PetSmart is my preferred chain pet store, and this particular location also has the Banfield Pet Hospital that our pets use. The store has excellent staff who love animals, are always excited to see our dogs (on leashes) or cat (crated), and their selection of supplies and tools is always enough to find what Im looking for. We adopted our cat from this location, as well. They dont sell cats and dogs, per se, but display cats and dogs from local shelters and rescue organizations. All of the fees and immunizations are taken care of through the store. They usually have quite a few dogs on Saturdays. Make sure you bring a crate if you want to adopt a cat: they cant allow you to transport the cat out of the store in your arms. It will probably run away if you do that. The Banfield staff are excellent. They are great at sticking to appointments within 5 minutes or so, walk-ins might have to wait unless its an emergency (then you get immediate attention), and the doctors and nurses are skilled and always explain everything very well. They always keep me updated during longer checkups and procedures and get authorization for anything they feel is necessary. I also appreciate their computerized records so that I dont have to remember when my animals are due for exams or vaccinations, and if I move, the records are available at any Banfield nationwide.

I have shopped, trained, and used Banfield at Petsmart before. I am not impressed with the selection of eCollar equipment on display, as all the collars they are selling are low quality and the stims are all way too high. These are not eCollars, they are shock collars and HURT. These tools are not meant to be used this way. I am not happy with the quality of training that the American Fork store offered when I took my child-aggressive doberman to class. They said they could help, and all they did was make it worse, along with just shoving treats in their mouth the entire time. After a while, my doberman responded to treats only, and ignored me all the time! As for Banfield - this is a joke. The staff changes all the time, they dont know my dogs history, I end up waiting a 1/2 hour for my appointment, and they tried to charge me an arm and a leg for their insurance plans. I also disagree with their veterinarians on their views of holistic vet care. I feed raw, and they tried to tell me my dog needed grain in their diet. BULL! I am now a certified dog trainer, and study canine nutrition. Im so glad I found a holistic vet in my area and I taught myself about nutrition. These vets were no help.

I went to buy a bowl and a goldfish, just something fun for a poor college student, k? So first of all, the dude says I need at least a five minutes gallon tank, or else my goldfish will die. What the heck? This is one tiny goldfish. So I said no, Im going to get a freaking bowl. And Basically, the whole time I was there, the dude and this other pet smart employee chick were guilt tripping me for not buying a freaking tank. And they kept telling me it was going to die. For the record, my gold fish is still alive and this was five months ago. Needless to say Ive held a grudge. I was so excited for my first goldfish Ive ever owned and then they rained down on my happy goldfish getting parade with their doom and gloom cloud and were really just jerks to me. So if you go to petsmart and they ask you if youre going to use a bowl for your goldfish, just say no, I have a bigger tank at home and it will hopefully save you from the lecture and bad vibes. Geeze Louise.

I have taken my puppy in multiple times for a grooming and been fairly satisfied. This week I took him in (Maltese/Shitsu) and paid $22 extra for a nail buffing which I feel like they didnt do his nails were super long. But the most frustrating thing was he had razor burn all over his bottom and anal area. His is in pain and uncomfortable. We took him back in for them to look at it and felt they were nonchalant about it. It has been two days and the poor guy is in a cone to keep him from chewing the area. He continues to drag his rear end on the ground and irritate it. It isnt improving, just the opposite, it seems to be getting worse and I foresee a vet visit in the future. All in all the grooming, nails, and teeth cost about $75. For that price you would think they would be able to avoid giving my dog razor burn. Thanks Petsmart, you rock. Not.

NOT A FAMILY FRIENDLY STORE!! I visited this location with my family to pick up items for our pets. We had an incident with an employee earlier and I had corrected my kids for the wrong thing that they were doing. As we were checking out the my kids were looking at a bin full of squeeky dog balls and they each picked one up and made it sqeeke, not throwing the ball, and the same female employee yelled across the isle, "those are dog toys, not kid toys, put them back!" I realize that kids playing with everything is a bit annoying, but this is ridiculous. I did talk to the employee and then the manager and the manager began to justify the employees agitation at kids playing with items in the store.... WHAT?? Perhaps if she has no patience she should find a job somewhere people dont take their family.

Last Friday I purchased the remaining bags of Freshpet Vital Complete Meals (refrigerated in one pound bags). My cat has a certain health condition and this is the only food he will eat. Today I called this store and spoke with a rather indifferent young lady and described the product in full detail, and she said they had four or five bags left. So I made a special trip to the store only to find it not in stock. To make matters worse, a very argumentative "acting store manager" tried to convince me that what they had was what I wanted. At that point, I just left the store and will never return. How on earth can you hire such stupid people who would rather win an argument than satisfy a customer? Im going to post this on Facebook, my Twitter account, and the animal rights organizations that I support.

Came in on a nice Thursday afternoon with a fresh paycheck looking to get some fish for my office. Spent quite some time deciding exactly which one I wanted and went to get an employee to assist in bringing my little friend back home and starting his/her new life. The employee literally would not sell the fish to me because she couldnt "verify" that I had a 10 gallon tank. What kind of fish was I wanting you ask? A goldfish, not an exotic peppermint angelfish or a platinum arowana.. a goldfish. I immediately went over to Walmart where the emplyees were more than happy to sell me my beloved goldfish. Will never come back and will urge all of my fish loving friends to visit the local wal-mart for all their fish needs.

Manager refused to sell me food for my pets because they were getting low on the supply and "want to save what is left for our animals..." I understand you have to feed your animals, but not appropriate to turn away a paying customer after I took my time to come in and Im looking right at the product. Seriously. No apologies or efforts to make something work. Now I get to drive all over town trying to find what I need somewhere else. To top it off, this is now my second similar experience at this same store within the last few months. Save yourself a trip and go elsewhere. Try Pet Wants or another local place that actually gives a crap. Corporate monopolies could care less about you or your pet.
