Good service, great products, good buys! We have bought several outdoor items from Back Country and have always found the service to be wonderful! All the employees are very knowledgeable and if they are not an "expert" in the field you are looking to buy, they will match you up with someone who knows the products. As a beginner, they have never tried to oversell me products or put me in items above my skill level or need. Back Country is always our first stop for outdoorsy stuff! Also, they may have higher-end stuff, but they are fairly priced and always running great sales!

I was recently harassed by a salesman here for returning an item (with receipt, within 14 days as per their policy). He insinuated that I had purchased the same item cheaper on the Internet and was only using his store to try out items and "take advantage" of his small business. (I wasnt--I found a different model I liked better at another local business). His behavior was rude, inappropriate, and insulting. I will NEVER shop here again. Thankfully, there are other small businesses that sell similar items in Blacksburg.

Highly recommend this place! The staff was extremely helpful and pretty unbiased with their opinions. They carry the best merchandise too. I was highly satisfied with the conversations and advice that I was provided with. They also showed me how to wax my board and gave me a free tool. You cant beat the $150+ discount due to having a student ID either :)

Never had a bad experience here, although the limited selection can be a bit disappointing at times. Sales staff is helpful, knowledgeable and easy to strike up a conversation with on any number of topics, and genuinely want to help you find what youre looking for.

Hometown place with knowledgable staff. If yoy want the inside scoop on local adventure, theyve got it. Decent selection of outdoor clothing but great selection of climbing and paddling gear. Worth a look-see.
