Every tattoo I have is from Dark Horse, I simply dont have the words to describe how incredible and amazing everyone is there. I have two pieces from Jon, whos linework is precision perfect and who could not be a better artist to get your first tattoo from; hes friendly, funny, sweet, does a great job of easing any anxietys, and hes damn good at what he does. Cat is a magical human being; I had my full back Phoenix tattoo that Ive been planning for ten years done by her over the course of six months, and its everything I could have dreamed and more. She truly has an incredible talent and magnificent vision; she can take a vague mental outline that you have for a piece and turn it into a beauty beyond the limits of this world, seriously. Go in for a consultation, sit down and talk with her about your ideas, and shell do everything in her power to give you the best tattoo she possibly can. She gives 110% every time, and I felt no reservations whatsoever in entrusting my 10 year long dream to her. Steve is fantastic, I mean truly a genuinely caring and funny guy; time spent around Steve is never a dull moment and hes obviously very passionate about what he does. My understanding is he is longer piercing and has instead taken over managerial duties, but he will still gladly lend his expertise to answer any questions or concerns you have about anything. My first session with Cat to do my back piece, as well as my first time ever meeting Steve, I asked him about a nipple piercing that had been rebelling on and off for a few years at that point; he calmly, effectively, and informatively explained what what happening to it and what needed to be done to remedy it, all while maintaining a straight face as Im standing there awkwardly with my breast out because it didnt occur to me yet that I could put it away. Steve is a wonderful guy, and every passing day you spend without getting to meet him is a day unfulfilled. Then there was Laura. She was the one working the front desk every time I went in; shes not working there anymore as shes moved on to bigger and better adventures, but Ill mention her here in the hopes that maybe shell see this. Laura was my life force, she was everything to me; Im naturally an extremely anxious person, and Laura knew that and did everything she could, whenever she could, to make me feel comfortable. In the six months I spent working with Cat, a fair few personal stresses always seemed to pop up on tattoo day, and Laura was never anything other than supportive, kind, and just perfect in general. She made me feel at home, and thats a rare feeling when youre as anxious as I am. So Laura if youre reading this, thank you so much for everything; youre awesome. Everyone Ive encountered here has been an absolute joy to get to know, and the work Ive had done here is nothing short of miraculous magic. Im sure Ill be back there for my next project before too long, but in the meantime I hope this lengthy review is enough to sway at least one persons mind into going there over somewhere else, because I can promise you wont regret it! I went in last week just to get some jewelry, but decided to write a review because I was so impressed. Ive been to a few shops all over the DC/NOVA/Baltimore area for myself and to be a pillar of support for friends - this is by far the cleanest, most organized, and friendliest Ive ever been to. While I was waiting to talk to the piercer about replacement jewelry, I overheard him giving very detailed care and cleaning instructions (down to what brands of soap to use) to his last client. I didnt mind waiting because he was really taking the time to make sure his client (who had an appointment, I didnt) had all the information she needed and felt comfortable with the care instructions. When they were leaving he made sure she had all his contact info in case she felt there was an emergency after hours (Ive never seen someone offer that, very comforting with a new piercing or tattoo). Long story long, if I ever want another piercing or tattoo Im already sold on Dark Horse for this experience alone.

Ive got one of my favorite tattoos done here, the artwork was phanominal! As well as, the artist was VERY helpful during the tattooing, as well as reassuring and checking in on my comfort. The secretary there, was very rude. She has on and off attitude and seems to have a sense of entitlement. She very moody, and is rarely ever there to provide assistance to new customers while the artists are busy. Ive walked in there 3 times, and was never helped, I had to walk to the back where the tattoo artists were busy and notify them of my presence to still have the assistant no where to be found. Final time I walked in there, I waited for about 10 minutes til the assistant FINALLY decided to show up, then proceeded to give me and my friend attitude when we had some questions. Gave very "bitchy" responses and just all around childish and disrespectful. Sad to see such a great place with great talent to have such a rude greeter. Debatable of Ill ever go back for work.

I am so thankful to have discovered Dark Horse. I got a tattoo that I wasnt necessary thrilled with and wanted it altered. A few places I went to wouldnt do what I wanted and I felt so disappointed...until I went to Dark Horse and immediately felt comfortable. The man at the front desk was extremely friendly and everyone was so respectful and awesome. Cat got me in real quick for my tattoo and I couldnt be happier with the result. She altered my tattoo and added some beautiful embellishments around it. I felt like she did a great job listening to what I wanted and interpreting it. Dark Horse is amazing and I will definitely be going back there for my next tattoo!

Although Ive never had anything done at this shop, I received fabulous customer service and advice from Steve over phone. I called with concerns about a piercing I had done elsewhere, and although I was not a customer, Steve answered all my questions thoughtfully and was incredibly helpful. I was referred to another piercing shop closer to my home which was convenient. Though I cant say for tattoos, I would definitely recommend Dark Horse to anyone looking for a piercing as the employees clearly know what they are talking about and give excellent customer service. I will return to this shop for other piercings and jewelry.

Steve is doing great work for his industry. Customer service is the best Ive ever experienced. He took the time to talk to me on the phone and in person and offered his knowledge and insight even if I didnt get the piercing there. Very professional, personable, clean, and overall a friendly dude, which you dont see too much in this line of work. I got a Prince Albert, which I was very nervous about, and he made me feel comfortable and confident in his skills and training. If youre thinking about getting pierced and are in the northern virginia area, Electric Steve is the guy to go to. Top notch!!
