Ive never had such an awful an emotionally difficult experience in my life. I bought a bearded dragon from this store exactly a week ago. Im assuming the woman who sold us the bearded dragon was the manager (although her attire didnt indicate she was an employee at all--baggy black T-shirt, unkempt, looked as though she had a drug problem). As my boyfriend and I were waiting for another employee to get crickets for us, we were watching the baby beardies. We noticed a tiny runt (a 5 inch long little guy--Ive never seen a dragon this small sold in a pet store) whose tail was being gnawed on by a larger baby dragon. We were appalled at this, so we decided to take the little runt dragon home in hopes of saving him. So, we signed the necessary papers and the "manager" who sold us this guy proceeded to tell us that she "didnt care what we did with the bearded dragon once we got home." She even told us that the baby dragon should be eating medium sized crickets because thats what the dragons at this store eat. I thought that was pretty unprofessional but I was just happy that I saved the dragon from being eaten over night. We bought one of the 10 gallon bearded dragon terrarium kits (huge mistake as they dont provide the appropriate heating fixtures). So, over the course of the next few days we noticed our dragon became listless. He didnt eat and just slept the majority of the day. Even when we picked him up he would appear to be sleeping. Essentially, we read online that we should increase his basking temperatures and force feed him baby food. Today, we got a plastic syringe and fed him turkey and veggies baby food and his condition seemed to be improving slightly. In fact, we checked on him shortly after feeding, and he was actually dead. My boyfriend and I are absolutely heartbroken. Please if youre consider buying a pet from his location, think again. This establishment is filthy and unprofessional. I really hope this saleswoman is fired.

They re grooming service is absolutly terrible . We took our 4 year old golden retriever there. Obviously the dog has been groomed before and we have never had a problem. Two hours after we dropped her off they call and tell us that our dog "tried to bite the associate" and that we had to pick her up. When we went to pick her up, the dog was scared out of her mind and nothing was done with her. I immediatly flipped out . The only reason she would act that way is if she was threatened or probably being hurt. And then their story changed from the one they said when they initially called us about "the incident". Our golden is as friendly and sweet as it gets. And this wasnt her first grooming. They tried to sugar coat it and play it off like it was normal which got me even more upset. I would suggest take your animal to a professional and someone with an education. These people were very lazy and very unprofessional. Take your animal to people that know what they re doing and that dont lie to your face.

The employees at this location are rude, unhelpful, and downright disrespectful. My 1 year old rescue pit mix outgrew her medium sized cage and needed a larger one so we got her an XL one from here 2 days ago. Her first time in the new, larger cage she ripped up the front corner of the flimsy bottom plastic tray, after 90 minutes of being in it. Unhappy with the quality, we went back today and asked for a tougher bottom or some alternative. The cashier nastily recommended better training (ironic because my dog just went through PETCO training, and it has nothing to do with training but rather anxiety) and said that she cant do anything about bad dogs. Very unhelpful and actually kind of hurtful. Yeah. We went to the petsmart right down the road after that.

I bought a female long hair Syrian hamster on 7/7/16 and it died of wet tail on 7/19/16. Whats worse is that I was already upset about a previous hamsters death, and purchased this one to help me. In fact, I had to return the first one I got, because she tried to escape the cage. She was way too crazy, and bit me, drawing blood. I went in a few days after purchasing my hamster to get dog supplies with my uncle, and noticed that the hamsters in the cage where I bought mine were gone, even the first one I took home had vanished. My conclusion is that, since wet tail is contagious, one of the hamsters were infected and it passed to the others. I do NOT recommend purchasing small pets here.

Pet Co is the place I go . . . for my ferrets and ferret supplies. They genuinely care for the animals, you can tell by how they interact with the ferrets when I am looking at them in the store for purchase to become part of my family. They know their personalities and habits - which definately helps to make a decision about which ferret to make part of the family. They have ferret food, liter and treats. My only suggestion would be to carry larger liter pans for ferrets as they do get bigger and require larger pans, as well as carrying some additional ferret accessories including clothes, hats, etc.

Today we had an awesome experience thanks to a very lovely employee named Jennifer. She assisted us with finding a comfortable harness for our pit, Roscoe. Some people may be afraid of the breed but Jennifer saw he was a sweetie and stepped right in to help try on and adjust the harness to size. She was the biggest help, found him a great fit and even picked a color harness to compliment his coloring. Roscoe thanked her with doggy kisses and he is so happy with his new harness! No more pulling. Thanks so much, Jennifer!

When I lived in CA, I loved bringing my 2 cats to Karen at the Alameda Petco. So, when I moved to Toms River I thought - Oh, great, just go to Petco - NOT! All of a sudden my cats are "problem cats"? Karen cut their nails for 5 years, every month, with NO PROBLEMS. So, either - the woman is incompetent and hurt them (cutting too close to the paw) or she just hates cats - and you know they can tell. Dont bring your animals here - especially not your cats!

The employees here at the Toms River location are rude and disrespectful I had two of them snap at me on with a bad attitude and one was actually shouting for no reason bc I wasnt even talking to her in the first place she just intruded in my conversation. I would much rather go to the Petsmart down the street by the Friendlys than ever give them business or deal with their employees again.

Petco in Toms River helped me so much with my baby leopard gecko! Thanks to Corey and her team, they took care of him, took him to the vet and healed him up completely, if it wasnt for them I wouldnt have him right now! I give this petco 5 stars for all their hard work of helping me with my gecko and with all my questions!!! I recommend petco in Toms River!

Employee extremely rude and confrontational. While buying a feeder mouse for pet snake I had to fill out paperwork. When I asked why they need my address and phone number, i was told by employee that he doesnt want to fight me and to put my address in or leave store, which I promptly left never to return. My advice, go somewhere else
