I am giving 3 stars here because I am mostly disappointed in their return policy. I first would like to mention that the selection is good, prices might be a little high but considering the brands it is somewhat understandable. I do not live in Ogden and after I bought a pair of shorts and tried to return them a less than 2 months later when I had made it back to town for the 1st time since I had purchases garment and wanted to return them in order to purchase something else I shopped for a while and was eventually told that because the 21 day return window had passed by they would not take them. People there are knowledgeable and helpful but policy needs to be revised if they are to compete with their competitors. Thank you

This is a well-stocked store with a high selection of quality goods. It is a great local store, and perfect for quality backpacking gear. Dont look for bargains here. My issue is the staff. They are friendly, but sometimes too friendly. More than once I have felt like a pork roast in a piranha pit! They want to engage you in conversation, even after politely trying to bow out. I understand local stores need to make a profit. But the hard sell tactics have caused me to walk out empty- handed twice now. But if you dont mind tenacity, and need quality advice and gear, this is a great place to go.

Ive been in Gear 30 several times and have always received good customer service, but last Thursday I went in looking for a specific item and received extraordinary customer service. They didnt carry what I needed and Olivia and Chase went out of their way to find a store who did carry it. When they couldnt do that either, Olivia found an alternative way to solve my problem. I was so impressed with their out-of-the-box thinking and I just thought management should know. (Thanks so much! Youve earned a loyal customer!!!)

Want to get into back packing so I stopped by gear 30. I explained Im a novice and just getting into it and they did an excellent job hooking me up. They didnt try to up sell me and actually showed me a less expensive tent that is more in accordance with my skill level and budget. Very knowledgeable about the equipment and are full of recommendations based on personal experience. Ill definitely get the rest of my gear here.

Great store that has plenty of selection on backpacking, camping, climbing, and hiking gear. It sells stuff at retail prices which are usually too steep for me, but Ive picked up some trail running shoes at more than half the MSRP when they went clearance. Also, if youre just in the market for footwear, their customer service was much better than what I received at Striders or Peak Performance.

Totally love this place. They have a pretty good selection of Vasque shoes and Prana clothes along with others but those are my favorites. Just about anything you need to hit the trail or rock can be found here. They even have some decent climbing guidebooks and trail books.

I always receive great customer service here. This is one of the few places in Ogden that sells Keens. Its rarely crowded and always well staffed so you can really take your time trying stuff on. Im sure the $17 socks are a required up sell but I love those wool socks.

Bought a climbing harness less then 24 hrs ago and needed to return it. Only tried it on in the store and never took it out of the package. Never was advised that it cant be returned. Lost me as a customer and Ill make sure to let others know not to shop here as well.

Not a great many choices. Its one of those places that tries to make up for the lack of choices with location and cutesy design. For better more serious choices proceed south to recreation outlet.

Shared Expectations

High end, name brands. Reasonable prices on gear, or name brand stuff, if thats what you need. Great selection of sleeping mats and portable tents.
