We have been to the Bass Pro on Lakeridge many times because its close by and it has a huge selection of outdoor gear. The prices are too high for their brands of merchandise. The shoe dept sucks because of very limited sizes available, the less than minimal staff on hand to help customers, are inept to say the least. The hunting / weapons dept is well stocked except for the few employees on hand who are not much help and are rude in person and on the phone! For me the best dept is the fishing dept and thats not saying much. The restaurant was good when they first opened, now it too is a sad experience. Even the cashiers seem to have a negative attitude. A very interesting note... at Bass Pro the amount of paperwork to sign off on to purchase a firearm is twice that of any other store required by law. Basically its their own internal stuff designed to protect them should something go wrong...B.S. paperwork for you to sign off on. Green Top also nearby has a huge selection of products but in my opinion they are a bit pricey for the most part but not as bad a Bass Pro. From now on I will go to Green Top because they do have very helpful / knowledgeable staff on hand to help us. Im not asking to be treated special, just to be have a store and its staff acknowledge I exist, provide a good product at a reasonable price and not to be treated like Im a number. So guess what Bass Pro? I gave you yet another chance this past weekend and everything I noted above is exactly as it has been for years now. Im voting with my wallet. Im going to give you what youve given me and my family... nothing. We will never go to this store again! When I do speak of anything concerning outdoor equipment, weapons, etc I never mention your name... Bass Pro ... You Suck! Your CEO needs to pull an Undercover Boss on your stores. If they did they would fire the whole lot in Ashland Va. He/She should also be so ashamed they should also fire themself. If I could give this store 0 Stars I would and it would be too much. Bass Pro, as Mr Wonderful says... youre dead to me.

I love the store itself. And shop there often. However I took my boat up there for service. It has fuel injection so it has a computer. I was charged $480 to clean the fuel pressure regulator and replace the brand new plugs that had 2 hrs on them. So $400 in labor to diagnos the problem and clean it. Ive had this boat for 13 years since new. And like every boat owner spend money on it every year. I get having a boat worked on is exspensive. But I also know when a simple thing gets overcharged for. On top of that the technician told me that none of my lights or power worked on the boat. But like most quality boats the breaker is turned off when there not in use. "Master mechanic" Then they made a written recommendation to replace my trailer because the mounts to the boards on the trailer were rusted. Then they wouldnt even give me a price to fix! This is a fiberglass trailer with aluminum wheels, sealed hubs trailer by the way. It cant be replaced for a couple hundred dollars. So I took it by Cabelas on the way home. I left it there for service $250 parts and labor and they even used OEM brackets and hardware. "New trailer" And there customer service was excellent!! Not impressed by the "PROS" on knowledge, priceing, or customer service! I will make sure to tell all friends with boats my Bass Pro boat shop story. So if your reading this review deffinitly shop at bass pro for fishing and boat supplys. Just dont ever take your boat there for repair!!

Finding the place on I95 is almost impossible there aren’t signs to the exit. Everything with exception of the bait is made in China. The store is well stocked but its junk not useful outdoor equipment. My husband is a loyal Green Top customer and I grew up with LL Bean, BPS sells camo colored crap. Couldn’t find basic things like gloves and hats – outdoor stuff. The shoe selection is abysmal. Guns and ammo are popular so you’d think they would dedicate more staff to take care of the demand. Remove the people trying to sell time-share vacations from the fish tank area. I’m sick of people trying to sell me stuff. They made seeing Santa by appointment only. They wouldnt even let the kids into the play area. Some fat snotty bi*#h said we had to come back at 5pm for the next set of appointments, it was 1pm. My kids were crying; my son wrote his list this year and wanted to see Santa at Bass Pro Shop. It was a mess and management was unapologetic for their staffs attitude. We usually go to see Santa at the BPS in Baltimore and never had to make an appointment online before coming to the store. The restaurant is horrible. I cant stand spending money at a restaurant on food that I can make at home. The wait is too long; the servers take your order and disappear. Over priced and microwaved was my impression. Even the parking lot is annoying; there isnt an exit at the far end you have to drive around and around to get out.

Last year I bought a 2014 Tracker Pro Team 175 TF. I have LOVED it and fish every weekend. Yes, I probably overpaid for the boat however as a first time boat owner I knew Id need a strong customer service team and had a good feeling about the Ashland store. Boy did I make the right decision. Today my girlfriend and I went down to Deep Bottom to haul in some fish. After we returned to the dock I was shocked to see that my boat trailer had been stolen! After calling the police to file a report and calling my insurance company to report a claim I was faced with my boat in the water and no way to get it anywhere. Geico Marine had no towing companies that could assist. AAA couldnt help either. Bass Pro Shop stepped up to the plate and hit a HOME RUN! Although they did not have a trailer to offer me for purchase right away they blew me away with their customer service. They took a new boat off a new trailer, grabbed an employee and a truck and actually sent him to come and get my boat. They even offered to store it until my new trailer arrives. I cant say enough about Chris, Roy and crew at the marine shop. You guys made a horrible experience a little less painful and Im forever grateful! For those of you shopping around for a boat......STOP HERE!

I have been to the Bass Pro in Ashland a handful of times because it is relatively close to home. From a hunters perspective they are no better than Gander Mountain (Terrible BTW) in regards to having hunting essential on hand given the current hunting season. Last duck season my decoys were lost in a boating incident so I headed on down to green top to buy a handful to get through the season. Not a single decoy in the whole store. REALLY! This past weekend I was heading down to Buckingham County for a weekend of Turkey hunting. The only camo face mask I can find in my gear is the one I like the least. No problem. Ill stop at Bass Pro and pick one up along the way. Yep you guessed it. SOLD OUT! Who runs this place? Definitely not a hunter. Also I dare you to find a popular shirt in XL or a popular boot in size 11.This is Bass Pro Shop not Gander Mountain who lost my business for the same reasons. The Bass Pro shop is just another Big box store who are really out of touch with real hunters and what they need. Bass Pro is more amusement park than a hunting and fishing essentials store.
