting my first tattoo a pleasant experience. He seemed annoyed that I not only interrupted his time, but also asked questions throughout the experience. When he asked what I wanted, I described the constellation and instead of asking me to be more specific, he asked if I wanted him to "come up with a design out of thin air". Right off the bat, he was rude and impatient. Onto the tattoo itself! The tattoo looks okay from far away when you cant really see it, but unfortunately I get to see it up close every day. The "stars" dont have sharp points, nor are they even or good looking. The dots arent round; theyre more blob shaped that somewhat resemble a circle. Right before putting the dots on me, he muttered that they "might be a mistake" so Im sure he didnt try to put any effort into them since he didnt like the idea. I love the idea of my design and it went on my body, so Im not sure why he said anything. Or if he didnt like the design, he couldve politely refused to give me the tattoo instead of wasting our time and gaining yet another one star review from an unimpressed client. After doing a bit of research on Johnny, Ive found that Im not alone in having an unpleasant experience with him. Im not one to complain about much or write negative reviews. I understand that mistakes happen and people have "off" days, however, thats not the case with Johnny. His tattoos are half-assed and he doesnt care if his clients are pleased with the outcome. He never asked me if I liked mine and didnt tell me his name until it was all over. Even then, he "welcomed" us back in a very monotone and insincere voice. The person I brought along with me agreed with me about everything: that it was an unpleasant experience, he made it seem like I was annoying him by interrupting his time/asking questions, and that no effort was put into my tattoo. We definitely didnt want to stay any longer or ever come back to the shop. The only reason Im posting this is to warn others away from going to Comes a Time for a tattoo from Johnny.

Super sad about my experience at Comes a Time. After much research and planning, my husband and I went to get our first tattoos yesterday morning: simple star designs to honor a difficult loss. We chose Johnny because he is well-reviewed online and because he specializes in tribal and Celtic designs. When we arrived for our appointment, Johnny was very friendly and personable. We liked the look of the shop and we liked the creepy little hairless dogs. We brought our own design; Johnny said he could do it, but insisted that the design would have to be enlarged to come out well, and we agreed to the change. The final size is about the diameter of a quarter. He charged us $85 each, which seemed a little steep for a small, all-black tattoo, but I figured you get what you pay for. Not so. My husbands tattoo is on his shoulder. It came out fine, with straight lines and sharp points on the star. I think it’s going to look pretty good once healed. Mine is on my ribs, so I couldn’t get a very good look at it at the shop. Notably, there were no mirrors in the room where we were tattooed; I took a quick peek in the bathroom mirror, but couldnt get too close. Once I got it home, removed the bandage and cleaned it up, I saw that mine had actually come out very poorly. The lines are crooked, every arm of the star has a different size and shape, and some of the points are rounded. I did call the shop this afternoon hoping to speak to the store owner, but was told by the very nice woman who answered the phone that they were owned by a private company. She took my information and told me she’d call me back, but actually it was Johnny who returned my call. I wasn’t thrilled to talk to him – I knew that conversation wasn’t going to go well, and it didn’t. He was very defensive, naturally, and told me it was the small size of the tattoo and my choice of location that made it turn out poorly. He did say that I could come in in two weeks for a touch-up, but I am not eager to give him a second chance. Honestly, it kind of shocks me that Johnny was satisfied with his work. With no management to talk to, and no happy ending in sight for me with this shop, I can’t recommend Johnny or Comes a Time. He’s a nice guy (when he’s not mad), and I’m willing to believe that he was having an off day, but thats small comfort when permanent body modification is on the line. Look elsewhere. I am.

Heading into any tattoo parlor for the first time can be a tad overwhelming. .. its a tattoo parlor. But this dimly lit place has great people that are there to help you with your dreams. I searched around for someplace to get my sons first tattoo for his boot camp graduation and Rianne sparked my interest. My wife wanted a tattoo also but she was a bit scared b/c of the pain and the commitment. Riannes art on the website was great and her personality was spectacular. So my son and i went and spoke to Rianne and made an appointment with the promise of a huge tip if my wife got a tattoo also.. Since then (about 2 months ago) my wife has 4 tattoos and a surface piercing (from Riannes hubby, Sean), My son has 5 tattoos, and I am 1 session away from my full calf sleeve being finished. Once that calf is done its time to start the other. Every time one of us are in there getting tattooed Sean is always friendly and his apprentice Jen is running around like a squirrel taking care of things for everyone, still taking the time to chat and be a good friend. Rianne gets down to business and does what she does best without a 2nd thought. While we are getting tattooed Painless J and Johnny drop in and give her props for her great work. Its a family in there and it truely doesnt take much to become part of that family. If you are looking for a long time tattoo relationship or just want 1 piece to hang onto the rest of your life. Stop in this place is GREAT and I am happy to have become a part of their family

We went to Sean to have my ear, and my wifes nipples done. She chickened out after the first one, but otherwise, we both had a good experience. We came back several months later to have her second nipple done, and have a longer bar put in the first one. This time, he didnt give any warning before he started (no clamps), and managed to pierce it less deep than the first one, and noticeably crooked. Then he gave us a line about how it would "pull the nipple out" after time. Pure BS. There is no way that a piercing is going to migrate backwards! I had the overall feeling that he just wanted us out of there (we arrived an hour before closing, and were the only customers). I was hesitant to tip, given our dissatisfaction, until my wife mentioned it in front of him. She only knew that this time around, it didnt hurt as much (due to going less deep) and couldnt see the results from her angle. The next day, the end ball fell off and she lost her bar, requiring a painful home re-insertion. His record is 2/3 with us, but as jacked up as the second trip was, I cant give him higher than a 2 rating.
