I had not had a decent night of solid sleep in a long time. The bed I was on, was finally giving out – the boxsprings had broken crossmembers – and I was waking up constantly through the night. The matress topper I had bought at a warehouse store was not working. Clearly it was time to get a new bed. I went through the Consumer Report’s evaluations and ratings for days. I went to website after website looking for the answer. Finally I settled on the Sealy Posturepedic Hybrid line. It was well rated. The first store had one salesperson who was tied up and I just got to skim some prices from the tags and try to lay down for a bit on it. During a conversation, a friend of mine suggested that I try Mathis Brothers for a mattress or Costco. The Costco mattresses were only available online and I did not want the hassle of shipping it back and forth for refunds and have my money tied up while everything was worked out At Mathis Brothers, I got white glove service. David Hampton let me sit on every mattress just to make sure I was 100% decided on the Sealy. David went through construction and specs for the various ones I was considering besides the Sealy. Not only did they beat the price of the other shop, but included the mattress protector and had the bed to me in a couple of days including having to transfer it from another store. When everything arrived, I realized that I had not measured the height of the bed frame and the bed was now 34 inches off the ground. I checked to see how much it would be to get a contractor to make a partially removable roof and have a helicopter deliver me to bed every night. There had to be a less expensive bedtime routine… Turns out that with one call, Mathis Brothers made sure I was taken care of – they picked up the very high boxsprings and replaced them with the low profile ones. Mathis Brothers is truly exceptional and I look forward to working with David and this outstanding establishment in the future when I start upgrading my living room set!

We moved from Northern California and arrived in Indio without furniture. Before our new home closed escrow, we order furniture from Mathis Brothers. The furniture included 2 sofas, a coffee table and 2 end tables, a dining table and 6 chairs, a bedroom set consisting of a bed, 1 night table and 1 chest and a bedroom set consisting of a bed, 2 night tables and 1 chest with mirror. Delivery was promised for Monday, November 7. When delivered, the 2 night tables in one bedroom set were missing. After contacting the store, we were told the tables could be delivered in 2 weeks. Also, the dresser from that set was missing from the order. After contacting the store, the dresser was added to the order but could not be delivered until the end of the month. At this point, we hope it will be delivered. Subsequently, we noticed that 2 of the dining room chairs has short legs. Replacement chairs were exchanged, but the deliver person was condescending and said customers should always check to see if the floor was level. That was the first thing I checked before I called the store. Furthermore, one leg was over .25 inches shorter on one chair and the short leg on the other chair was just under .25 inches shorter. The difference was evident to anyone sitting on the chairs or even just looking at them. Why didnt the Mathis Brothers staff who assembled the chairs check them? Also, both bedroom sets in the showroom were a similar light grey shade. The bedroom set which was delivered complete is brown. Rather than not have any bedroom set, we accepted it without comment. When the night tables for the second bedroom set were delivered, the deliver people left quickly before I discovered that one of the drawers would not stay shut. This appears to be a problem in the assembly of the night table. The invoices included a furniture protection plan on some items but not on other??? I had it removed.

Today I decided to make the 20+ mile drive from Palm Springs to Indio to hopefully find and buy a chair for my bedroom. Recently I purchased a new home and have been trying to furnish it. When I arrived At Mathis Bros. in Indio I was greeted by a nice salesman. He took his time to show me most everything they had and I finally found the perfect chair. I told him I would take it so he went to a computer terminal and started the transaction. He then told me they had sold all their warehouse stock of that item and the only chair left was the one on the floor. I asked him if I could purchase that one and he said normally they would not do that. I explained that I needed the chair today and had made the long drive to find this chair. He spoke with a couple of supervisor salespeople and the final answer they gave him was NO they would not sell me that chair. Their reasoning was that they wanted it to sit on the floor so they could sell orders for more of the same type. I see this companies flashy ads on TV telling people their stock is available for immediate pickup or delivery. I cannot understand why a company would have such a horrible policy that prevents a good customer from buying something they have in stock and have for sale. They not only lost the $300 sale to me but possibly several thousand more on additional pieces I will need soon. I will never go back to Mathis Bros. I dont feel I got a fair shake and I feel what they did was wrong.

When we first arrived at inside of the store we were bombarded with a gentleman who would not stop following us after repeatedly informing him that we were just looking and we would find him if we needed assistance and he gave us some attitude about not being able to get back in line without helping us first. Im sorry if that is the way things work there, but no one likes to be bombarded as if youre walking up to a car dealership. I understand your sales people probably work off of commission but he was overly aggressive and rude. After finally getting him to let us be on our way without him, we got shopping. Maybe 30 minutes after looked around at furniture a very nice woman approached us and asked if we had any questions she could answer, and at that point we did. She introduced herself as Sugey and let us know if we needed anything she would be around. She was very polite and not forceful, which was a relief. So we asked her questions and she ended up helping us and making very great suggestions. Sugey found us some amazing deals, and was very knowledgeable about all the furniture and accessories offered in the store. Thank you so much Sugey, because of you I found all the great furniture for my new house and will continue to shop at Mathis brothers because of your kindness and honesty! Thank you again!

Finding my product and ordering it was easy. Since my ottoman had to be transferred from Oklahoma to indio, I paid a $60 transfer fee. Angelica stapled her card to my paperwork. She said it would be about 7 to 14 days for arrival. I hadnt heard anything by the 25th of July so I called and left a message. She never called back. So I went to the store to pick up after I went online and saw they had it in stock. I asked if they could waive the $60 since their website showed they had in stock. She called a manager and asked if the fee could be waived since their website showed it was in stock. After talking with the manager over the phone, she said they could NOT waive the fee as that was the only one they had. I asked here then why did they show that the Indio store have it in stock. She said it mustve been a glitch in their system. In my opinion, they should have waived the fee on the small ottoman. The pickup of the ottoman was very good. The guy loaded it into my van.
