My wife and I had decided to get a parrot and were scouting around for potential birds we like. We had initially considered adopting a parrot, but the agency had a very lengthy pre-process before we could even visit the location! Regardless we made our way doing to NJ from NYC and Bird House was one of the 3 places in the area we selected to visit. The store is impressive, clean and orderly, with a slightly small selection of birds in store compared to other bird-only stores. However they are willing to procure a certain bird that you are interested in. My wife and I werent fixed on any breed but rather were looking to learn about the birds and see if we could find one we felt attached to. While I understand that in such stores the attendants maybe not know every bird individually we were looking for some help in selecting a breed, however the person who dealt with us wasnt very helpful in the matter and was unable to guide us through choosing a bird. It felt like we just had to select from a list. It would have helped if we were provided information about different personalities of birds, their habits and so forth, since we were looking for one to keep in our apartment. In the end I suppose it really depends on what you are going for and while we found the store to be well stocked and their eagerness to source a breed out for you impressive, we looked elsewhere towards stores that helped us narrow down our search based on our lifestyle and interests.

This was my first time going here just to look around. And Im no bird expert but by looking at the birds they were in distress. It was obvious that many (if not all) birds had anxiety. You could also tell that their feathers were plucked out (once again Im no bird expert but seriously these birds were NOT comfortable). They were in too small of cages. All cramped right next to/on top of each other. They were in no way healthy. And to top that off none of the workers seemed to care. But thats expected when people only work for money and not for passion. I have a huge heart for all animals. And going inside there today made me cry (literally I just walked right out crying). To see all those poor beautiful birds being poorly cared for made my heart drop. And lastly, this is a shop. Not an adoption agency. Never "buy" any animal. Adopt.

Been shopping there for years! They have: 1.A great selection of birds-always healthy! Theres a nursery and a "pet bonding" area to make sure that you and your bird are compatible 2. Products: They carry only the best products with a great selection and excellent prices 3. Service: Your bird needs a cut? How about a place to stay while you are on vacation? No matter the service, they are ready to help! Suggestion: before calling a vet-check with them. If they cant do it, they will give you a referral. Above all, follow their advise to the letter! 4. Location: They are conveniently located on Route 18 where the traffic is lighter. 5. Customer Service: Best in the business! If anyone posts anything but 5 stars, has to be a competitor! Steve

I love The Bird House. Whether Im buying a bird (which I have done there), shopping for bird supplies (which I do there all the time) or just browsing, spending any amount of time at the store is just an absolutely wonderful experience. The people that work there are just so wonderful and the selection of rare and exotic birds is incredible. They also have any type of cage, food, toy or any other type of supply one could ever want. The owners care about their customers and would do anything and everything for them and their bird. Whether you want a bird, bird supplies or just need to board your pet bird, go with The Bird House - you WONT be disappointed!

Close drive for anybody around the East Brunswick area. Unfortunately, there is a limited selection of birds to choose from. Half of these birds are not even ready to leave the store because there not mature yet. The service here is horrible. I felt as if i was annoying the one employee they have with my questions about the Cockatiel. Then the cages started at $50 bucks! (ridiculously high) Try your luck with a different bird store. Dont waste your time.

The Bird House is a great place to find exotic birds and supplies. Rich, Lisa and the whole team are very knowledgeable and guide the customer with "straight talk" about what to do and not to do with your feathered friends. Their inventory runs from basic to exotic and you can make all your choices up close. They even have a pet crow named Salem who keeps an eye on things! Nobody cares more about birds than these guys....

New to the area and decided to check out this bird store. All the birds seem to me stressed and alot of the birds dont look like they are healthy at all. Instead of leaving the store happy, I left saddened knowing these birds arent well taken care of.
