I probably wont shop there again due to a really aggravating encounter with an obtuse and rude employee. On 2/20/14, I had The Wild Rose replace the tubular tires on a 1980s vintage racing bike I own. They understandably dont carry sew-ups, so they had to make a special order. I was riding again a week later. After riding the bike to work (3 miles/trip; once a week on average) for the following six months and storing it indoors at all times, the new tire sidewalls were delaminating and the tires were slipping around the rim, creating a bulge in the tire in front of the valve stem. This was obviously not normal wear and tear, so I went back to the Rose to have them fix it on 8/26/14. After I explained the problem to the Wild Roses wank du jour (WDJ hereon; I didnt get his name), he decided that I did NOT, in fact, buy my tires at the Rose or have them installed at the Rose, and that theyre more than 6 months old (i.e. that I was lying). The WDJ assured me several times that my tires were heavily worn are really only good for about 100 miles (~30 commutes to work) before they just fall apart, as a totally normal event in the life of a Conti Giro tire (this is laughably false). I should mention that the tire manufacturer recommends the Giro model for "high mileage training" (from their website). Realizing the WDJ could not be convinced to help me, I left the shop and contacted the manufacturer myself. The manufacturer acknowledged the very obvious defect from the pictures I sent and promptly sent new tires at no cost to me. While this was in the works, I also contacted the Roses owner, Tim Metos, told him about the wank on his payroll, and that I was having problems with the tires his shop installed. Tim acknowledged that the Rose had, in fact, installed the tires six months prior, and agreed to mount the replacements for free. I dont appreciate being called a liar, or treated like an idiot. When people make honest mistakes, they should be given a second chance. However, this was not a mistake, it was arrogance and indifference on the part of a Rose employee. In the end, I was treated fairly, but it took me contacting the owner to be treated so, and thats a problem.

Original purchased my Kona from this shop. Brought it back for a deluxe tune which cost $70. I dropped the bike off on Tuesday and was told it would be ready on Saturday. I called at 3:10 on Saturday to see if they could let me know when my bike would be done. The person on the phone told me the bike hadnt been worked on yet but they would try to get it done. I received a phone call back from them at 3:45 saying it was done. Was a little surprised it was that quick of a job but went to pick the bike up. I show up and it looked horrendous. Mud still all over the bike and grease everywhere. After I brought it back in to ask about the wash as it was something I paid for with the deluxe tune, the employee, Dan H. informed me that it was washed. I wish I could upload pictures on here so you could see what $70 gets you. He then proceeded to tell me that mountain bikes get dirty so it wasnt a big deal. It was the most condescending and insulting conversation I have ever experienced in a bike shop before. I paid for a service and received the worst tune and clean I have ever seen. I will never bring my bike back to this shop again. I thought since I originally purchased it here I could trust the work but clearly spending thousands of dollars there wont get you that. I will be doing everything I can to get in touch with the owner so I can show him pictures of the work they performed. If I owned this shop I would not want my name associated with the service and experience this employee provided.

I patronize every local bike shop around, am an avid commuter and ride five days a week on and off road. The only place that gets to wrench my bike is Wild Rose. Everybody there rides, they are all local, the owner is local, and they know about bikes. In the seventeen years Ive been commuting, many shops have worked on many of my bikes. Since I found the Rose, Ive never gone elsewhere. If you have a true passion for the sport, and want people who love it even more than you helping you out, there is no better place. We have many great local shops, and I appreciate all of them, but nobody impresses me more with their knowledge and love of the sport. There are guys working there that have done so since it opened, that says something to the quality of the shop, and the ownership. If youre a poser, Id go elsewhere. If you dont think youre a poser, and you dont get what you want at the Wild Rose, you may have just learned something about yourself. I can never say enough good things about these guys, my last three bikes came from them, and they will always wrench them.

I live a couple blocks away and having this shop close could not be more convenient. They keep my bikes and skis running. Buying used skis is easy because I know that one deluxe tune will have the bases looking brand new. As I get more bikes and equipment I work more on my own stuff and everyone in the shop is more than happy to look through their supplies and get me small parts I need even if theyre not doing the bike tune. Some reviewers seem to think theyre walking into a Porsche dealership and are upset when no one in a clean polo shirt comes to shake their hand. Its a bike and ski shop. Ive had an order or two messed up but if you tell them, theyll fix it. Its that simple. Once had a bike in for some work and was going to be 15 min past their closing time for pick up. An employee closed up the shop and waited outside with my bike so that I would be able to ride the next day.

I realize this place is going out of business in about a month but I thought I would go in get my bike a tuned up nonetheless. Worst idea ever! My brakes are messed up, the tires were not trued and my front tire is leaking. I asked for stans in my tires as there are a lot of goats heads where I ride. I received slime in my tires without so much as a phone call apparently the store was out of stans. I would have happily picked my bike up and gotten stans at one of the many other bike shops. I was also told my bike would be completed Monday by 5 pm which it was not but they promised to have it done first thing on Tuesday. It was barley completed Tuesday by 5 pm and the work on it was horrible. I guess I will be going to get my bike tuned up again by a competent person.

I had the worst experience at this shop. I ended up not getting the work done and finding somewhere else. First, they tell me that they cant diagnose the problem until they take it apart. Fine. Then I get a phone call saying that my bike is in "disrepair." I say "What do you mean, I just need some barrings replaced . . ." It turns out that my rear wheel is not perfectly true, that my front brake pads are low and my disc brake rotor may need to be replace. Disrepair? These are common maintenance issues not a crack in the frame. Then, the parts and labor for my simple repair is projected to cost around $200. Sorry, boys, Ill find another shop. Oh, and the kicker was . . . they never even took it apart to find out what the problem was.
